JIM ROSS: Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome back to the World Wrestling Federation, back in business tonight with a bang!

JERRY LAWLER: It’s a new era for the WWF tonight and we’re kicking it off live and exclusive with WWF RAW!

JIM ROSS: Well, King, it’s going to an historic night here. The WWF has new owners, new general managers and new faces from the glittering past. We don’t even know who half the superstars are going to be! All we know is that we’re getting some names from the past re-joining RAW ...

JERRY LAWLER: But we do know one thing JR. We know that RAW will still be the number one show now that we have you, good ol’ JR, back where you belong on Monday nights!

JIM ROSS: That’s very kind of you to say that, King, but that’s enough of you and I. Let’s get on with the show!

The RAW theme music fades away and the crowd quieten in expectation of what will happen ...

JIM ROSS: And here comes the new owner of the World Wrestling Federation ...

Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome the new owner of the World Wrestling Federation – CHIP BUTTY!

ChipButty.jpg

Chip Butty heads down the ramp towards the WWF ring, waving and shaking hands with the crowd in the walkway. The reaction from the crowd is positive as he gets into the ring and takes a microphone ...

CHIP BUTTY: Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Monday Night Raw!

The crowd cheer in excitement ...

CHIP BUTTY: For those of you who don’t know me, I am Chip Butty and I have bought the World Wrestling Federation from Vince McMahon. I have re-named it as the World Wrestling Federation because I prefer it that way. And there is nothing that the ‘Panda Charity’ can do about it!

Chip Butty walks around the ring looking out to the crowds ...

CHIP BUTTY: This is the first time I’ve ever set foot in a wrestling ring. I enjoy watching wrestling but I’m not cut out to be in charge of a whole wrestling show. So I’ve appointed two general managers, one for WWF RAW and the other for WWF SMACKDOWN on Friday nights. I’ll be involved in both shows but I’ll let these men run the shows as they see fit. I’m guessing you’d like to meet the new RAW general manager then?

The crowd shout out their approval for Chip Butty’s suggestion ...

CHIP BUTTY: Well, I’m a man of the people. So here he is, the new General Manager of WWF RAW ... MACHO MAN RANDY SAVAGE!

RandySavage.jpg

Randy Savage comes out to a thunderous ovation from the RAW crowd, his bright coloured outfit swaying as he heads down to the ring ...

CHIP BUTTY: Welcome back to your home, Macho Man, welcome back to the World Wrestling Federation.

Randy Savage walks around the ring shaking hands with the people at ringside, collects a microphone and enters the ring ...

RANDY SAVAGE:Ohhhhh yyyyeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!

The crowd cheers as Randy Savage and Chip Butty shake hands in the middle of the ring ...

CHIP BUTTY: So, let’s get down to business Randy. I’m giving you two championships to use on RAW: the Intercontinental Title and the WWF Title. It’s up to you who or how you hand these over.

RANDY SAVAGE: Ohhh yeeaaahhh, dig it. Thanks, Chip, for giving me the chance to come back to the World Wrestling Federation as General Manager of Raw!

Crowd start chanting ‘Welcome back, welcome back’ to Savage.

RANDY SAVAGE: When I left the World Wrestling Federation all those years ago, I never thought I’d be back. Well, here I am as General Manager and here I am holding the WWF Title belt ... It’s changed a little bit, dig it.

CHIP BUTTY: It sure has, Macho, it sure has. You got a plan for it?

RANDY SAVAGE: The Macho Man is funky like a monkey, Chip, I’ve always got a plan for the World Wrestling Federation Championship, oh yeah!

CHIP BUTTY: Well I might have a bit of an alteration to those plans, Randy. You see, you’ve not got your full WWF RAW roster sorted out yet. There are six more superstars who are waiting for me to tell them where they are going to be earning a living. Big names, Randy, big names ...

Crowd start chanting ‘Cena, Cena, Cena’ in expectation ...

CHIP BUTTY: No chance, folks! I have six secret superstars and over the coming weeks, Raw and Smackdown will host a series of matches on both Raw and Smackdown TV shows to ‘win’ these superstars. You might win three each, you might win them all ... you might win none of them. By the time we reach Summerslam ...

Crowd cheer at the mention of the next PPV ...

CHIP BUTTY: ... by the time we reach Summerslam, all six will know where they are heading and all six will debut at the pay-per-view. There is a Smackdown superstar here tonight – as selected by the Smackdown General Manager and myself – so it is up to you to decide who is facing him. And trust me, it’s worth winning the match!

Chip Butty leaves the ring and heads to the back as Randy Savage stands in the ring contemplating ...

*** COMMERCIAL BREAK ***

RAW returns with a video clip repeating Chip Butty’s announcement about the Smackdown vs. Raw matches for the six big name superstars ...

JIM ROSS: Welcome back to Monday Night Raw with me, Jim Ross, and my broadcast colleague, Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler. It’s time for the first match of the all-new World Wrestling Federation.

JERRY LAWLER: And it sounds like it is going to be high stakes as well with a big name superstar heading to the winning brand ...

The following contest, set for one fall, will be the first match on WWF RAW and it is a Smackdown vs. Raw match where the winning superstar will win a superstar for his brand’s roster!

The crowd cheer in anticipation ...

Representing SMACKDOWN, weighing in at 285 pounds, from Pembroke, North Carolina, he is ... TATANKA!

The Native American Tataka enters the arena in his war paint and traditional head-dress, running down to the ring with his tomahawk held high.

JIM ROSS: A legend in the WWF, King, Tatanka was undefeated for over two years when he first debuted here. On his return tonight, will he be able to give a RAW superstar a run for his money and pick up the win?

JERRY LAWLER: I’m sure that Savage will pick the right man for the job. Tatanka is sure to be one of Smackdown’s finest but RAW is just superior in every way ...

JIM ROSS: Who will it be then?

Jerry Lawler: It’s Edge! A fantastic pick from Randy Savage!

Representing Monday Night Raw, weighing in at 241 pounds, from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, he is the ‘Rated-R Superstar’ ... EDGE!

Edge strides out cockily but with a look of annoyance on his face. He looks back towards the curtain before lifting his hands in the air as a signal for his fireworks to explode behind him. The crowd is mixed – the fans are waiting to see how Edge behaves before making a decision whether to cheer or boo him ...

JIM ROSS: What a start for WWF Raw we have here. Smackdown’s Native American Tatanka and Raw’s Edge with the prize at stake of a major WWF superstar.

JERRY LAWLER: I’m a little worried about Edge though, JR, he looked a little annoyed on his way to the ring. He’d better have his mind focused on the Tatanka ...

SMACKDOWN vs. RAW MATCH 1
Tatanka vs. Edge

The two men come face to face in the centre of the ring and begin talking to each other. They tie up and Tatanka throws Edge down in the corner of the ring as if to show how much stronger than Edge he is. Edge composes himself and ties up again with Tatanka but again is thrown down to the mat by his opponent. Edge slowly gets to his feet and pushes Tatanka hard in the chest. The Native American isn’t taking no nonsense from Edge though and pushes him back harder and down onto the mat again.

Jim Ross: Edge is clearly getting frustrated here with himself. He has to use his cunning because if this turns into a battle of strength, then Edge cannot win.

The two men come together again and Edge offers his hand high for a test of strength. Tatanka accepts but with one hand in place, Edge hits a kick to the gut and sets to work on Tatanka. Edge begins to dominate the match with a series of kicks to the knees of Tatanka to bring him down to the mat. Continuing to work the knees of the Native American, Edge controls the match and slows it down with an inverted headlock as Tatanka strains to escape. Edge begins to allow Tatanka up before hitting him with a swinging neckbreaker before posing for the crowd, hands held high, a few boos now audible.

Edge returns to Tatanka but he rallies a little with a few backhand chops to Edge’s chest from his knees. The Native American manages to get to his feet before Edge bounces off the ropes and kicks Tatanka hard to the skull to send him back down. The confidence in Edge is now noticeably increasing as he uses kicks to the knee again to keep Tatanka down before going for the first cover of the match. 1 ... 2 ... and Tatanka kicks out. Edge gets to his feet and heads for the corner to climb to the top turnbuckle. As Tatanka staggers up, Edge prepares himself and launches for a diving crossbody ... and misses as Tatanka moves aside. Edge hits the mat with a thud and twists in pain as his opponent begins to recover.

JIM ROSS: Can Tatanka get back into this match now? We’ll see after this break ...

*** COMMERCIAL BREAK ***

Raw returns with a video replay of action during the break. It shows Edge and Tatanka outside the ring where Edge shoved the Native American backwards into the steel ring post.

JERRY LAWLER: This is looking good for Raw now, JR. Edge is doing the business for us!

Edge is standing in the ring, arms aloft, as the referee counts Tatanka out. At the count of 8, Tatanka manages to slide under the bottom rope and stops the count but Edge is straight onto him in the corner. Beating him down in the corner of the ring, the ‘Ultimate Opportunist’ retreats and begins tugging at his hair like a madman ... preparing to strike ...

JERRY LAWLER: Here it comes, JR ... Finish him, Edge!

As Tatanka staggers to his feet, Edge’s feet begin to jog on the spot as he waits for the perfect moment ... Tatanka turns and Edge speeds across the ring looking for the spear ... but he misses and heads shoulder first into the turnbuckle with the crowd beginning to roar and cheer for Tatanka. He hits the ropes and gives Edge a shoulder block to send him down once, then a second to put him down again. With the momentum building for Tatanka, he hits a Tomahawk chop before hooking Edge up for a running DDT. Tatanka hooks the leg and goes for the pin ... 1 ... 2 ... Edge barely kicks out before the 3!

JIM ROSS: How close was that, King? Edge needs to get back into this but he is looking in trouble ...

JERRY LAWLER: Come on Edge, we can’t lose the first match on our own show!

Tatanka climbs the ropes as Edge begins to get to his feet before flying off the top rope to deliver another Tomahawk overhead chop to put Edge on his back again. Cover from Tatanka, 1 ... 2 ... Edge kicks out again. The Native American signals to the crowd with his trademark war-cry and lifts Edge back up to his knees and holds him in an head-lock. He lifts Edge up for a Renegade Drop and holds him on his shoulders, allowing Edge time to think about it ... Tatanka eventually falls back and completes the drop before turning to cover Edge again. 1 ... 2 ... Amazingly, Edge kicks out again. The crowd – mostly behind Tatanka despite his Smackdown status – groan as Edge kicks out. He looks frustrated but he uses the Fireman’s Carry to place Edge on the mat again and heads for the top turnbuckle yet again. With Edge struggling in the middle of the ring, Tatanka waits for him to stagger up to his feet before he leaps from the top rope for the diving crossbody ... but Edge moves at the last second and Tatanka hits the mat with a crash. Edge groggily gets to his feet across the ring before charging towards the equally groggy Tatanka and hitting him with a perfect spear. Edge hooks the leg for the pin ... 1 ... 2 ... 3! Edge wins!

Here is your winner ... EDGE!

Edge’s music hits and ‘Metalingus’ echoes around the arena as Edge slides out under the bottom rope and heads up the stage in pain. Tatanka staggers to his feet, holding his ribcage, and looks round in frustration at losing a match from a seemingly winning position. As Edge reaches the stage, Randy Savage comes out applauding his Raw superstar but Edge simply stares into Savage’s eyes with a look of anger on his face.

JERRY LAWLER: It was a great effort from Tatanka, JR, but Raw gets the first victory of the new WWF era with a great win from Edge.

JIM ROSS: And that means, King, that Monday Night Raw will be getting a new superstar and if the owner Chip Butty was to be believed earlier, it is going to be a major new star for Raw.

JERRY LAWLER: Sssshhh! Macho Man is going to say something!

RANDY SAVAGE: Ohhhh yeeeeaaahhh! A win for Raw! Ladies and Gentlemen, let me introduce Raw’s new addition to the roster. He will be making his debut at Summerslam but here’s who he is ... Raw will be getting, thanks to Edge, this man ...

RANDY SAVAGE: ... It’s the Viper ... RANDY ORTON! Dig it!

Randy Orton slowly ambles out onto the stage and stands at the top of the stage looking into the eyes of the General Manager, Randy Savage. As an uneasy stare-down ensues, Orton suddenly launches to the left and hits the RKO to Tatanka as he staggers up the ramp after his defeat. As Orton poses with his arms held wide, Raw heads into another commercial break.

*** COMMERCIAL BREAK ***

Replay of Randy Orton’s RKO to Tatanka is played as Raw returns from the break. The camera shows that Randy Savage is still stood on stage as the Native American is helped out of the arena.

Randy Savage: Ohhh yeeeaaaahhhh, what a start to Monday Night Raw! And now I want to get down to some real serious business ...

The crowd cheer and whistle as WWF Diva Stacy Keibler walks out onto the stage carrying two title belts: the Intercontinental Title and the coveted WWF Title.

Randy Savage: Now I have two title belts here and I want to hand them over to somebody at Summerslam in three weeks. Who will they go to? Well, I’m going to have a tournament involving eight superstars to decide, dig it. The winner of the final match in the tournament – which will be at Summerslam – will be the new WWF Champion.

Randy Savage holds the WWF Title in the air as the crowd cheer and clap their approval.

Randy Savage: The first two matches of the tournament will be held tonight here on Monday Night Raw! I’m going to be watching carefully though to see who deserves a shot at the Intercontinental Title. If someone can impress me in the tournament – or out of the tournament – they could fight for this title at Summerslam too. Ohhh yeeeeaaaahhhh!

Randy Savage turns and heads backstage with the two titles in his grasp as the crowd cheers loud.

Jim Ross: That’s big news, King, the WWF Title will be the prize for an eight-man tournament and the first two matches will be tonight!

Jerry Lawler: It reminds me of the old days and the King of the Ring, JR. Did you see my proudest moment at the first ever King of the Ring?

Jim Ross: Yes, I did, King. It was a heinous attack on a weakened Bret Hart if I remember wasn’t it?

Jerry Lawler: It sure was, JR, it sure was. Maybe I should go and offer to ‘crown’ the new champion for Randy Savage as well?

Jim Ross: You just stay sat down, King, we’ve got another match coming up after this ...

A vignette airs for another superstar who will be joining Raw in the future ...

Returning to the WWF soon: GOLDBERG

*** COMMERCIAL BREAK ***

Raw returns with the camera on Lilian Garcia in the ring ready to announce the participants for the next match.

The following contest is a WWF Divas match set for one fall.

Introducing first, from Los Angeles, California ... VICTORIA!

Jim Ross: Here comes our first Raw diva, Victoria, for our first ever Divas match in the new WWF.

Jerry Lawler: It’s great to see Victoria back. I wonder if there’ll be a Womens Championship on Raw or not?

Jim Ross: There’s so much to sort out for Chip Butty and Randy Savage. I’ll bet that there will be soon enough.

And her opponent. From Boise, Idaho ... TORRIE WILSON!

Jim Ross: One thing is certain though, King, the Divas need to impress if they are going to win any WWF Womens Title. And these two could make a start tonight!

Jerry Lawler: Sssshhhh! I’m concentrating on Torrie Wilson ...

DIVAS MATCH
Victoria vs. Torrie Wilson

The two divas start off in the middle of the ring and Victoria immediately gets the upper hand over the weaker Torrie Wilson. In an aggressive start, Victoria forces Torrie back into the corner of the ring and uses some impressive kicks to reduce Torrie to a wreck before the referee pulls Victoria away. Victoria cartwheels across the ring to crush Torrie into the corner again before locking in the hammerlock to take Torrie down to the mat. Victoria smiles a twisted smile as the confidence oozes out of her and she dominates her opponent.

Jerry Lawler: Torrie Wilson hasn’t even got a shot in yet! Victoria is dominant so far ...

Jim Ross: That’s not a big shock, King, Victoria has been in action recently. It’s been a few years since we last saw the lovely Torrie Wilson in a wrestling ring.

Torrie Wilson responds to the clapping from the crowd and manages to force herself over towards the ropes which she wraps her foot around. The referee breaks the hold and Victoria looks annoyed. She pulls Torrie up by her hair but Torrie breaks out and starts firing shots at the face of Victoria with the crowd behind her. Torrie bounces off the ropes and uses the baseball slide to get in position to roll up Victoria from behind ... 1 ... 2 ... Victoria kicks out with authority. Torrie gets to her feet quickly and hits a snap suplex before heading for the top turnbuckle. Victoria gets to her feet as Torrie goes for the ‘Tilt-a-whirl’ headscissors takedown to put the dark haired Diva down on the mat again. Another pinfall attempt from Torrie, 1 ... 2 ... Victoria powers out. A look of frustration appears on the face of Torrie Wilson as she looks to set up the swinging neckbreaker to finish Victoria off. However, Victoria counters and hits Torrie with a superkick to put the blonde bombshell down on the mat. Victoria lifts her up and sets up for a Widows Peak that she hits emphatically. Victoria hooks the leg – 1 ... 2 ... 3! It’s a convincing win for Victoria!

Here is your winner ... VICTORIA!

Victoria has her hand lifted by the referee before she heads for the time-keeper table to collect a microphone.

Jerry Lawler: Poor Torrie Wilson!

Jim Ross: A convincing win for Victoria, a message to all the other Divas in the World Wrestling Federation. And now she has something to say ...

Victoria: I haven’t heard anything yet about a WWF Womens Title. Mr Butty, I suggest that you hand the title belt over to Mr Savage to give to me. I am the most dominant diva in the World Wrestling Federation. I am a two-time Womens Champion and I am the Diva most deserving of the title now – as I just proved to dear old Torrie Wilson.

Randy Savage appears on the titantron and the crowd cheers for the General Manager.

Randy Savage: Victoria ... Look, I haven’t heard anything from Chip Butty about a Womens Title. Maybe it’s going to be on Smackdown? If I do, you’ll be the first person I’ll tell so please leave the ring so the show can continue.

Victoria leaves the ring with an annoyed look on her face.

Randy Savage: Now then, World Wrestling Federation. I told you all earlier that there would be an eight man competition for the WWF Title. There will be two Quarter Final matches tonight and two more next week. Next week on Raw, it will be Carlito ...

The crowd boos at the mention of Carlito’s name.

Randy Savage: ... against the only Olympic gold medal winning WWF superstar, Kurt Angle.

Loud cheers greet the news that the American hero, Kurt Angle will be involved in the WWF Title tournament.

Randy Savage: And we will also see the ‘Rated R Superstar,’ Edge in action against ...

A few boos are heard for Edge after his match earlier as they anticipate his opponent.

Randy Savage: ... Jeff Hardy!

The crowd erupt at the news that Jeff Hardy will be in the tournament next week. A chant of ‘Hardy, Hardy, Hardy!’ starts up.

Randy Savage: Dig it, I knew you would like that! And tonight’s main event will feature these four men as well. It will be a tag team match between Jeff Hardy and Kurt Angle against Carlito and Edge. Don’t go anywhere now – the first two Quarter Finals are coming before that match!

The RAW theme tune blasts out as the show heads into another commercial break.

Next week’s Quarter Finals are advertised as RAW returns ...

WWFTitleQF.jpg

JIM ROSS: Welcome back to WWF RAW! Kurt Angle and Jeff Hardy will team up tonight to face Carlito and Edge in preparation for their WWF Title Quarter Final matches next week.

JERRY LAWLER: It also explains why Edge was annoyed with Randy Savage earlier. It means he is going to be wrestling twice tonight!

JIM ROSS: It does, King. Before that match though, we’ve got the first two Quarter Finals tonight on Raw!

JERRY LAWLER: This is an amazing first night for WWF Raw! I wonder if Smackdown can even get close to matching it on Friday night?

Ladies and Gentlemen, the following contest – set for one fall – is the first WWF Title Tournament Quarter Final match.

JIM ROSS: Let’s find out which two superstars are going to be in the first Quarter Final, King ...

JIM ROSS:What the ... ? Doink the Clown? In the WWF Title tournament?

Ladies and Gentlemen, first, weighing in at 243 pounds ... DOINK THE CLOWN!

JERRY LAWLER:
And he doesn’t look like he is here to be nice to the kids, JR!

Doink the Clown heads out with two buckets in his hands, his expression changing from smiles and frolics to evil and sinister with his music. Setting a bucket down on the stage, Doink threatens to tip the other bucket over the children in the aisle ... In the end, he tips the bucket and silver confetti rains down over the children instead. Laughing, Doink continues towards the ring with the other bucket.

JIM ROSS: Unbelievable, King. Whatever will we see in the WWF next. This guy is three matches away from winning the WWF Title.

JERRY LAWLER: You’re right but winning three matches in the World Wrestling Federation is easier said than done. Especially when we know that he’d have to beat somebody like Kurt Angle or a Jeff Hardy at some stage!

JIM ROSS: Well, let’s just hope that his opponent tonight can eliminate him from the title picture right now ...

And his opponent, from Ghana, West Africa and weighing in at 221 pounds ... KOFI KINGSTON!

In his usual excited manner, Kofi bounds out onto the stage and slaps hands with his fans in the aisle as he makes his way towards the ring.

JIM ROSS: Great news, King. There is no way that the Evil Clown will be able to defeat an up and coming superstar like Kofi Kingston. Possibly the wrestler with the most potential to be a future star here in the WWF. And now he has a chance to win the top prize already ...

WWF TITLE TOURNAMENT – QUARTER FINAL MATCH
Doink the Clown vs. Kofi Kingston

Kingston enters the ring and hoists himself onto the middle turnbuckle to strike his ‘Boom! Boom! Boom!’ pose for the crowd before turning to eye Doink. A look of annoyance spreads to the face of Doink and he throws his bucket of water straight at Kingston and soaks him from head to toe ...

JIM ROSS: Behaviour like that doesn’t belong in the WWF ring, King, let alone a WWF Title Tournament. What is Randy Savage thinking?

The referee rings the bell but a furious Kofi runs after Doink the Clown who leaps through the ropes to the outside. A chase ensues as Doink tries to escape from Kingston by running around the ring. Kofi catches Doink as he tries to head up the ramp and drags him back towards the ring before Irish whipping him into the steel ring steps.

The crowd ‘Oooh’ and cheer for Kofi who steps back into the ring and starts to dry himself with a towel from ringside. Doink writhes around on the floor at ringside whilst the referee begins to count him out. Kofi decides at 7 to go and fetch the immobile Doink back into the ring.

JERRY LAWLER: What’s he doing, JR? Why doesn’t he leave Doink out there and win the match via countout?

JIM ROSS: That’s not Kofi’s way, King, and you know it. Kingston wants to win the match properly and he wants to punish Doink for his ridiculous tricks.

JERRY LAWLER: Well, I hope he doesn’t regret it.

Kingston drags Doink back into the ring and begins to beat down on him again. Another Irish Whip sees Doink smash into the corner of the ring with pain and agony etched all over his painted face. A series of forearm smashes follow as the crowd roars its approval. With Doink dazed and groggy, Kofi stands beside him and hits him with a flying forearm. With Doink barely moving, he goes for a cover. 1 ... 2 ... but Kofi lifts Doink’s head and shoulders up from the canvas.

Kofi Kingston: I’m not finished yet!

The crowd cheer as Kofi performs a Russian Leg Sweep on the struggling clown who makes an attempt to deliver punches towards him but fails miserably. As Doink staggers up to his feet, Kingston heads to the top rope for a drop kick from the top ... Doink moves out of the way though and Kofi hits the referee instead who drops down and out of the ring.

JIM ROSS: Oh no, an awful accident. We need some help out here for the referee!

Kofi hits a ‘Boom!’ drop on Doink before heading out of the ring to check on the referee. Despite being dazed, the referee encourages Kofi to return to the ring and tells him that he is coming ... The Ghanaian stands over Doink and signals for ‘Trouble in Paradise.’ He stands back from Doink in preparation and then spins round to deliver a perfect kick to the head of the clown, his green wig almost falling off with the intensity of the kick. Kofi covers Doink with the 3-count secured ... but the referee is not back in the ring yet!

JIM ROSS: Come on referee, get back in there and award Kofi the win!

Kingston stands up and goes outside the ring to help the referee up and back into the ring. The referee rolls back inside and begins to shake his head a little to clear it. Kofi checks him one more time and turns around ... Wham! Doink the Clown smashes his metal bucket into the side of the head of Kofi Kingston knocking him cold out on the mat! Doink throws the bucket out of the ring whilst the crowd jeer and whistle before covering Kofi. The referee slowly realises and begins the count ... 1 ... ... 2 ... ...

JIM ROSS: Kick out Kofi, damnit ...

... 3! It’s a victory for Doink the Clown! Doink slides out of the ring and collapses into the aisle before a smirk grows on his face as he realises what he just managed to do.

Here is you winner, advancing to the WWF Title Tournament Semi Finals ... DOINK THE CLOWN!

Medics rush to the ring to attend to the referee and the unconscious Kofi Kingston who is still laid out in the middle of the ring. Doink the Clown disappears backstage laughing as he goes.

JIM ROSS: Good God Almighty, King. What a crock that was! Doink the Clown never even managed to hit one move or lay one punch on Kofi Kingston. All he did was throw water over him and hit him with a steel bucket and he’s in the WWF Title Semi Finals?

JERRY LAWLER: Hopefully, Kofi will be OK but he looks pretty bad there.

JIM ROSS: When he is back on his feet, I wouldn’t like to be in the Evil Clown’s shoes ...

JERRY LAWLER: I can think of a few people who wouldn’t mind being in his shoes, JR, most of the Raw locker room in fact. He is in the Semi Finals of the tournament and is two wins from the title!

JIM ROSS: Well he wouldn’t be a champion to me winning like that. Over to Todd Grisham backstage – he is talking to a superstar in the next Quarter FInal right now.

The camera changes to the Raw backstage area where Todd Grisham is waiting to conduct an interview.

TODD GRISHAM: Thanks, JR. I’m here with Captain Charisma himself ... Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome WWF Title Tournament Quarter Finalist ... CHRISTIAN!

The crowd cheers as they realise that Christian is going to be in the Quarter Finals – a well deserved shot at the gold for the popular superstar.

TODD GRISHAM: Christian, I believe that you have something you want to get off your chest tonight ...

CHRISTIAN: Well, yes I do, Todd. Since the WWF website was launched, many people have seen the presence of two superstars on the Raw website right next to each other. They’ve seen that this former great Tag Team are side by side on the Raw roster on WWF.com and they’ve all been jumping to the same thought. Unfortunately, I’m going to disappoint people. Just because Edge and Christian happen to be side by side on the WWF website does not mean that we will be getting back together to re-form our Tag Team. I’ve moved on from that, I’m a singles competitor. I am Captain Charisma and I am going to win the WWF Title for all the Peeps out there ...

TODD GRISHAM: You’re in the Quarter Final to come next. Are you confident of victory?

CHRISTIAN: Of course I am. This is my shot, my big chance to win the title that has evaded me all through my career. I have been the Intercontinental Title, I was the ECW champion, I was multiple time Tag Team champion and European champion. I went to other organisations and won titles. It’s time for the Peeps and myself to celebrate a world championship reign. I intend to be in the Final match at Summerslam and I intend to win that match.

TODD GRISHAM: Thanks for the time, Christian.

*** COMMERCIAL BREAK ***

Raw returns with footage of Kofi Kingston being carried out of the arena on a stretcher after his attack from Doink the Clown. Replays of the bucket shot from Doink are played.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the following contest is set for one fall and is the second WWF Title Tournament Quarter Final.

Introducing first from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, weighing in at 227 pounds ... CHRISTIAN!

Christian heads out from backstage and shields his eyes as he surveys the Peeps in the crowd before heading for the ring with a confident look on his face.

JERRY LAWLER: Here comes Captain Charisma, JR, it’s great to have him back here on Raw!

JIM ROSS: Christian has been in the business for over a decade now and has never had a shot at the WWF Title. But he has one now albeit up against seven other men.

JERRY LAWLER: Six other men, JR. Remember that Doink just eliminated Mr Perfect from the tournament.

JIM ROSS: Don’t remind me of that, King. Here is his opponent ...

His opponent from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, weighing in at 234 pounds ... He is the Excellence of Execution ... BRET ‘THE HITMAN’ HART!

The crowd explodes as Bret Hart steps out from the backstage area dressed in pink and black with a leather jacket and pink shades covering his eyes. He walks determinedly towards the ring, high fiving fans on the way and enters the ring to acknowledge all four sides. He removes the jacket and heads back out of the ring to place his shades on a young child’s head.

JERRY LAWLER: This is the guy who I crowned at the first King of the Ring, JR. I regret it now ...

JIM ROSS: Do you?

JERRY LAWLER: No way! I hate Bret Hart, always have and I always will!

WWF TITLE TOURNAMENT – QUARTER FINAL MATCH
Christian vs. Bret ‘Hitman’ Hart

JIM ROSS: King, I’ve just been informed that the winner of this match will be facing Doink the Clown in the Semi Finals. I don’t mind either man getting through as long as he makes that clown pay in the next round after his actions tonight.

Christian and Bret Hart slap hands at the start of the match as a show of respect for each other before tying up together to start the match. Both men are capable amateur mat wrestlers and the early stages are very even as the two stars feel each other out. Eventually, Christian decides he doesn’t need to get involved in this type of wrestling with Bret Hart and he hooks Bret into a DDT and leaves him down on the mat and goes for the first cover of the match. 1 ... Bret Hart kicks out easily. Christian hits several uppercuts to his opponent before firing him across the ring to the ropes. As Bret bounces back, Christian slides under his legs before hitting him with a reverse kick that puts the Hitman down on the mat. Another cover from Christian ... 1 ... 2 ... No, kick out from Bret. Keeping his composure, Christian places a headlock hold on Bret and takes him down to the canvas again. Bret counters the hold by rolling Christian back onto his shoulder for a pinfall. 1 ... 2 ... Christian is forced to release the hold as he kicks out.

JIM ROSS: Christian is in control so far. Can he pull off a shock here?

Raw heads into an advert for the upcoming PPV, WWF Summerslam and introduces the theme tune for the event.

‘Breakout’ by the Foo Fighters

*** COMMERCIAL BREAK ***

Raw returns to the screen with Christian clapping his hands to get the crowd onside as he looks to put away Bret Hart

JIM ROSS: Christian is building momentum here as he hit the top rope dropkick during the break ...

Footage of Christian leaping from the top rope to dropkick Bret is shown.

As Bret gets to his feet, Christian springboards from the corner and attempts to deliver a kick to Bret’s face but he misses and crashes down to the mat on his back. Bret looks to take advantage and holds Christian’s legs as if setting for the sharpshooter but contents himself with a kick to the guts. With Bret back in the match and the crowd responding, he raises Christian to his feet and hits a snap suplex before covering Christian ... 1 ... 2 ... kick out from Captain Charisma! An inverted atomic drop from the Hitman is followed by a bulldog from the middle rope as Bret now gets into his familiar stride. Another cover follows from Bret, 1 ... 2 ... Christian escapes again, but Bret hits a Russian Legsweep to take Christian down for a third pinfall attempt. 1 ... 2 ... Not yet.

JERRY LAWLER: Come on Christian, don’t let him get into his stride.

JIM ROSS: We’ve seen this so many times from the Hitman, the WWF Hall of Famer.

Bret Hart lifts himself up onto the middle rope and delivers the point of his elbow to the gut of Christian before holding his arms aside to the crowd to pose for a moment. As Christian staggers to his feet, Bret hits the sleeper hold in the centre of the ring. Christian struggles in vain as Bret holds on tight but he manages to reach out to grab the rope, forcing Bret to break the hold. Christian reverses an Irish Whip from Bret Hart and sends the Hitman crashing chest-first into the turnbuckles in the corner of the ring and he staggers back. Christian signals the ‘Killswitch’ with his arms spread wide waiting for Bret to turn back round ... As Bret turns, Christian hooks him up and twists round before dropping down and crashing his opponent’s face into the mat with a loud crash. The Peeps in the crowd roar in approval as Christian makes the move to cover Bret again.

JERRY LAWLER: Killswitch! It’s got to be over! What a shock!

Christian covers the Hitman and hooks the leg for the pin. 1 ... 2 ... The crowd gasp as Bret kicks out at the last moment! Christian kneels on the mat and looks around in amazement, bewilderingly imploring the referee to signal a victory ...

JIM ROSS: Bret Hart survives the Killswitch! Oh my, Christian can’t believe it!

JERRY LAWLER: Me neither, hit him again Christian!

Christian looks determined as he stalks Bret Hart and looks set to hit the ‘Killswitch’ one more time. As Bret staggers to his feet, Christian hooks him up one more time, twists ... and crashes Bret’s face down into the mat a second time as the Peeps come un-glued in the crowd. As the referee prepares to count, the Peeps shout along with the count ... 1 ... 2 ... No! Unbelievably, Bret Hart kicks out a second time with the crowd now on its feet. Christian looks thoroughly frustrated and he rolls out of the ring and takes a steel chair from the timekeeper’s area. Back in the ring, the referee scalds Christian and orders him to get rid of the chair. Christian looks tormented and torn as he glances back and forth from Bret to the referee weighing up whether to swing. In the end, Christian does swing at the Hitman who ducks and rolls him up into a quick pin. 1 ... 2 ... Christian kicks out. As the referee kicks the chair out of the ring, Bret looks at Christian in disgust.

Bret Hart: What are you doing?

Christian holds his hands up in a form of apology and shakes his head a little before kicking out to Bret’s gut. With a few boos in evidence now after Christian’s attempted chair shot, Christian hits the DDT to give him some thinking time. As Bret lays on the mat in pain, Christian walks round in somewhat of a daze before heading for the top rope again ... waiting for Bret to get to his feet, Christian composes himself and goes for the dropkick ... but Bret catches his legs and Christian crashes down to the mat with Bret in position for the Sharpshooter! He steps through and crosses Christian’s legs before turning him over and pulling back to complete the move. With the crowd on their feet, Christian begins to show the pain on his face and squirms under the pressure, desperate to reach the bottom rope. With no progress from Christian, Bret increases the pressure again and finally, Christian has no option but to tap out!

Here is you winner, advancing to the WWF Title Tournament Semi Finals via submission ... BRET ‘HITMAN’ HART!

The Hitman’s music thunders out across the arena as the crowd cheer for the Semi Finalist. Bret offers his hand to the beaten Christian who is sat back up on the mat ... after a tense moment, Christian finally decides to ignore Bret and rolls out of the ring to boos as he heads back up the ramp. Bret shrugs and celebrates in the ring corners holding his hands high in victory.

JIM ROSS: A great effort from Christian but it’s Bret Hart who will head into the Semi Finals to face Doink the Clown for a place in the Summerslam match to determine the first WWF Champion.

JERRY LAWLER: Christian found out what I found out many moons ago. Once Bret hits that Sharpshooter, it’s almost impossible to escape it!

JIM ROSS: An excellent match though and Christian definitely looks a contender for big things here on WWF Raw!

*** COMMERCIAL BREAK ***

Raw returns to the screens with the sounds of ‘Metalingus’ accompanying the presence of a weary looking Edge in the middle of the ring. He is holding a microphone and looks annoyed still.

Edge: This is ridiculous! An injustice! At the start of the night, Randy Savage told me that I’d be involved in a Tag Team match tonight with three other Quarter Finalists ... I was fine with that. Even if it does mean that I have to team up with Carlito. I’m the ‘Rated-R Superstar’ and it doesn’t matter who my partner is.

There is still a mixed reaction from the crowd. Despite him clearly setting up to be a heel, there are plenty of ‘Edgeheads’ in the crowd.

Edge: But then, Savage comes to find me in the locker room. Tells me that there is a Smackdown vs. Raw match against Tatanka and he needs me to be involved in it. He tells me that it’s important for Raw to obtain another superstar ... So I do what I do. I’m Edge, the ‘Ultimate Opportunist’ ... I destroy Tatanka and win Raw a new superstar. And what do we get?

The crowd starts to chant ‘RKO! RKO! RKO!’ at Edge in the ring.

Edge: Randy Orton ... Tell me it’s not true somebody! I’ve spent years defeating that no-good loser and now he’s back here with me on Raw? And now I have to compete in the Tag Team match as well? Whilst Savage has obviously realised that you all pay your money to watch me, it’s not fair on my body. I shouldn’t have to wrestle twice in one night. The new General Manager ... ... is a joke!

???: Ohhhhh yeeeaaaahhhhh!

The crowd cheer as Randy Savage appears on the stage again with a microphone.

RANDY SAVAGE: Edge ... I am the General Manager round here, dig it ... I make the decisions. You’d better get used to it reeeaaallll soon, brother!

Edge looks mutinous in the ring as he stares up the ramp at the General Manager.

RANDY SAVAGE: So, listen up. I’ve just had a call from the Smackdown General Manager about the next Smackdown vs. Raw match on Friday night. It’s going to be a rematch from tonight. It’ll be you ... against the Native American, Tatanka ...

The crowd cheer excitedly again at the announcement.

RANDY SAVAGE: ... And I already know who the superstar is that is up for grabs. This is one of theeeee top stars in the world of wrestling and I want him on Raw. You understand me?

EDGE: Do I understand you, Savage? Understand you? I’ve got you worked out already ... But let me tell you one thing. I am the ‘Rated-R Superstar’ and I look after one person only – me! I heard my former partner earlier tonight saying that he doesn’t need me. Well, I don’t need anybody! Yeah, Savage, I understand you ...

RANDY SAVAGE: ... Then you’ll know how important it is that you beat Tatanka again then. And now it’s time for the main event. Ohhhh yeeeeaaaahhhh!

The Macho Man’s music hits and he leaves the stage with a wave to the crowd.

JIM ROSS: Join us after the break for the Main Event Tag Team match involving Edge here. He teams up with Carlito to face Kurt Angle and Jeff Hardy. Don’t go anywhere!

*** COMMERCIAL BREAK ***

Raw returns with Edge still in the ring awaiting the other members of the main event match.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this match is a tag team contest set for one fall. Already in the ring, the ‘Rated R Superstar’ ... EDGE!

... And his partner, weighing in at 231 pounds from The Caribbean ... CARLITO!

Carlito heads out to the ring carrying a shiny red apple which he throws up and down in a cocky manner. He gets into the ring and raises his eyebrows at Edge who stares back at him.

JERRY LAWLER: I love this guy, Carlito!

JIM ROSS: Well somebody has to love him, King. The WWF Universe doesn’t seem to agree with you though!

JERRY LAWLER: That’s not cool!

The crowd explode as the music hits and the purple lights start swirling all around the arena

And their opponents ... First, from Cameron, North Carolina, weighing in at 215 pounds ... JEFF HARDY!

Jeff Hardy enters the arena with his hands and legs dancing in his own unique style. As the fireworks explode, he slaps hands with his fans as he heads to the ring before sliding into the ring and saluting his fans with the ‘Hardy salute’ from the corners of the ring.

JIM ROSS: The crowd are electric for the return of one of the World Wrestling Federation’s favourite sons ... the charismatic enigma that is Jeff Hardy!

JERRY LAWLER: I can hardly hear myself think, JR!

The fans cheer for another returning legend of the WWF with a large number of them joining in with the music to chant ‘You Suck!’ in a weird show of respect ...

And his partner ... from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, weighing in at 240 pounds ... he is an Olympic gold medal winner ... KURT ANGLE!

The fireworks explode behind Kurt Angle as he holds his hands up high, his gold medals swinging around his neck as he heads towards the ring decked out in red, white and blue.

JERRY LAWLER: And here is another legend of the WWF, JR ...

JIM ROSS: Yes, King, this man is a 13-time World Champion, was named ‘Wrestler of the Decade’ earlier this year and won the gold medal at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. He is a true wrestling legend, never mind just a WWF legend, and he represents his country with pride.

In the ring, Carlito will start off for his team whilst Angle and Jeff discuss their starting tactics and Jeff stays in the ring to start.

MAIN EVENT – TAG TEAM MATCH
Edge and Carlito vs. Jeff Hardy and Kurt Angle

Carlito and Jeff circle each other for a moment giving Jeff chance to lock eyes with his former rival, Edge, in the corner. Whilst Edge talks smack to Jeff to distract him, Carlito rushes Jeff and starts to pummel him in the corner of the ring. With Jeff Hardy forced down into the corner, Carlito walks away distracting the referee while Edge chokes Hardy in the corner to the boos of the crowd. Jeff staggers to his feet and Carlito hits a running knee lift that shakes Hardy before hitting the ropes and delivering a clothesline before tagging in Edge. Looking a little weary from his earlier efforts, Edge goes to work on Hardy with kicks to the mid-section before uttering a few words in Kurt Angle’s direction to entice him into the ring. As the referee is distracted by Angle, Edge uses a closed fist to pummel Hardy before the referee drags him away.

A ‘Hardy!’ chant begins in the crowd as Edge is pulled away.

Edge walks over to tag in his partner Carlito but then runs over the ring and smashes into Angle and knocks him down where he lands awkwardly on the ringsteps. Edge, laughing, heads back to the corner of the ring. Carlito Irish Whips Jeff into their corner and uses the ropes to springboard into a back elbow smash as Jeff staggers to his feet. Carlito goes for the first cover of the match. 1 ... 2 ... Jeff kicks out. As Kurt Angle slowly gets back up to the ring apron in his corner of the ring, Carlito tags in Edge and they double team Jeff in the corner as the referee hands out a 4-count before Carlito exits. Edge lifts Hardy to his feet but he is hit by a reverse mule-kick from Hardy that sends Edge to the mat. Jeff begins to crawl towards his corner where Angle is waiting for the tag but Edge tags Carlito first and the Caribbean ‘Bad Apple’ prevents it.

JIM ROSS: Jeff Hardy needs to find a way to tag in Kurt Angle here. Can he find a way?

*** COMMERCIAL BREAK ***

Raw returns showing footage of Jeff Hardy rallying against Carlito and making the tag to Kurt Angle.

JIM ROSS: Here comes the Gold medal winning Angle! Business will pick up now!

Angle begins to use his amateur background to take down Carlito before beginning to suplex the Caribbean several times. A clothesline takes Carlito down again and Kurt goes for the pinfall. 1 ... 2 ... So close for Kurt Angle! With Carlito in trouble, Angle starts to prepare for the ‘Angle Slam’ waiting and watching as Carlito slowly gets to his feet ... He starts to move towards Carlito at the perfect moment but suddenly, Edge charges across the ring and smashes Kurt with a spear!

JERRY LAWLER: Wait a minute, Edge isn’t legal is he?

JIM ROSS: The referee missed it, he was checking on Jeff Hardy. And now both legal men – Angle and Carlito – are down.

The referee begins his count as Jeff starts to stir outside the ring in the corner. Just Edge is on his feet, willing Carlito to cover Angle which he very slowly does ... 1 ... 2 ... No! Kurt Angle kicks out and Edge screams in frustration in the corner. Carlito makes the tag and Edge steams back into the ring with stiff kicks to Angle that forces him into the corner. He lifts the Olympian up and hits his Impaler DDT leaving Angle sprawled out on the mat. Edge retreats to the corner and begins to pull at his hair like a madman. Waiting to strike ... Angle gets up and Edge charges but misses ... Angle lifts him up and delivers the ‘Angle Slam’ but doesn’t have the energy to make the cover. As Jeff begins to urge his partner to make the tag, the crowd begin clapping and cheering Angle. He reaches out and makes the tag to Jeff who immediately heads for the top rope. He gives the ‘Hardy salute’ and dives off the ropes to deliver a stunning Swanton Bomb to the lifeless Edge ... Before Hardy can cover Edge though, Carlito rushes in and forces Jeff back into the corner with a series of punches. However, Jeff counters and responds with a ‘Whisper in the Wind’ to knock Carlito down and out of the ring. Jeff finally makes the cover on Edge ... 1 ... 2 ... Oh, so close for Jeff Hardy!

JIM ROSS: So close for Hardy ... but wait a minute, look who’s here.

The camera shows that Christian is walking down the ramp towards the ring. He stops at the bottom of the ramp watching the action ...

Jeff Hardy notices the approaching Christian and stares out of the ring to check he is staying there. Content, Jeff climbs the ropes to deliver a leg drop to Edge ... but Edge rolls out of the way and Jeff makes a tough landing. However, Kurt Angle makes the blind tag to his partner and enters the ring fired up and pulling down the straps of his outfit to reveal his chest. The crowd roar as he turns Edge over and hooks in the ankle lock submission hold with a grapevine to gain extra leverage. With the referee down with Edge, Christian makes a move and picks up Jeff Hardy outside the ring. He rams him into the steel ring steps forcefully causing Kurt Angle to release Edge and walk over to confront Christian. As Christian argues with Kurt from outside, Edge sneaks up behind Angle and drags him down into a schoolboy pinfall. 1 ... 2 ... 3! Edge pins Kurt Angle!

Here are your winners ... EDGE and CARLITO!

Kurt Angle turns and looks furious as he heads out of the ring after Christian. Christian starts to run away before heading back into the ring where Edge hits Angle with a vicious clothesline. A knowing smile spreads across Edge and Christian’s faces and they embrace each other ...

JIM ROSS: Oh my goodness! Could it be?

JERRY LAWLER: I think it might, JR! Edge and Christian! This reeks of ... awesomeness!

JIM ROSS: This would be huge news for Raw! They are one of the best tag teams ever in the WWF!

JERRY LAWLER: The best tag team ever, JR!

Edge and Christian both rush out of the ring and each pick up a steel chair before heading back into the ring. Carlito hobbles away to the back after a shrug of his shoulders with no intention of stopping them. As Angle staggers to his feet, both Edge and Christian swing their chairs and smash him on the side of the head to send him to the mat.

JIM ROSS: Good God Almighty, King, they nearly took his head off! Somebody has to stop this!

Christian heads out of the ring and picks up Jeff Hardy and rolls him back into the ring. As Jeff staggers to his feet, Edge smashes him hard in the head with a steel chair again to lay him down next to Angle. Christian brings two more chairs into the ring and the crowd realise what is coming ...

JERRY LAWLER: Oh no, JR, you know what’s coming next, don’t you?

JIM ROSS: Edge and Christian? Four chairs? Two opponents? It can only mean one thing ...

Edge slides a steel chair underneath the head of Kurt Angle whilst Christian does the same to Jeff Hardy. Both men pick up the remaining chairs and stand over the two fallen stars raising their chairs high above their heads ...

JERRY LAWLER: Here it comes ... ‘Con-chair-to’ to Hardy and Angle!

... and smash the chairs down onto the skulls of Angle and Hardy as the crowd jeers loudly ... although there are a few cheers mixed in amongst them. The old ‘Edge and Christian’ music hits ...

... and Edge and Christian leave the ring together celebrating the demise of their foes.

JIM ROSS: It looks official! Edge and Christian are back together and looking unstoppable ...

JERRY LAWLER: Oh my! But what state are Jeff Hardy and Kurt Angle going to be in next week on Monday Night Raw?

JIM ROSS: We’ll have to see but I think it’s going to benefit Edge ... and Carlito as well ... next week on Raw as they take part in their Quarter Final matches. Join us for that! Good night!

Really great show Chip! Great promos, long and detailed matches and really interesting feuds and matches have already opened up! (Really like E&C back together). But I'm a little confused. When is this set? You say that Christian just recently won the ECW Title (2009/2010) but Mr Perfect is in your organisation?

It's set now - I've used the latest scientific technologies to bring Mr Perfect and the others into the current time!

WOW! Sounds like a great device, that explains everything. Anyway, great first show and keep it up. BTW I like how you use the South Park designs.

MICHAEL COLE: Welcome to Friday Night Smackdown as the WWF returns to Friday nights, I’m Michael Cole at ringside with my broadcast colleague, Josh Matthews.

JOSH MATTHEWS: Thank you Michael, welcome to Friday Night Smackdown ladies and gentlemen. Friday nights are set to get a lot more interesting from now on ...

The Smackdown theme fades and is replaced by a new theme as the crowd turns expectantly towards the Smackdown stage.

Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome, accompanied to the ring by Virgil ... the MILLION DOLLAR MAN TED DIBIASE!

Remembering the Million Dollar Man’s antics from his past, the crowd immediately begin to boo and jeer knowing that DiBiase is guaranteed to be a heel. Strutting to the ring in a smart suit with gold trim and a diamond-studded ‘Million Dollar Title’ belt strapped around his waist, the billionaire superstar laughs his famous laugh as he leads Virgil to the ring.

MICHAEL COLE: Well this is sure to be an interesting start, Josh. The Million Dollar Man is never ever stuck for a word or two.

JOSH MATTHEWS: Let’s find out what he wants.

DiBiase stands in the middle of the ring with a microphone in his hand as Virgil stands in the corner of the ring. The crowd quieten as they prepare to listen.

TED DIBIASE: I bet you were all expecting to hear from the General Manager of Smackdown first up, weren’t you? Well I’m here to tell you this ... The Million Dollar Man waits for no man and I wanted to come out here first and let you all know my plans for my return to the World Wrestling Federation. So I approached the General Manager with a few hundred dollar bills and bought myself the first time segment on the new WWF Smackdown show.

DiBiase laughs out loud as the crowd boo him.

TED DIBIASE: I am a successful man, a brilliant businessman, a billionaire ... I am extremely well off in the wrestling ring as well and it’s only a matter of time before I have WWF gold to add to the significant gold already under my ownership. However, a rich man like me is always going to be a target and I need protection. I need men who are willing to pay the price, men who are willing to take a bullet for me when needed. I need them to protect me ... and I will pay them well. Tonight, before your eyes, I will begin to re-form my Million Dollar Corporation.

Virgil applauds in the corner whilst DiBiase walks around the ring laughing and smiling as the crowd chant ‘You suck!’ to him.

TED DIBIASE: You can chant what I like, you’re just a set of peasants that wouldn’t have as much money as me if you all put it together and multiplied it by a few thousand. So sit down and shut up and welcome my ...

There is no way that the crowd are willing to ‘sit down and shut up’ on the command of the Million Dollar Man ...

TED DIBIASE: ... sit down, shut up and welcome two members of my Million Dollar Corporation, the mainstay of my team last time out ... the man who always makes sure I’ve paid my taxes, IRWIN R. SCHYSTER, IRS ... and the formidable HEIDENREICH.

The figures of IRS and Heidenreich exit from the backstage and head towards the ring, threatening the crowd as they walk down the ramp. They enter the ring and shake hands with DiBiase who hands them both a wad of cash ... Heidenreich waves his at the front row whilst shouting further insults and IRS pats his briefcase whilst mouthing off at the crowd about paying their taxes.

TED DIBIASE: These two men are my insurance policy. These two men will protect me at all times and I will make them wealthy as a result. But I need some more brains in my corporation, a man that has been around WWF Smackdown recently, a man with experience to make a significant impact on the Million Dollar Corporation. And now I know the man I want to join the team. That man is ... MATT HARDY!

Cheers fill the arena as the crowd look towards the stage for the arrival of the ever-popular Matt Hardy ... but Hardy fails to show on the stage and his music isn’t heard. DiBiase talks hurriedly to Virgil in the corner of the ring before composing himself to address the WWF Universe again.

TED DIBIASE: It seems that we haven’t been able to contact Hardy yet ... but we will do. And when we do, your hero Matt Hardy will join our Million Dollar Corporation because money makes the world go round and ... Everybody has a price for the Million Dollar Man!

‘Money!’ sounds in the arena again as the laughing Million Dollar Man and his corporation take their leave and head back to the stage to exit the arena to a cascade of boos and jeers.

MICHAEL COLE: There’s no way that Matt Hardy will join the Million Dollar Man is there?

JOSH MATTHEWS: You’d like to think not, Cole, but we all know that Hardy is capable of a surprise or two. And DiBiase could easily make it worth his while.

MICHAEL COLE: That said, we have our first match on Smackdown coming up and it’s a re-match of the first match on this week’s Monday Night Raw as Tatanka and Edge face each other in the ring ...

JOSH MATTHEWS: It’s going to be the second Smackdown vs. Raw match to determine the destinations of six secret WWF superstars who haven’t yet been told which brand they’ll be competing on. The first superstar won was the Viper, Randy Orton, and he made an impact on Raw after the match. Let’s see what happened ...

A video package is played showing the highlights of the speech made by Chip Butty and the match between Edge and Tatanka. It shows Tatanka’s near fall after his Samoan Drop before showing the brutal spear from the ‘Rated-R Superstar’ and the winning pinfall. Randy Orton arrives on Raw and RKO’s the Native American as the highlights end.

*** COMMERCIAL BREAK ***

Ladies and Gentlemen, this match is set for one fall and is a Smackdown vs. Raw match where the winner will win his brand a brand new superstar for their roster after Summerslam.

Introducing first, representing Monday Night Raw and weighing in at 241 pounds, from Toronto, Ontario, Canada ... he is the ‘Rated R Superstar’ ... EDGE!

Edge strides out of the mist on the stage looking determined to win for a second time against Tatanka. His fireworks explode and he slides under the bottom rope and into the ring looking confident.

MICHAEL COLE: Here is a man, Josh, who has held the World titles on ten different occasions. After winning his match on Raw with Tatanka on Monday, he then was involved in a tag team match with Carlito against Kurt Angle and Jeff Hardy ... and he won that match too. He also re-teamed with his former tag team partner, Christian, and is looking to win the WWF Title at Summerslam. There is no doubt that Edge has made the biggest impact so far in the returning World Wrestling Federation ...

JOSH MATTHEWS: True, Cole, but Tatanka pushed him all the way on Monday night and could have beaten him.

And his opponent, representing SMACKDOWN, weighing in at 285 pounds, from Pembroke, North Carolina, he is ... TATANKA!

Deafening cheers greet the arrival of Tatanka on Smackdown as he arrives on the stage wearing his blue trunks and his familiar head-dress. He heads for the ring running with his tomahawk, a determined look on his face.

MICHAEL COLE: Tatanka will need to be on top of his game tonight to defeat Edge and win Smackdown the next free superstar, that is for sure! Edge looks fired up and ready to prove a point here tonight.

JOSH MATTHEWS: Most of Edge’s career has recently been spent on Smackdown so he is familiar with the place. He was also told in no uncertain terms by Raw’s General Manager, Randy Savage, that he was to win tonight.

SMACKDOWN vs. RAW MATCH 2
Tatanka vs. Edge

The match begins with a stare-down between the two competitors in the middle of the ring. Edge is talking smack to Tatanka who is responding to the taunts with a cheery look on his face. Eventually, Edge – sick of the smug look on his opponent – lashes out and starts landing lefts and rights to his face and back and forces Tatanka to the corner. Edge spears him into the corner of the ring and then grabs him by the tights and tosses him out of the ring before taunting the crowd as the Native American gets to his feet outside the ring.

MICHAEL COLE: Confident start from Edge, Josh ...

JOSH MATTHEWS: He looks like he means business here tonight.

Tatanka slides back into the ring, strides back over to Edge and pushes him hard in the chest. Edge responds with a right hand but he pushes Edge away again and sends him crashing through the ropes to the floor getting a positive ovation from the crowd. Edge stomps his feet on the ring steps as he gets back into the ring looking furious. The two men tie up and Edge locks a headlock onto Tatanka, tightening his grip, before Tatanka shoots Edge off into the ropes and hits a vicious clothesline to send Edge down to the mat and out of the ring for a second time to the delight of the crowd.

MICHAEL COLE: Edge is finding out that it’s not going to be a walk in the park here tonight. Smackdown returns in a moment.

*** COMMERCIAL BREAK ***

Smackdown returns with a couple of replays showing Edge going for the spear and missing before Tatanka hits him with a running DDT.

JOSH MATTHEWS: Welcome back to Friday Night Smackdown where Tatanka is beginning to dominate Edge here.

MICHAEL COLE: But this is where Edge becomes dangerous, Josh, Tatanka had the match under control on Monday but still lost!

Tatanka drags Edge into the corner of the ring and rests him back against the turnbuckles before Irish whipping him to the opposite corner. He follows in with a clothesline in the corner and reduces Edge to a wreck in the corner. Hitting him in the head with a tomahawk chop, Tatanka forces Edge down to the mat before pulling him out for the first pinfall attempt of the night. 1 ... 2 ... Edge kicks out weakly! Edge rolls out of the ring as the crowd boo and jeer him but Tatanka shrieks in a war-cry before following him out of the ring. As Edge begins to make his way up the ramp, the Native American catches him and grabs him by the head and drags him back before shoulder charging him into the ring apron. The crowd winces as Edge crumples again and Tatanka shrieks again before dragging Edge up and running him into the steel ring post. The referee shouts out to Tatanka to get Edge back in the ring and he obliges ...

As Tatanka follows, Edge attempts to hit a few punches to get back into the fight but these are shrugged off easily as Tatanka stalks after his opponent. As Edge reaches the ropes, the referee attempts to stop the Native American and Edge lifts his foot to hit a low blow that the referee cannot see. Tatanka falls in a heap as the crowd groan in sympathy and Edge starts to recover himself. Taunting the crowd, Edge starts to look more like his cocky, arrogant self before heading over to Tatanka. He hits the Impaler DDT on him and retreats to the corner of the ring ... waiting ... ready to pounce ...

Bubba Ray, D’Von and Spike Dudley appear on the Smackdown stage as Edge prepares for the spear. Edge’s tag team rivalry with the Dudley Boys in the past was legendary and he is immediately distracted by the arrival of his former foes. As the Dudley Boys make their way down the ramp towards the ring, Edge stands at the ropes shouting at them.

MICHAEL COLE: What are they doing here?

JOSH MATTHEWS: They seem to be here to confront Edge by the look of it, Cole ...

As Edge stands at the ropes distracted by the Dudley Boys, Tatanka gets to his feet and charges across the ring towards his opponent. Caught by surprise, Edge is hit by a clotheline that sends him up and over the ropes to the outside. Tatanka follows and fixes a stare at the Dudleys who stand back and allow him to continue. Edge attempts an Irish Whip but Tatanka reverses and sends the ‘Rated R Superstar’ into the barricades before snap-maring him on the outside. With the crowd cheering him on, Tatanka rolls Edge back into the ring and climbs the ropes. As Edge stands up groggy, the Native American dives from the top turnbuckle and connects with a dropkick that sends Edge crashing to the mat. 1 ... 2 ... Oh, so close! As both men get up, Edge catches his opponent with a punch to the mid-section and a series of rights and lefts from both men ensues with Tatanka eventually gaining the upper hand again.

MICHAEL COLE: Well, the Dudleys just appear to be watching, Josh.

A shoulder block from Tatanka sends Edge down again and he begins to feel the momentum as he sets Edge up for another Samoan Drop. Edge fights out and – out of nowhere – catches Tatanka with a spear as he comes off the ropes. Edge hooks the leg ... 1 ... 2 .. No! Tatanka isn’t finished yet! The crowd roar their approval as Edge flips in the ring before catching the eyes of the Dudleys again on the outside. Edge rolls out of the ring and confronts Bubba Ray and D’Von.

EDGE: What do you freaks want? Get out of here!

BUBBA RAY DUDLEY: You know what, Edge? You’ve got a lot of nerve and a little bit too much mouth for my liking?

D’VON DUDLEY: Oh yeah, my brother, testify!

EDGE: Stay out of my face, guys, or else ...

Tatanka spins Edge back around and clobbers him before running him back into the ring. Another clothesline leaves Edge out on the mat and Tatanka lifts him up onto his back and shoulders as the crowd goes wild. With Edge held above him, Tatanka looks out to the Dudley Boys who nod their heads and begin to head back out of the arena ... Holding him up, Edge’s blonde hair trailing down to the mat ... Tatanka crashes backwards, down to the mat as the he completes the Samoan Drop. 1 ... 2 ... 3!

Here is your winner ... TATANKA!

MICHAEL COLE: And Smackdown has the next big name superstar!

JOSH MATTHEWS: I wonder who it will be!

Tatanka celebrates in the ring as his music sounds out around the arena and Edge slinks out of the ring and staggers up the ramp. Suddenly, the music stops and another theme plays instead!

Edge turns in horror as Brock Lesnar powers out from backstage towards him.

JOSH MATTHEWS: Oh my goodness, Cole, here comes the pain! It’s Brock Lesnar!

MICHAEL COLE: He must be the Smackdown prize for winning this match! What a coup for Smackdown!

Brock Lesnar laughs at Edge as he shuffles on the spot, rolling his neck around, before heading towards Edge and kicking him in the guts before lifting him up for a devastating F-5 on the stage!

JOSH MATTHEWS: Goodbye, Edge! Consider yourself beaten!

*** COMMERCIAL BREAK ***

Smackdown returns with footage of Brock Lesnar hitting the F-5 to the ‘Rated R Superstar’ Edge before the break.

MICHAEL COLE: Welcome back to Friday Night Smackdown and what a start we’ve had. We’ve heard from the Million Dollar Man, seen a classic match between Edge and Tatanka and found out that Brock Lesnar will be joining us here on Friday Nights!

JOSH MATTHEWS: And now it’s time to meet the new owner and the new General Manager of Smackdown!

Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome the owner of World Wrestling Federation ... CHIP BUTTY!

ChipButty.jpg

Chip Butty strides out to the ring shaking hands with the people in the aisle and ringside before heading into the ring with a microphone. The timekeeper also passes two title belts into the ring as well – the World Title and the US Title.

CHIP BUTTY: Wow! What a start to Friday Night Smackdown!

The crowd cheer after an amazing start to the show ...

CHIP BUTTY: If you saw me on Monday Night, you’ll know that I handed the new Raw General Manager, Randy Savage, the WWF Title and the Intercontinental Title to hand out as he chose. Well, tonight, the new Smackdown General Manager will get these two titles to do the same. After seeing what Brock Lesnar just did to Edge, I’d suggest that any Smackdown superstar wanting the World Title gets it by Summerslam as they might struggle after that!

Chip strides to the corner of the ring and carefully places the two title belts down before returning to the centre.

CHIP BUTTY: So without further ado, let’s all meet the Smackdown General Manager ... WILLIAM REGAL!

William Regal marches out with a smart suit on and heads towards the ring giving little royal-like waves to the crowds at ringside. The crowd jeer the new General Manager knowing that he has always been a snide, underhand superstar in the past and it doesn’t look like he has changed at all. Regal enters the ring and shakes hands with the owner, Chip Butty, before taking a microphone.

WilliamRegal.jpg

WILLIAM REGAL: Good evening, all my friends here on Smackdown, Hello!

Regal waves to all sides of the arena and is seemingly oblivious whilst the crowd boo and hiss with a few people sarcastically waving back.

WILLIAM REGAL: I am the new General Manager here on Smackdown and so, I have an announcement to make ... Due to my new role here in the World Wrestling Federation, I would like to formally announce that my career as an active wrestler is now over.

The crowd cheer at that announcement and Regal looks pleased with the reaction.

WILLIAM REGAL: Thank you for the appreciation that you have shown me for my wonderful career. Thank you. But now down to business, Mr Butty ...

CHIP BUTTY: The titles?

WILLIAM REGAL: Yes, the titles. The World Title in fact. Now I know that Randy Savage on Raw is having a tournament that ends at Summerslam for the WWF Title. Well I’m going to do something a little different.

CHIP BUTTY: Go on then, tell us.

WILLIAM REGAL: I am a man of integrity and honour and I like to think that I can choose an appropriate champion for my Smackdown show. Therefore, in two weeks time, I will announce who the World Heavyweight Champion will be. I am looking for somebody to impress me and show me that they deserve this title.

CHIP BUTTY: Just make sure whoever gets it, deserves it, Mr Regal.

Chip turns and leaves the ring leaving Regal alone in the ring to address the crowd.

WILLIAM REGAL: All any of the Smackdown superstars need to do is impress me here on Friday Nights ... or even on Monday Nights when they fight in the Smackdown vs. Raw match. So let’s see if any of my new roster can impress me ... We’ve got a match coming up after this break.

*** COMMERCIAL BREAK ***

The following contest is set for one fall.

First up, from The Isle of Samoa, weighing in at 425 pounds ... RIKISHI!

The crowd give the returning Rikishi a cheer as he enters the arena wearing his Samoan style customised Rikishi outfit.

MICHAEL COLE: Here is a big man, Josh. Rikishi has to be a contender for one of those belts that Regal has to give out!

JOSH MATTHEWS: After William Regal’s announcement before, it is vitally important that all the Smackdown superstars make a good impression as soon as they possibly can!

MICHAEL COLE: Well, the big Samoan here has his chance to impress but who will he be facing?

And his opponent, from San Francisco, California, weighing in at 271 pounds ... BRUTUS ‘THE BARBER’ BEEFCAKE!

MICHAEL COLE:
Hulk Hogan’s best friend!

JOSH MATTHEWS: A real blast from the past, Michael, could he be the first Smackdown champion?

Brutus Beefcake comes out to a positive reaction and starts chopping the air with his hedge trim ... sorry, barber’s shears. The crowd give him a nice ovation as he strides into the ring and chops his shears in the direction of Rikishi.

SMACKDOWN MATCH
Brutus ‘Barber’ Beefcake vs. Rikishi

The bell rings and these two superstars come together in the middle of the ring. They tie up and grapple but Rikishi is too strong for Beefcake and edges him back into the corner. The referee breaks the hold and they return to the centre of the ring. Beefcake tries to get round the back of Rikishi this time and take him down but finds the big man immovable and cannot manage it. Rikishi shuffles back and crushes Beefcake in the corner again with a grin on his face. However, Beefcake now goes low and takes out Rikishi’s leg sending the Samoan down to one knee. A few forearm smashes from Beefcake give him the upper hand and he heads for the middle turnbuckle to give Rikishi an axe-handle drive ... Rikishi swats the Barber away before hitting a clothesline to leave Beefcake sprawled on the mat.

MICHAEL COLE: How on earth is Beefcake supposed to impress in this match? One move from the big man and he’s down and out.

JOSH MATTHEWS: He needs to wrestle cleverly and pick his spots, Cole. Rikishi is beatable but it’ll be difficult!

Beefcake rolls out of the ring and composes himself before sliding back in and sees Rikishi grinning at him across the ring. Beefcake walks over to the big man and pushes him hard in the chest causing Rikishi to snap a right hand at him. Beefcake ducks and hits the ropes to deliver a chop-block to Rikishi’s knee. With the Samoan down to one knee, Beefcake again hits the ropes and crashes into Rikishi with a high knee to the face that sends him down to the canvas. 1 ... 2 ... Rikishi powers out! As Rikishi gets to his feet, Brutus jumps on his back and locks in a sleeper hold from behind. With Rikishi fading quickly, Beefcake tries to tighten his grip and the referee positions himself for the submission. Rikishi drops down and Beefcake levers himself over to increase the pressure. With Rikishi wilting, the referee checks his arm. 1 ... 2 ... Has Rikishi been sent to sleep? No! Rikishi rallies and gets to his feet lifting Beefcake up on his back as he holds on. Rikishi positions himself and falls back crushing Beefcake against the turnbuckle as the crowd groans.

MICHAEL COLE: Ouch, that’s got to hurt, what a counter move from Rikishi!

Rikishi gets to his feet and sees his opponent sprawled against the turnbuckle and the crowd realise what’s coming next ... Rikishi walks to the corner swinging his arms up and down ready to deliver the stinkface. He walks backwards across the ring and drills his backside into the face of Beefcake whose head presses back against the buckle and rubs against the Samoans ass. With the crowd cheering, Rikishi moves away and starts to size up his finishing move, the Samoan drop when all of a sudden the lights go off and ...

Flashes of red explode all around the arena as the ‘Big Red Monster’ strides out from the back wearing his old mask to cover his deformed face, his dark hair matted all around his head. The old Kane is back!

MICHAEL COLE: What the hell? It’s Kane! What on earth does he want from these two?

JOSH MATTHEWS: It sure isn’t going to be a good thing, Michael ...

Kane stands in the ring facing a confused Rikishi and raises his arms high before slamming them down to signal a huge explosion in the corners of the ring.

Rikishi is joined by Brutus Beefcake who looks equally bewildered. Both men realise that they have nothing to lose and attack the ‘Big Red Monster’ who stumbles back. However, they cannot contain Kane who suddenly lifts up Beefcake and hits a chokeslam that leaves him devastated on the mat. Rikishi drops out of the ring to fetch a steel chair which he tries to attack Kane with ... but this doesn’t work either and Rikishi ends up taking a chair shot from Kane followed by a chokeslam of his own. Finally, Kane picks up what is left of Beefcake and delivers a crushing tombstone piledriver onto the chair.

JOSH MATTHEWS: I’ve got a feeling that Kane is trying to impress Mr Regal here, Cole.

MICHAEL COLE: That’s an unsettling thought. We’ve got another two episodes of Smackdown before Regal is handing out the title. Think of the destruction that Kane could cause by then.

As Rikishi and Brutus Beefcake are helped from the ring, Kane is handed a microphone and he prepares to speak. An eerie red light fills the arena and deep, rattling breaths can be heard from the mask as he speaks slowly.

KANE: I was ... the last World Champion ... But none of you ... none of you respected me. You were all waiting ... waiting for the return of my brother. Well ... hahaha ... he’s not here ... I am. Regal ... I want my World Title back ... I want it back now.

The crowd begin to boo but Kane is not about to be silenced.

KANE: Regal ... Now. I deserve it. It’s my title ... My World Title. Bring it ... to me ... or face the consequences.

There is a long pause as Kane waits for William Regal to walk out with his World Title. However, Regal is not the man who enters the arena ...

The crowd erupt at the sight of the Y2J countdown clock and the red light disappears to be replaced with flashing lights. In the entrance to the arena, a silhouette appears of Chris Jericho stood with his arms stretched out wide. He turns around and walks out onto the stage with fireworks exploding above his head. He is dressed in a shiny jacket and long wrestling tights and is looking arrogant and cocky but has a smile on his face for a change ...

MICHAEL COLE: It’s Jericho but ... look, it’s the Y2J version of Chris Jericho!

Jericho has a microphone in his hands and he positions himself at the top of the ramp gazing out around the arena as Kane fixes him a stare from the ring.

KANE: What are you doing ... ?

JERICHO: I’m the big, red monster, I’m the last World Champ, I’m the man who deserves it, Regal come out here and give it to me ...

Jericho pauses for a moment to allow the crowd to realise what his last comment was before continuing on.

JERICHO: ... Give it to me, Regal. I’m the champ, my brothers gone ... Give it me, give it me now ... WON’T YOU PLEASE ... SHUT THE HELL UP?!!!

Kane stares out at Jericho as the crowd cheers and joins in with Jericho’s famous catchphrase.

JERICHO: The crowd haven’t paid to hear your boring tirade, Kane. They’ve paid to see the ... AYATOLLAH OF ROCK AND ROLLA ... they’ve paid to see their new hero, Y2J, come here to save the World Title. So let me introduce things.

A loud ‘Y2J!’ chant starts up as Jericho waits for a moment ...

JERICHO: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to ... SMACKDOWN ... IS ... JERICHO! My name is Chris Jericho ... I am the most charismatic man to ever appear on WWF television ... I am the best in the world at what I do. And I am back to win the World Title!

The crowd erupts and are fully behind Y2J’s efforts to win the World Title. The ‘Y2J’ chants continue whilst Kane still stares impassively in the ring.

JERICHO: So I am out here now, Kane, and I’ll say this real simple so that you can understand it. Jericho ... against ... Kane ... tonight. And after tonight, my friend, I can guarantee you that you will never ... EVER ... be the same, again.

Jericho’s music hits and the crowd cheer their appreciation as Smackdown heads into another commercial break.

The camera shows the ring announcer in the Smackdown ring ready for the next match tonight.

This tag team match is set for one fall.

Introducing first, accompanied to the ring by Heidenreich and Virgil, weighing in at a combined weight of 580 pounds, the team of IRS and the MILLION DOLLAR MAN TED DIBIASE!

MICHAEL COLE: The whole Million Dollar Corporation is out here for this match. They must be serious about it!

JOSH MATTHEWS: Maybe they’re trying to impress people, Cole? Like William Regal and maybe Matt Hardy as well?

As the Million Dollar Corporation heads to ringside, a replay of the Million Dollar Man’s comments about Matt Hardy are shown.

JOSH MATTHEWS: I can’t see Matt Hardy joining the Million Dollar Corporation. He doesn’t even need to be on Smackdown as far as I’m aware!

And their opponents, accompanied by Spike Dudley, from Dudleyville, weighing in at a combined weight of 580 pounds ... BUBBA RAY ... D’VON ... THE DUDLEY BOYS!

The Dudleys come rushing out onto the stage with Spike Dudley in front. Bubba Ray and D’Von salute the crowds from the stage with their ‘Dudley salute’ but then cut it short as they realise that Heidenreich has hold of Spike Dudley at ringside ...

MICHAEL COLE: What’s Heidenreich doing with Spike Dudley over there?

Heidenreich throws Spike into the ringpost before hitting him with a spinning side slam on the outside. As Bubba Ray and D’Von reach their little brother, Heidenreich is back on the opposite side of the ring with the rest of the Corporation as Smackdown heads to a commercial break.

*** COMMERCIAL BREAK ***

Smackdown returns with footage of Spike Dudley being stretchered out of the arena and the referee sending Heidenreich back to the locker room and out of the match. As he leaves, Bubba Ray and D’Von are held back by WWF Officials.

JOSH MATTHEWS: The Dudley Boys need to focus on this match if they are going to start impressing William Regal. But it’ll be difficult after the actions of that ‘Million Dollar Maniac’ ...

MICHAEL COLE: The ‘Million Dollar Maniac,’ Josh? Is that what we’re calling him now?

JOSH MATTHEWS: Can you think of a better one?

SMACKDOWN MATCH
Dudley Boys vs. Million Dollar Man and IRS

The match starts with IRS and Bubba Ray Dudley in the ring and they clash in the centre of the ring. Bubba Ray points a finger at IRS and DiBiase and is clearly holding them just as responsible for the attack on Spike as Heidenreich. The two men start brawling and IRS gets the upper hand using his cunning to work Bubba Ray around the ring. He hits a right hand and forces Bubba Ray into the tag to D’Von Dudley. As D’Von enters the ring, IRS uses a drop toe hold that levels D’Von on the mat. He tags in DiBiase who taunts D’Von before dragging him up for a perfectly executed backbreaker followed by several stomps to the face. Bubba Ray tries to intervene but the referee stops him and D’Von is strangled with the tag rope whilst this is happening. DiBiase suplexes D’Von and it looks as if the ‘Million Dollar Team’ are in charge of the match. DiBiase goes for a cover. 1 ... 2 ... D’Von kicks out strongly. DiBiase makes the tag to IRS and then proceeds to taunt Bubba Ray again so that the Taxman can start to choke out D’Von again.

MICHAEL COLE: You might not like it but the Million Dollar Man and IRS are a well-oiled team here.

IRS begins to pummel at D’Von in the corner of the ring and D’Von is as far away from his ‘brother’ as he can be. He tries to fight out of the corner with some rights and left to IRS and DiBiase but the numbers are too much for him. As the referee tells off Irwin, DiBiase chokes out D’Von again in the corner before waffling him hard in the side of the skull. The crowd boo but the referee fails to see it again. IRS picks up D’Von and sets him up for a sleeper hold. However, D’Von fights back as IRS covers his mouth and punches Schyster in the face to break the move. As IRS edges over to make the tag to DiBiase, D’Von crawls towards his partner desperate for the tag. However, Ted DiBiase is there in time with a elbow drop to the back of D’Von’s neck. Bubba Ray stamps in frustration and distracts DiBiase who taunts him. However, this allows D’Von to roll up DiBiase for a surprise pin ... 1 ... 2 ... DiBiase escapes. This gives D’Von a chance and he stretches out ... and makes the tag to Bubba Ray! Bubba Ray crashes into DiBiase and whips him into the turnbuckle before smashing him with a big clothesline in the corner. IRS tries to interfere but Bubba Ray levels him with a right hand and the Dudleys are back in the game.

JOSH MATTHEWS: Can Bubba Ray keep this up until D’Von is recovered though?

The crowd are pumped up now as they cheer for the Dudleys and Bubba Ray hits stiff kicks into the midrift of Ted DiBiase. He scoops up DiBiase and hits the powerslam just as D’Von reaches the ring apron. The crowd go wild as Bubba Ray twists DiBiase round and D’Von begins to climb the ropes. Both Dudley Boys yell ‘Whhaaaassssssssuppppp?’ as Bubba Ray holds DiBiase for a diving headbutt from D’Von to his, ahem, groin area. Bubba Ray and D’Von soak up the cheers before the all too familiar sequence of events begins with a push from Bubba Ray to D’Von’s chest ...

BUBBA RAY DUDLEY: D’Vonnnnn ....

D’VON DUDLEY: What?

BUBBA RAY DUDLEY: GET THE TABLES!

D’Von slides out of the ring and pulls out a table from under the ring. Sliding it into the ring, Bubba Ray begins to set up the table with DiBiase still holding his groin and the crowd now electric. With the table set, D’Von and Bubba Ray position themselves for the ‘3D’ finisher and D’Von is about to whip DiBiase towards the ropes ... However, there is a sudden commotion on the titantron where screams and shouts can be heard. The crowd look up and see Heidenreich pummelling a helpless Spike Dudley in the locker room, smashing him into the lockers and powerbombing him to the concrete floor ...

Desperate to get back to Spike, the Dudley’s re-position themselves for the ‘3D’ and D’Von whips DiBiase to the ropes. However, in the distraction on the titantron, Virgil has now handed the Million Dollar Title to IRS who manages to get up on the apron and clock Bubba Ray firmly in the skull with it behind the referee’s back. With no Bubba Ray there, D’Von hoists up DiBiase but there is nobody there to complete the move and they fall to the mat. DiBiase hits a clothesline to D’Von and makes the tag to IRS. With the boos of the crowd ringing all around, IRS climbs the ropes before delivering a flying clothesline to the staggering D’Von Dudley. 1 ... 2 ... 3!

’Money!’ rings out in the arena as the Million Dollar Corporation hightail their way from the ring, DiBiase laughing out loud.

Here are your winners, IRS and the Million Dollar Man!

JOSH MATTHEWS:
What an awesome move from IRS and that’s the win.

MICHAEL COLE: The Million Dollar Corporation certainly look like they’re going to be a major player here on Smackdown. I’m hearing news that the medics are tending to Spike Dudley in the locker room, that was a despicable trick from the Corporation though.

JOSH MATTHEWS: An assist for the ‘Million Dollar Maniac’ and an assist for Virgil. The Million Dollar Corporation working together for the win.

MICHAEL COLE: But will the Dudleys make them pay down the line?

*** COMMERCIAL BREAK ***

Smackdown returns in the office of the new Smackdown General Manager, William Regal. He is sitting back watching the TV when WWF Divas Michelle McCool and Maria enter.

WILLIAM REGAL: Ahhh, to what do I owe this treat? Two stunning Smackdown divas in my office. Wanting to impress me, ladies?

MICHELLE McCOOL: Mr Regal, what’s happening with the WWF Womens Championship? On Monday, none of the divas or Randy Savage knew anything about it so it must be a Smackdown title right?

MARIA: The Smackdown divas are far better in every way than the Raw divas. Chip Butty must have decided it belongs on here.

WILLIAM REGAL: I’m afraid, dear ladies, that I’ve not heard nothing about it. Maybe you need to go and ask Chip Butty yourselves?

MICHELLE McCOOL: Oh, we will, Mr Regal. I’m sure that Maria and I can think of a way to persuade him that the title needs to come to Smackdown with me.

MARIA: With you, Michelle?

MICHELLE McCOOL: Well, with one of us then. Come on Maria, let’s go and find him.

The ladies are followed by the cameras as they walk down the corridor towards Chip Butty’s office. As they get there, the door is locked and the two Divas knock at the door.

MARIA: Mr Butty? Chip? It’s Maria and Michelle ...

MICHELLE McCOOL: Yeah, let us in Sir, we want to talk to you.

With no answer, the ladies knock again. And again. And then they turn to each other, pull a face and leave ... After a moment, the door opens a crack and Chip Butty peers out.

???: Have they gone, Chip?

CHIP BUTTY: Yeah, the coast is clear. Off you go.

The door opens further and Chip is seen standing with the WWF Womens Title belt. He holds the door open and out walks ... Lita.

CHIP BUTTY: I’ll talk to you later on about it, OK?

LITA: Make sure you do, I’ll be waiting!

The cameras return to the arena and to Michael Cole and Josh Matthews at ringside.

JOSH MATTHEWS: Well ... Our new owner seems to be making friends, Michael.

MICHAEL COLE: I wonder what all that was about! Expect the unexpected here on Friday Night Smackdown!

JOSH MATTHEWS: We’ve got a huge main event later tonight ...

SmackdownME1.jpg

JOSH MATTHEWS: ... as the big red monster, Kane, faces Y2J Chris Jericho after Jericho laid down the challenge earlier tonight.

MICHAEL COLE: Now, we’ve another match coming up now and two famous wrestling names – both will be desperate to make an impression tonight in a quest for the World Title gold.

This match is scheduled for one fall.

Introducing first, weighing in at 280 pounds from Miami, Florida, the ‘Bad Guy’ ... RAZOR RAMON!

From the back comes the tall, gangly figure of Razor Ramon. Dressed in bright wrestling attire, his black hair sleaked back with oil, gold chains wrapped around his neck and a slow, arrogant strut down the ramp towards the ring. The crowd cheer as a favourite returns to the ring.

MICHAEL COLE: A very controversial figure in wrestling but he comes back to the WWF with his original identity of the ‘Bad Guy’ from Miami, Razor Ramon.

JOSH MATTHEWS: People my age will point to his ladder match at WrestleMania 10 with Shawn Michaels as the one that got them hooked on this sport. A former Intercontinental champion who was later part of the WCW organisation, the NWO.

MICHAEL COLE: All impressive achievements, Josh, but his opponent is a legend with a staggering nine World Titles to his name. And he is part of the Smackdown roster here on Friday nights!

The crowd goes mad as Triple H returns to the World Wrestling Federation in a blaze of green lights. He saunters down to the ring before performing his familiar water spitting trick whilst bathed in a spotlight. As he enters the ring, he is introduced to the crowd.

His opponent, weighing in at 255 pounds, from Greenwich, Connecticut, he is ‘The Game’ ... TRIPLE H!

MICHAEL COLE: Even after all these years, I still love that entrance. Vintage Triple H!

JOSH MATTHEWS: Is it me, Cole, or is there something not quite right about The Game tonight? He looks a bit ... well, annoyed.

Triple H holds a hand up to Razor Ramon and the referee and walks to the ropes to request a microphone. With Razor Ramon looking on, Hunter turns to face the crowd and the cameras.

MICHAEL COLE: Well, if there is, we’re probably about to find out.

TRIPLE H: The World Wrestling Federation. Triple H. The Game ...

The crowd pops at the mention of his moniker and start to chant their heroes name. ‘Triple H! Triple H!’ ...

TRIPLE H: Friday Night Smackdown. The World Heavyweight Championship ... I hear you all chanting my name waiting for me to show Razor Ramon that I am the ‘Cerebral Assassin.’ Waiting for me to show the ‘Bad Guy’ that however good he is or was, he will never be ... the ‘King of Kings.’

Razor Ramon raises an eyebrow and takes small steps towards Triple H but the referee holds him back.

TRIPLE H: Chanting my name like the hero that I am. Well let me tell you something, WWF Universe ...

Another pop from the crowd at the recognition from Triple H and another chant of ‘Triple H!’

TRIPLE H: ... I couldn’t give a damn about the WWF Universe however much you chant my name.

A second of shock as the Game’s comments register with the crowd followed by a few boos.

TRIPLE H: For the past two years, I have pandered to you, encouraged your cheers, bowed to you in respect ... and what has it got me? Nothing. One measly title reign for two months. Two months as a champion and a relegation to the World Wrestling Federation ‘B’ show ...

The boos begin to get louder as Triple H insults the Smackdown show.

TRIPLE H: ... And to cap it all off, I’ve got to try and impress William Regal? I am the most dominant man on this show by a country mile and I should be the World Champion by default. Two years of pandering to the whims of idiots like you morons here in New Jersey. Two years of teaming up with the likes of Shawn Michaels and John Cena ... and I get a match against Razor Ramon, chico, to prove that I should be the World Champion to William Regal?

A loud ‘You Suck!’ chant begins in the crowd as the referee has to hold Razor back again.

TRIPLE H: How on earth am I going to impress William Regal against a washed up ‘has-been’ like you, Razor Ramon? When I beat you, nobody will say that they are impressed. They’ll just raise their eyes and ask why I was even giving you the honour of wrestling me ...

Razor Ramon breaks free of the referee and throws his toothpick at Triple H who looks enraged and swings the microphone at Ramon knocking him flat on his back.

TRIPLE H: I am going to be the 14 time World Champion. But I’m not going to be doing it for you morons ... I’m going to be doing it for me.

The crowd boo as Triple H tosses the microphone aside and gets ready to face the wounded Razor Ramon as Smackdown heads into a break.

*** COMMERCIAL BREAK ***

Smackdown returns with Triple H and Razor Ramon in the ring. A video replay is shown of Triple H’s microphone shot to the head of his challenger before the referee rings the bell to start the match.

MICHAEL COLE: Interesting comments from Triple H before the break there, will we see the old, mean side of the Game? And will it be enough to impress the General Manager, William Regal?

The referee signals for the bell and the match is underway.

SMACKDOWN MATCH
Triple H vs. Razor Ramon

Triple H looks fired up and determined as he locks up with Razor Ramon aggressively to start the match. The Game winds up a headlock to the tall Ramon and grinds it before Ramon shoots Triple H off into the ropes. A shoulder block from the Game sends Razor sprawling to the ground and Triple H is on top of him in a shot. Smashing closed fist after closed fist into the face of Ramon, Triple H has to be restrained by the referee with a 4 count which he breaks just in time to avoid a disqualification. Triple H gestures to the crowd and shouts ‘He’s not in my league!’ as he winds up for another attack. As Ramon gets gingerly to his feet, Triple H hits a chop-block to take the Bad Guy down again. He helps Ramon up and shoots him off the ropes before taking him down with a high knee and it seems that Triple H’s claims to the crowd are correct.

MICHAEL COLE: It’s certainly a new ‘couldn’t care less’ attitude tonight from The Game. Nothing is going to stop him from winning the World Title again if he can help it.

JOSH MATTHEWS: But there are thousands of Triple H fans in this arena, Michael, and for him to suddenly declare that they’ve held him back for the last two years ...

MICHAEL COLE: He has a point though, Josh. Look at how many titles he won before he became a fan favourite and compare that to the two months he has had recently. Triple H knows ... like most people do ... that he needs to ignore the fans and get back to what took him to the top in the first place! Winning popularity contests is not going to get him the World Title and he knows it.

Triple H comes off the rope and drops a deliberate knee to the face of his opponent. He repeats this a second time before hooking the leg. 1 ... 2 ... Kick out from Ramon to cheers from the crowd. A ‘Razor! Razor!’ chant begins and Triple H laughs in the ring before dragging Razor up to his feet and locking him into an abdominal stretch. With the referee checking on Razor, Triple H confirms his ‘heel’ status by grabbing the rope for extra leverage. Razor squirms more and the referee checks Triple H’s hand but he removes it quick. This continues until the referee spots HHH’s hand and breaks the hold with Razor doubled up on the mat. Razor is dragged up again and whipped into the turnbuckle hard. Triple H again goes for the pinfall. 1 ... 2 ... Razor kicks out again.

MICHAEL COLE: Triple H is in control here, will he be able to get the win when we return?

*** COMMERCIAL BREAK ***

Smackdown returns with a vignette running for a returning Smackdown superstar ...

... before returning to the ring where Triple H remains in control of the match.

JOSH MATTHEWS: Welcome back to Friday Night Smackdown where Triple H is still in control of the match. Razor Ramon got a few shots in a moment ago ...

A video replay plays showing Razor Ramon countering into a back body drop followed by several punches that sent Triple H out of the ring allowing Razor Ramon to fire himself up.

JOSH MATTHEWS: ... but Triple H quickly regained control with a thumb to the eye behind the referee’s back.

MICHAEL COLE: Vintage Triple H ...

Triple H whips Razor Ramon into the corner again and mounts the second rope to start hammering down on Ramon. The crowd jeer as Triple H stares out at them before dropping an elbow down onto a struggling Ramon. A clothesline sends Ramon down again and Triple H begins to set up for a Figure 4 Leglock. The crowd begin to ‘Woooooo!’ as Hunter locks the move in on the former Intercontinental Champion before he falls back and Ramon begins to squirm in pain. The referee immediately drops to his knees beside Ramon looking for the tap. Razor hangs on and refuses to tap out trying to twist over but Triple H is too strong. However, Razor Ramon uses all his height to stretch backwards ... Triple H tries to pull him back as much as he can ...

MICHAEL COLE: Can Razor Ramon makes the ropes? He stretches ... and he’s got them!

Ramon’s fingertips manage to grab the rope and the referee orders Triple H to break the hold. He refuses for a moment to get a few more seconds of pain flowing through the leg of Ramon before letting go. Frustrated, Triple H pushes the referee in the chest and demands that he declare him the winner by submission but the referee refuses and walks away. Triple H decides to go after Ramon again and kicks him in the gut as he gets up to set up a Pedigree. The crowd begin to rise to their feet urging Ramon to escape. As Triple H begins to hook the arms, Ramon suddenly raises his head and back body drops Triple H over the ropes to the outside and the crowd cheer. Triple H looks annoyed on the outside as he recovers but Ramon slides out of the ring towards him looking to take advantage. Out of nowhere, Triple H produces a Sledgehammer and smashes Ramon in the stomach causing the referee to signal for the bell and a disqualification.

MICHAEL COLE: I can’t believe what I’ve just seen, Triple H has been disqualified.

JOSH MATTHEWS: This is a side of Triple H we’ve not seen for a long time. Will it be enough to impress William Regal though?

The winner of this match as a result of a disqualification ... RAZOR RAMON!

Triple H turns and stares at the referee and the ring announcer with a smile on his face. He turns back to Ramon with the Sledgehammer still in hand and advances on him. With Razor laid down, Triple H drives the hammer down into his stomach three more times before flinging the hammer down in anger. He drags Ramon back into the ring and hits the Pedigree before leaving the ring to the sound of ‘The Game’ music.

JOSH MATTHEWS: Razor Ramon is going to need some treatment here, a horrible attack from Triple H.

MICHAEL COLE: He’s serious about his new focus though, Josh, he did warn us all. The Cerebral Assassin is not here no more to make the fans cheer for him, he’s here to win the World Title.

JOSH MATTHEWS: Well that’s going to depend on how impressed William Regal is by his actions tonight.

An advert for Summerslam airs with the PPV music theme – ‘Breakout’ by the Foo Fighters – playing in the background.

Smackdown returns with footage of Razor Ramon being stretchered out of the arena backstage and William Regal at the ambulance showing concern.

WILLIAM REGAL: Is he OK? Doctor?

DOCTOR Please move aside, Mr Regal, we need to get him into the ambulance. Please move.

RAZOR RAMON: Regal ... Regal!

WILLIAM REGAL: What’s up?

RAZOR RAMON: Next week. I want Triple H ... next week. No disqualification.

The crowd cheer at the prospect of seeing Razor Ramon get his revenge next week. The camera returns to the ring and Lilian Garcia in the ring with a microphone.

This match is set for one fall and is tonight’s Smackdown Main Event.

MICHAEL COLE: This match was made earlier when Kane was interrupted by Chris Jericho as he made a case for why William Regal should make him the World Champion.

JOSH MATTHEWS: Jericho came out here looking very different though as we saw his Y2J persona return.

Introducing first, weighing in at 323 pounds ... KANE!

The Big Red Monster walks out with his mask on and his red and black outfit as he makes his way towards the ring. As he stands in the centre of the ring, Kane raises his arms and signals for an explosion of red flame in all four corners of the ring before turning to await his challenger.

JOSH MATTHEWS: Kane was never beaten for the World Title in the WWE but has not been handed the belt here in the reformed World Wrestling Federation. He believes it should be around his waist again.

MICHAEL COLE: To be fair, Kane has a point. However, he will need to impress William Regal and force him to hand him a chance instead.

JOSH MATTHEWS: However, there are several other men who believe they have a claim to the title as well ...

JOSH MATTHEWS: ... including this man.

His opponent, from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, weighing in at 226 pounds ... CHRIS JERICHO!

Chris Jericho appears in the entrance with his back to the crowd and his arms stretched out. The crowd roar in approval at his returning Y2J style and he cockily struts towards the ring.

SMACKDOWN MAIN EVENT
Kane vs. Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho starts the match quickly with several knife edge chops to Kane’s chest but the Big Red Monster quickly recovers with a stiff uppercut that knocks Jericho away. Jericho ducks under an attempted clothesline from Kane and hits the ropes to hit a flying forearm smash to Kane as the match starts at a quick tempo. With Kane reeling a little, Jericho hits the ropes again and takes the monster off his feet with a flying bulldog to the cheers of the crowd. Jericho looks out to the crowd as they cheer with a cocky smirk on his face. However, as he wanders back to Kane, he is caught with a big boot from Kane and hits the canvas as Kane shakes off his early grogginess. He grips Jericho by the throat with early intentions of a chokeslam but Jericho manages to battle out before hitting a dropkick which sends Kane staggering into the ropes. Jericho climbs quickly to the middle buckle and hits another missile dropkick that sends Kane out of the ring. As Kane climbs back up to the ring apron, Jericho springboards off the rope and delivers a third dropkick to again send Kane down to the floor on the outside and a chant of ‘Y2J! Y2J!’ begins.

MICHAEL COLE: Jericho has taken Kane out of the ring here early on. Can he get the win that would be the most impressive of the night?

*** COMMERCIAL BREAK ***

Smackdown returns with Chris Jericho and Kane back in the ring and Kane holding a steel chair. The referee snatches it away to the annoyance of Kane.

MICHAEL COLE: Welcome back to Friday Night Smackdown, Kane has just brought a chair into the ring. I think he’s getting frustrated by Jericho.

JOSH MATTHEWS: I don’t think he wanted to sit down, Cole, but steel chairs are not allowed in the WWF! Unless it’s a No DQ match ...

MICHAEL COLE: And speaking of No Disqualification matches, we’ve just had it confirmed that there will be one next week on Smackdown.

JOSH MATTHEWS: Yes, William Regal has accepted Razor Ramon’s request and next week it will be Razor Ramon and Triple H in a No DQ match!

RazorTripleH.jpg

With Kane staring at the referee, Jericho looks to hit a quick, surprising Codebreaker on his opponent but Kane sees it coming and swats Jericho away onto his back with a crash. Kane pulls Jericho up by his blonde hair and forces him back into the corner, getting in his face and talking aggressively to him. Kane whips Jericho across the ring to the opposite corner and follows up with a clothesline in the corner. With Jericho dropping down to a seated position, Kane hits a running drop kick which leaves the crowd gasping. With Jericho struggling, Kane pulls him into the centre of the ring and covers him. 1 ... 2 ... Kick out from Y2J! Jericho gets to his feet steadily but Kane picks him up with a two handed choke lift that causes Jericho to struggle his legs in mid-air. Kane drops Jericho down and hits another uppercut choke thrust that dumps Jericho down as the Big Red Monster takes control.

JOSH MATTHEWS: Has Jericho bitten off more than he can chew here, Cole? Kane is looking impressive.

MICHAEL COLE: He may well have done, Josh, Kane is looking dominant!

Kane raises Jericho to his feet and looks to deliver a powerslam to his smaller opponent. However, Jericho begins to fight back and throws some right hands to protect himself. The crowd rallies behind him as he runs at Kane but Kane scoops him into a Sidewalk Slam and Jericho is planted onto the mat again. 1 ... 2 ... Jericho escapes ... just! Kane stands and signals for a chokeslam again and holds his arm out ready. As Jericho staggers up, Kane locks his grip around Jericho’s throat and lifts him high before crashing him down onto the mat. However, Jericho manages to roll outside to the frustration of Kane.

MICHAEL COLE: Title instinct from Jericho. Shocking pain but still has the sense to roll out of the ring.

JOSH MATTHEWS: Outside the ring with Kane might not be the best place to be though, Cole, here comes Kane!

With Kane stalking him outside, Jericho tries to wriggle clear but Kane catches up to him and forces him back into the barricades. With the referee beginning a count, Kane plants a kick into the stomach of Jericho before rolling back into the ring. The referee’s count reaches 7 as Jericho begins to edge to safety and Kane – knowing that Jericho will get back in time – rolls outside to push him in. Climbing to the top rope, Kane attempts a diving clothesline from the top rope but misses as Jericho moves away in time. Jericho hits another bulldog to plant Kane on the canvas and then goes for his patented Lionsault which connects with Kane. Struggling, Jericho manages to cover Kane ... 1 ... 2 ... Kane kicks out! Jericho raises up to cheers from the crowd and climbs to the middle rope to hit a flying reverse forearm to Kane and send him down to the mat again. Jericho looks to place Kane in the Walls of Jericho but the Big Red Monster is too strong and shakes him off with ease.

Kane looks for a second chokeslam as Jericho gets back to his feet and has his hand gripped around Jericho’s throat again. He goes to lift Jericho but Jericho fights back and refuses to be lifted. Kane goes for it again and fails as Jericho breaks free. However, another uppercut from Kane wobbles Jericho and allows him a third chance. With Kane looking close to victory, he grips Jericho’s throat again and lifts him high ... but Jericho counters into a Codebreaker that snaps Kane’s head back as he falls to the mat. Jericho covers ... 1 ... 2 ...3!

Here is your winner ... CHRIS JERICHO!

Jericho’s music blasts out as he escapes out of the ring leaving a furious Kane sat in the ring shocked at the manner of the defeat. Jericho raises his arms in triumph on the ramp as William Regal walks out from the back and nods his head in approval.

MICHAEL COLE: William Regal looks impressed with Jericho’s efforts this evening. They’ve never gotten on before but could Jericho be a contender now for the vacant World Title that Regal has to hand out?

JOSH MATTHEWS: He could well be, Cole, but I think that Kane might have something to say about it in the future as well.

MICHAEL COLE: Impressive victory for Jericho but Kane will not let this lie either. Tune in next week for Smackdown as we find out if either of these men - or the other superstars looking to impress Regal – can force their way into the title picture for Summerslam. Goodnight!

The second edition of RAW is coming very soon. The first RAW and SMACKDOWN events have been edited. I've decided to take the deceased wrestlers out - so that meant the likes of Bam Bam Bigelow, Mr Perfect and British Bulldog had to be replaced. You might want to re-read to check.
