Takeover London

The workrate on those TV matches, that's a stunning commendation for everyone involved.

Surprising results in the title matches aside, that was a fascinating show. The crowd was outstanding. Full Sail can't touch this on their best night.

Thanks. I needed a fact check. I didn't know one way or the other, but my gut did. Weird they didn't mention that or if they did I missed it.

Sami Zayn actually didn't appear until after the main event. He then wrestled a ten minute match and cut a promo, so I left satisfied, but you might be able to pick me out in the crowd during the Finn/Joe match - I'm the one who looks absolutely heartbroken.

Did how fucking ludicrously over Enzo and Cass we're translate? Because I don't understand what happened there. Same guy, same heartbroken face.

Thank God Bayley won, otherwise there would have been tears.

While there were good matches, I thought that this was overall a pretty bad show, and going by NXT standards, that's shocking. Questionable booking, putting both Jax vs Bayley and Joe vs Balor on the card when the plan was for those two matches to tell the same basic, unoriginal and done to death story of the underdog having all the odds stacked against them and overcoming them, Jordan and Gable not being on the card despite being without a doubt the hottest thing going in the tag division let alone the entire men's division, and them not throwing in a Sami Zayn match when they easily could have.

Disgruntled.

Enzo and Cass were more over than Jordan and Gable. Marginally.

Jordan, Gable and Zayn will be on the TVs (aka "Nah-nah, I got to see them.")

I disapproved greatly of any chant with "Awesome" in it.

In shock that the "Let's go Asuka" chant didn't spawn "Ask her what?"

I just checked the vicinity of the yellow jacket.

Crowd reactions and chants came across great. You guys were a fun audience. Crescendo'd when the action did and buzzed attentively during rest holds and slow spots. The heartbreak for Cass and Enzo was palpable and universal.

Yes... otherwise...

Got somethin' in my eye.

Really enjoyed the show, fantastic job by everyone in every match that despite some obvious winners (Asuka, Bayley to be specific) their matches had me believing it really could have gone either way.

To be honest despite the feel good moment not happening I'm not saddened at all by Enzo and Cass not winning the belts. I wasn't sold on Dash and Dawson till I saw this match, good for them, it'll be great once Jordan and Gable take the belts off them.

Wasn't feeling Corbin/Crews for the most part, though this may be Corbin's time to shine depending on the pecking order for a title shot.

All in all it was great but the crowd is a pretty good example of how sometimes chanting can take away and or distract from a match, the tag team match especially in the beginning.

Lackluster show overall compared to the other Takeovers, despite what I would consider an A- for the womens title match, and a solid A for the NXT Title match.

Finn finally had his "great" match. Physical and riveting.

Bailey Vs Nia was thrilling, just phenomenal. David Vs Goliath hasn't been told that well since....Y'know...

Everything else was forgettable. Corbin - Crews never really felt like it clicked, the tag match was OK, and I thought Asuka - Emma was booked really strangely. Why have someone whose whole appeal is Offense getting worked over for the majoirty of the match? I am fine with Emma getting offense in if it gotten via resourceful cheating, but none of it really was.

London was great, much better than your average Full Sail rabble. There were times when it became more about them than the show, but it wasnt often or overwelming.

I'd agree that London was a bit underwhelming compared to previous Takeovers. I thought Emma vs. Asuka and Finn vs. Joe were both very good.

Bayley vs. Nia had the potential to be good, but having the "underdog" champion kick out of multiple signature and special moves from the monster heel was a bit much for my taste. I get that the point was to make Bayley overcoming the odds that much more spectacular, I just felt that everything they built Nia as the last few weeks was chipped away at some by devaluing her finisher so much. The ending to the match was great though.

I thought the crowd really took away from the tag title and women's title matches. That sing song bullshit was way, way overdone. Do it once, whatever, pop some people who are into it, then move on. It got to the point that the commentary was overshadowed by the singing, which I didn't like at all.

Samoa Joe is so much better as a heel, he put on his best performance since coming to NXT in this one.

We sing, it's what we do. We don't do four syllable chants over and over, we sing songs. It's the same thing, only less monotonous. It's what we've done for every football game, every indie wrestling show, many rugby matches, some cricket matches and probably even a few chess matches for decades.

There were a few cunty chants, like the "10" ones, but the songs weren't among them.

Yea, like I said in the other thread I liked the singing because it gave the show a particular Englad flavor. Just like the Japanese crowd was its own thing, the Brooklyn crowd was its own thing, and Full Sail is too. The singing is a particularly European deal, so I liked it.

It also was an awesome moment after Bailey won and was barely able to pull herself up and the crowd is serenading her with the "be my girl" song. Awesome shit.
