Tag Team Reunions

Wrestling Mind 300

Dark Match Winner
We've recently seen the Prime time players reunite after breaking up due to Titus o Neil turing heel and attacking Darren Young before Elimination chamber last year because he no longer wanted to carry the dead weight of Darren Young and wanted to win on his own and it got me thinking, why are they back together? I hear them saying that this time they are going for gold and I do think they are entertaining but how is Darren Young comfortable teaming with the guy who turned on him? Where is the logic in that?

Luke Harper and Eric Rowen broke up however I still see them getting back together because the break up happened with no explanation and neither beat each other down or took shots at one another(unless I'm missing something). I also hear people talking about A Shield reunion but again, after what Seth Rollins did to both Ambrose and Reigns, how the hell are they supposed to trust him again?

Other examples include Evolution reuniting last year to feud with the Shield, Kane and Undertaker, The Bella Twins, and more.

What are your thoughts on Tag Team Reunions?

As far as PTP is concerned I am glad they are back they bring something different and entertaining to the tag team division.

Luke Harper and Eric Rowan did have a mini feud that led to them both being involved in the Authority vs John Cena survivor series match. But that isn't to say down the road they couldn't reunite, but that would be better for Rowan who can't seem to make an impact in the singles division like Harper has.

Overall tag team reunions depend on the team that is reuniting. If there is no need to bring back a team then don't do it. Nostalgia can only help so much. Meaningful reunions like evolution coming back to feud with the shield are great, but having the bella twins reunite out of the blue was terrible. So all in all it is all about execution and what creative has planned for them

Tag team reunions have always been exciting. They get more exciting as more time has gone on, especially when the two guys have been on opposite sides.

Edge and Christian having one more run was such a missed opportunity before Edge's untimely retirement. I remember marking out when D-Von dropped the reverend gimmick and rejoined Bubba on Raw in the noughties. When Marty Jannetty rejoined Shawn Michaels on Raw in the noughties, no one cared, mostly because jannetty hadn't done anything of significance.

The PTP reunion is exciting because both men floundered upon seperation. They fueded then both dissappeared from TV, Young due to injury. Slater Gator was fun but it pales in comparison to what PTP is capable of.

I wish they would hurry up and put Rowan and Harper back together. You can here a pin drop when Rowan comes out and Harper feuding with Ambrose in a gray beater and jeans on a pole match isn't that exciting to me. Harper and Rowan could make a splash in the tag division and get Rowan over there as a heel before separating again a few years later.

Tag reunions require that there be a demand and/or a purpose in the two men reuniting. a Rybaxel reunion would be crap, whereas The Shield reuniting eventually will be explosive.

There aren't a lot broken up teams on the roster that would create much excitment reuniting. It's not like the early brand extension days where Hardys, Dudleys, E&C, APA, and others were all broken up and on seperate brands.

My final thoughts are: The Shield eventually reuniting will be very exciting but that must be minimum two years away. Harper and Rowan if only just to save Rowan from release. PTP have created some hilarious promos and I'm looking forward to seeing them back up that talk in the ring soon.

I think its cool sometimes seeing your favourite tag team or factions reuniting again, Its pretty much happened at some point with most major tag teams or factions, I'm personally not as excited for Prime Time Players only for the first time out they never really done anything worthy or memorable.

It depends. Evolution was handled very well because they acknowledged the past tensions and made it part of the storyline.

As for Prime Time Players, it would've been nice if they had Titus cut a promo acknowledging he screwed up, realized he was at his best with Darren Young and apologizing. Then Darren can accept it and I would be fine with the angle. As it was, it made no sense. But really, WWE didn't seem to put a lot of thought in their reunion.
