Test and Albert

Okay so I just thought about this so I wanted to bring this up. How come Test and Albert arent mentioned along with the hardys, e&c the dudleys and apa. I remember these guys having a solid program with the dudleys and hardys. These guys were a powerhouse team, Test was decent in the ring and Albert was pretty solid for his size. They even had Trish as manager for sometime.

What were your thoughts on Test and Albert I believe their team name was T&A? Which is quite coincidental.

They don't get mentioned in the same breath as they weren't really innovative at the time... E & C, The Hardyz and Dudz all did new and unique things in the division whereas T & A were more there to make up the numbers in the division.

The team itself was fine and worked well, Trish got her start there which was also a good thing but like Billy and Chuck they had a definitive shelf life... they were meant to launch singles stars not be tag legends.

They aren't mentioned because they didn't really do anything of note. The aforementioned teams all held the titles numerous times and won the title in big time matches.

The other teams helped keep the tag title relevant as well.. T&A, not so much. They were OKay, but nothing special at all.

Trish got the biggest push out of the three.

That tells you why they are usually forgotten as a tag team.

There was nothing unique about the team. The other three teams had their own unique gimmicks. E&C were the funny ones, The Hardyz were the extreme ones while The Dudleyz were coming from ECW and had a solid reputation as a tag team. Heck even APA was a bit popular during that period because of their gimmick.

T&A were just a generic tag team with the best thing about them being their clever name. They were decent but at the end of the day their solidity got outshone by how spectacular the other three teams were.

Why arent X-Factor mentioned alongside these teams?

Why arent Big Boss Man and Bull Buchanan mentioned alongside these teams?

Why arent Lo-Down mentioned alongside these teams?

The reason is that T&A never really meant anything. Test and Albert never really accomplished anything as a tag-team and were not part of the innovative tag team matches that the WWE was putting on at that time. I wouldn't even class the APA or Too Cool on the same level as E&C, The Dudleyz and The Hardyz. Those 3 were in a league of their own as far as exciting matches and creative ways of making the tag team division something special. If T&A had been involved in the triangle ladder matches, or TLC matches or were even slightly good on the mic they would be more fondly remembered as a team.

I did enjoy both Albert and Test as singles wrestlers, Test especially, and they were fairly entertaining as a Tag Team, but so were Kaientai and Lo-Down and they will never be remembered as a great tag team. The sad thing is, if Trish Stratus and her T&A was not linked with the Test and Albert tag team, then they probably not be remembered at all. I couldn't tell you one really good match they had, they were just an average short-lived team with a ridiculously hot valet.

Trish was the star of the team, not Test or Albert...even though the WWE tried on multiple occasions to make Test a big name. Oh, and the name wasnt coincidental, it was a deliberate innuendo referring to Tits and Ass..something that Trish was good at displaying :P
I miss Trish :(

They didn't even win the tag titles did they? Am i right in saying that? The two of them never even won the gold? Hell, even Renee Dupree and Kenzo Suzuki won the tag titles, and do people remember them?..... ya know, apart from me?

Why does nobody think of T&A? BEcause no one gave a damn about Test or Albert is why. Test's best run was when he was 'dating' Stephanie. After that, he never became a prevalent figure again. They tried, tried, tried so hard to make him seem relevant i.e. by making him the 'immune superstar' at the end of the Invasion, pairing him with Stacy etc but it just never worked. For me it stemmed from him getting more and more boring as time went on. He used to have a pretty good move set for one. Gut wrench powerbomb, pump handle slam and the diving elbow, but suddenly all 3 or those good moves got traded in for a running big boot. Now, credit where credit was due, when he hit that big boot it was fuckin' sick, but no one is going to get over with a big boot as a finisher.

Everytime Test got paired with a valet, the crowd were far, far, far more interested in the valet than they were in him. People would have cheered an effigy of Hitler if Stacy Kiebler had bent over in front of it or Trish Stratus had been hanging off it's shoulder for christ sake.

As for Albert, the crowd were never willing to give him the time of day, no matter what, and i personally never understood why. Ok he was never going to wow you on the mic, but his ring work was always solid, he was an agile big man who could have decent matches with the ME'ers who actually bothered to give him the time of day, Show, Taker, Kane etc. but the crowd refused to give him an inch, EVER! And then he started wrestling with no shirt on, and all he ever got was 'Shave Your Back!' chants and nothing else.

Old 8 and 3/8's had plenty of skill and talent, but audiences around the world simply didn't care.

So that's why T&A never got anywhere. Because no one cared about those guys apart, so why would anyone care when they're put together, more or less exactly the same as they were, and never actually achieving anything?

Remeber how having Trish as a valet did NOTHING for Val Venis? Same thing applies. No one cared about Val Venis, and they sure as hell aren't going to care about him because Trish is standing next to him, they'll only care about Trish.

Why do Billy and Chuck stand out but T&A don't? Original gimmick and instant heat magnets, plus Rico a manager who could work the stick instead of just work his assets.

T&A as a team had NONE of that. It also didn't help that their first PPV match at WM16, resulted in audiences paying attention to the midget in the cheese outfit trying to harass Trish, instead of the actual match in the ring.

And then after that, the centre of attention became Lita v Trish, so two super hot women fighting with the possibilities of wardrobe malfunctions, became more interesting than the tag teams they represented.

T&A were fucked by getting Trish as a valet, and certainly not in the way they woud have wanted.

Yeah what the fuck happened to the elbow drop? It was a great move as was his powerbomb. I always used to use that move on the Smackdown! games. He also had the Test Drive too as a finishing moves, similar to the Last Rites Christopher Daniels uses, plus the big boot and the full nelson slam.

Thinking about it Test had better moves than most other wrestlers, but noone ever really cared about him. Why is this??

No matter how hard the WWE tried to push him- The immunity after the Invasion, his mid-card title reigns, the T&A tag team, as the boyfriend of Stephanie, he always showed so little charisma. Did he even cut one good promo, I mean I cannot even remember the guys voice, let alone a promo of his. Did he have a catchphrase or anything? All I can remember is his fans being called Testicles, which to be fair is funny, but was never really a big thing.

Then when he eventually returned to ECW he was obviously pumping stupid amount of steroids into his body, he was ripped beyond belief which led to the "You Take Steroids!" chant from the fans. Even then he never really got over and didnt even win the ECW title.

I always thought Test was pretty decent as an actual wrestler, but as a character he was as bland as stale bread.

Albert was forgettable. Test wasn't taken seriously by fans (for some reason). T&A was a coincidence and made sense for something to do with the too. I thought Test had great potential and liked him as much as I liked Triple H back then, it just seemed like he was always the lackey. Always at Vince's or Shane's right hand but never went far. Quite the shame. May it was his mic work that lacked. I'm not sure because I was young and didn't look for things like that.

In Test's case I think it was more that he was always Nash Lite... the look, the attitude was all based off of what Kevin Nash did and it wasn't as good, hence why he never really got a massive push...

Albert was criminally underused but again, it was look... the "shave your back" chants are the only thing I remember about most of his run... by the time he became "A-Train" it kinda was too late...

They were a disposable team, put together mainly to get Trish over quickly... Harsh but true...
