The biggest week in british football

Fratelli

Pre-Show Stalwart
what a weekend for football.

1st off burnley vs sheffield utd. 25/5/09
the game in which they call they richest in the world, the championship playoff.
im pulling for burnley all the way here.

SPL: rangers and celtic tussle for the title as rangers lead with one game to go. rangers need a win realistically to win the title for the 1st time in 4 years. celtic host hearts who have already claimed 3rd place but will still pose tough opposistion for the bhoys. rangers have a more difficult task. the go away to dundee utd, a team they havnt beaten away in the league since 2006.

falkirk sit at the bottom of the table on 35 points while st mirren and inverness caley thistle both have 37. falkirk need a win and hope one of their rivals slip up to ensure safety for next season.

Premiership: Man utd have won the title, liverpool looked to have sealed 2nd and chelsea 3rd.

fulham face everton and spurs face liverpool with both teams looking to clinch the last europa league place.

Newcastle, sunderland, hull and middlesbourgh all face a hard task of securing a place in the epl next season with middlesbourgh looking least likely to stay up with a horrid goal difference. hull have an uphill battle against retaining champs man utd whilst newcastle have a slightly easier game vs aston villa. sunderland look realistically to stay up but face chelsea.

It will be the most dramatic weekend ever. I know you don't feel this way, but having Celtic and Rangers battling over goal difference would be the best for neutrals, like they did the other year when Chris Sutton spat his dummy out.

Burnley need to beat Sheffield United to get some new blood in the Premier League. Play offs are always dull though.

The main attraction, for me anyway, is the relegation scrap. Being from the north-east, the footballing hotbed (oh yes) it will be a thrilling weekend. One of the three is doomed and possibly two of them. Boro are fucked, and that's good because no one cares about them. What would be funny is if Newcastle win, Hull win and Sunderland lose. Sunderland fans have been laughing at Geordies all season long. Plus I have a fiver on Newcastle staying up with either Hull/Sunderland going down.

Yeah it's gonna be a biggie. Celtic and Ragers will be my pick for the weekend. My fingers are crossed that Celtic can still pul it out of the bag. Although I do think Rangers will win it eventually. The Newcastle story will be engrossing too. I personally hope they go down. I think all thier players think they are better than they actually are and they deserve to go down.

for the neutrals yes

for the celtic fans yes (theyd be over two goals ahead with a +8 better goals scored

rangers fans - worst nightmare

the difference is too much to make it exciting to be honest. rangers would need to beat dundee utd by at least 4-0 or 5-0 to win the title on goal difference and thats no easy task.

the year rangers won by a single goal was so exciting because both teams wer equal on gd on the last day of the season, rangers ran out 6-1 winners over dunfermline and celtic beat kilmarnock 4-0.

dundee utd and hearts are both very strong teams and rangers and celtic will have to be at their very best to put at least 3 over them.

It doesn't look too dramatic to me. Nobody cares about Scottish football, most Scots even support Man Utd or Liverpoo.

The Premiership title race is done. All you've got is relegation. Middlesborough is a team that nobody really has an opinion on, Hull are in the position everybody expected them to be in, Sunderland are a yo-yo team and Newcastle aren't as big as the fans think they are.

Ohh, the play-offs. Two teams who didn't win the league facing off. How exciting....for the people who are fans of those teams.
