Take Your Pick

Barbedwire Ropes

YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!
If you could pick any lower/lower-mid carder to suddenly make a jump into the main event scene overnight and win a world championship (pretty much like JBL did back in 2004/5), who would it be and why?

Everyone is always complaining about the lack of new main event talent and the WWE seemingly has an endless amount of "future star" power at thier disposal, so who would you give that huge push to?

It was actually 04 when JBL became a main eventer.

I'd give it to Christan he's the current ECW champ but that tile is no more better then the Ic or U.S. belts. I'd move him to Smackdown and have him feud with Edge over the World Heavyweight Championship with Edge cheating to win or getting dqed or counted out each time they faced until Summerslam and Teddy Long would make the match stipulation of if Edge gets himself counted out or dqed he'd forfeit the belt to Christan and i would make the match the main event of the card and make it a good back and forth 30 min long match with Christan fianally defeating Edge and becoming World Champ.

Even though I think John Morrison is already in the midst of a big push (and rightfully so), I think he would be the best fit. He has skills both in the ring, and on the mic. i could see Morrison go on a streak, beating Benjamin, Jericho, Mysterio, maybe Taker and Edge by Xmas!! He will be a huge star to come. If not him, then I would like to see Christian also.

Matt Hardy

In my mind, Matt deserves a push, and way more than his brother, for a few reasons. One, Matt is way more loyal to the company. Jeff had major drug problems and no-showed events, and other irresponsible stuff. Apparently Jeff no-showed a house show or two this year, and Matt never does anything like that.

Also, in my mind, Matt is the better wrestler, even though Jeff is more entertaining to watch. Matt is a good technical wrestler. Both Matt and Jeff have been waiting years for main event status, and I think they both deserve it, but Matt more than Jeff.

Matt Hardy is, was, and always will be a mid-card wrestler. He only got over in singles action when Edge took his woman. If Matt Hardy was so awesome, that would not have happened. Who can blame Edge? Lita was smoking hot and he instantly got shot into main event status as a top heel. Stealing Matt's girlfriend was the best thing Edge has done for his career. As far as the topic goes, Stevie Richards. TNA loves giving ex-WWE talent a bunch of air time and belts, so why should he be deprived? I mean, they had let go of Pete Williams and Lance Hoyt/Rock to pay for that salary I'm sure.

Matt Hardy is definitely garbage. His mic work is horrendous and his ring work is not much better. His look and move set also suck. Matt should just call Vince and ask for a spot on creative. He would do far better at that then at anything in the ring.

Swagger is the guy that you can give the instant push to right now. He has yet to make any impact in the big leagues(Raw/Smackdown), but has the talent to work with just about anyone. Morrison will make it on his own when the time is right. Keep in mind he is just starting the babyface run. JBL's gimmick came out of nowhere and was brilliant in my opinion. It would not have worked if he hadn't been thrust into the title picture. People would have dismissed him before they saw what he was capable of. Swagger (or whoever) would have to make that kind of impact and probably need a repackage of some sort

Swagger is certainly one who is in line for a major push. I couldn't see it for a while (possibly due to the fact I never really watch ECW anymore), but now I certainly can. He's got it.

Matt Hardy's a tricky one. I think turning him heel was definately a good move. Two brothers as faces just won't work, because one will always be more popular than the other. So eliminate that factor, turn the lesser popular one heel. Matt still needs some time, but I think it'd be worth testing the waters main event wise in a few months.

Christian is definately another. I think they're once again, testing the waters with Christian as far as to putting the ECW strap on him. If it's working, he'll be shipping over to SmackDown quicker than you can say "SmackDown". If it wern't for the fact Edge was on SmackDown, i'd say send him to Raw because Raw sure as hell needs some good youth.

The next is definately MVP. He's now ready to make the step up and has recently been flirting with the main event. I really feel it's his time to shine. I was dead against his losing streak (initially), but what a difference that storyline has made to his career. I really feel it's kick-started his face run very well. I saw someone mention on here the other day that he was "trying too hard to be a face". I agree with this to some extent, yet at the same time unfortunately WWE's "Universe" AKA kids really need to be spoon fed when someone's turned heel/face, and unfortunately this is often through over-dramatic actions such as "milking it". I just hope MVP doesn't milk it too hard and become a baby-faced uber face alá John Cena. We need a bit of attitude, and someone who can almost get away with still being a heel, yet be cheered (anti-hero). I honestly think more than ever, the crowd want this. We have enough spoon-feeders, it won't hurt to try it with someone, and MVP's a great candidate.

Swagger's mic work is worse than Hardy's. He has a lispe that many people find annoying.. It makes him look like an idiot.

Evan Bourne. When he left ROH for the WWE, I thought there was no chance for him to be successful because he doesn't possess the size and stature that the WWE likes to see in their talent. To their credit, the WWE has given him the opportunity to succeed. They haven't watered down his moveset as much as I thought they would, they have given him air time on RAW and SD, and they have given him somewhat of a push to mid card status.

Evan Bourne is simply a fantastic performer. He gets huge pops every time he makes his way down to the ring. He is quick, explosive and exciting as hell to watch. He does things that no one else on the WWE roster can do. He executes moves with grace and precision. Bourne has what it takes to be successful as a main event guy.

They should bring back RVD full time and propel him right into the main event title scene, where he left off. Last I heard his wife had cancer or something so I understand why he doesn't wrestle full time anymore, but if he is trying to get back, WWE should put the strap around him.

I'd say Christian. Out of all the potential main-eventers, Christian is clearly the head of the pack. He knows what it's like to lead a company thanks to TNA, he has some of the best mic work in the WWE, and is more than solid in the ring. Once he's done his time on ECW, I expect big things to come for him on Raw/Smackdown.

Dolph Ziggler
Let me explain, it sounds ridiculous I know, but this man is a very good wrestler, he has a good heel movest, good in ring psychology and can draw heat. I also like his gimmick as the narcassist. Smackdown at the moment is without major stars and a few are going to have to be pushed, so instead of the same old Mysterio push, why not try something different, Smackdown could do with another heel floating about the top and this man has the look, the ability and is good on the stick to get himself over.

Jeffs way better than matt. Matt's a little boring but i do agree with the responsibility thing. Im saying this to colalella.

I'm not going to go into details but i think John Morrsion, Christian, Mvp, Swagger, Matt, Evan, and Shelton Benjamin could all do it.

One person that I have enjoyed seeing as of late in the WWE is Carlito. I used to be a huge fan of his, and throughout his career in the WWE. Carlito has been plagued by the rumour that he is lazy and quite negative backstage, but that has all seemed to disappear. He has been putting together good matches as of late and has been given a great opportunity.

As the Unified Tag Team Champions with his brother Eddie Colon, he has proven himself in the ring, and under the pressure of holding an entire division on his back. Now whenever Carlito and Eddie lose the belts, it seems to me that it is obvious that Carlito will be given the opportunity to climb the ladder of the WWE.

He has had main event matches before, such as the Elimination chamber many years ago, and he did not seem all that out of place. Maybe he could have a decent shot of making it into the main event and facing off against someone like CM punk if Punk makes it back into the main event (Obviously Carlito will have to switch brands to Smackdown! once again, and I do not see that happening until next years draft.)
