Survivor Series 1998 & 2002 with Traditional Elimination matches

Wolf Pac

Mid-Card Championship Winner
This thread is a bit similar to The Brain's Survivor Series 92 with Traditional Elimination matches thread.

1998
No tournament here, just a couple of Survivor Series matches, the WWF Championship match and the rest of the card are mid-card/low-card filler matches. This was definitely the right time for The Rock to turn heel and join The Corporation, so I would've still kept The Rock vs. Mankind for the WWF Championship as the main event. Now onto the Survivor Series matches...

The Rattlesnakes vs. The Corporation
Stone Cold Steve Austin, Kane, Goldust, Al Snow & Steve Blackman vs. Big Bossman, The Undertaker, Ken Shamrock, Jeff Jarrett & Owen Hart

I put the participants who faced each other in the quarter-finals of the tournament against each other except for Owen & Blackman but Owen was a tag team at the time with Jarrett and I think he was feuding with Blackman anyway. Now don't get me wrong when I put Taker, Bossman, Shamrock, Jarrett & Owen as The Corporation. They aren't actually The Corporation although Bossman was a member and Shamrock would go on to join the next night but Taker, Jarrett & Owen would just be one night only members of The Corp and Shamrock would join the stable just a few weeks before SS. Obviously the team is gonna be backed by Vince, so I figured it would be better to call them The Corporation instead of Team Taker or Team Bossman. Anyway I would have The Corporation win with the same screwjob finish from Shane and Bossman or Shamrock pinning Austin.

D-Generation X vs. The Headbanger Nation
X-Pac, Road Dogg, Billy Gunn & Chyna vs. D-Lo Brown, Mark Henry, Mosh & Trasher

Wanted at least one more Survivor Series match and this was the best I could come up with since NAO, Nation & Headbangers faced each other in the night plus D-Lo & X-Pac feuded just a month before the PPV. Would have D-Generation X win this.

2002
No Elimination Chamber match or WWE Championship match, just Survivor Series main events. And I also took out Los Guerrerros vs. Benoit & Angle vs. Edge & Mysterio which could've just easily been used for another PPV, so hopefully no one throws a fit over me removing that match from the PPV.

Team HBK vs. Team HHH
Shawn Michaels, Rob Van Dam, Booker T, Kane & Scott Steiner vs. Triple H, Chris Jericho, Christian, Ric Flair & Test

Took the faces of the Elimination Chamber match and put em against the heels of the Chamber match. I added Scott Steiner to HBK's team cause I couldn't think of anybody else and he was gonna go on to feud with HHH anyway, so this match would've been the setup though SS was his debut appearance. And I couldn't think of anybody else for Trips team except for Christian & Test but Christian was Jericho's partner at the time and Test was Christian's just 2 months before that. Would have Team HBK win here.

Team Lesnar vs. Team Show
Brock Lesnar, Edge, Rey Mysterio, Rikishi & Chris Benoit vs. Big Show, Kurt Angle, Los Guerreros & A-Train

Even though he was with Heyman, Lesnar was the face against Big Show, so I had him team with babyfaces. If I remember correctly, Benoit & Angle lost the Tag Team Titles to Edge & Mysterio before Survivor Series, so splitting them up so they can be part of seperate teams doesn't matter. Like I said above, they could just easily reunite them back together and have the Triple Threat Tag for the WWE Tag Titles some other PPV. As for A-Train, I couldn't think of anybody else to be the fifth man on Show's team but him and Show join forces shortly after Survivor Series anyway, so they would just join a little early. I'd have Team Show win with the same screwjob finish by Heyman.

This is how I would've booked em but how would you have?

For 1998 I would of changed the main event to a Fatal 4 Way Elimination match between Kane, Undertaker, Rock and Stone Cold. All 4 guys were the main contenders, Kane and Undertaker both pinned Austin to 'win' the WWF Title, Rock was the legit Number 1 Contender and Austin deserved a rematch. The last two would of been Austin and The Rock and then I would have The Rock cheat to beat Austin and still join the corporation. That way when Austin beats Rock at WM15 it means more as it was The Rock who took the belt.

So to the Elimination match I would go as follows:

Mankind, Goldust, Al Snow and Steve Blackman v Ken Shamrock, Big Bossman, Jeff Jarrett and Owen Hart

Pretty similar to the Icemans reasoning, obviously minus Austin, Kane and Taker. These guys all had beef with one another. The only twist I would put on it is that Mankind would be the sole survivor and then get thrown into the WWF Title picture and then feud with The Rock for the next few months.

I actually like the DX v Headbanger Nation match, that's really cool, that stays for me.

2002 is a tough one to change, I really liked the PPV, not sure if I would tinker with that, will ponder that one for a while.

I was there live in attendance for this show, and surprisingly felt the same way that you just displayed. I was not too high on this match, and felt that while it did the job, could also have been expected to occur at a different program. Maybe the Guerreros were asked to have used Christian and one other partner such as Rhyno to face the other people in a "Three Way Survivor Series Match", but I don't remember if Rhyno was even in the WWE at the time. He might have fought during the opening contest in a "Six Man Tag Team Table Match" or whatever that thing was called. Perhaps Benoit and Angle would want to team up with Dean Malenko and Perry Saturn returning for one night at the Garden.

As far as Edge and Rey Mysterio were concerned, the best partners for them that I could think of in this match would be Hulk Hogan and John Cena, but I do not think that Hogan would return for helping those other guys out, unless he would be booked as the "sole survivor". Anyway, I just thought of those things on the go while typing, to partially answer the question of how I would want to book some of it. In reality, I know things happen the way they are meant to be carried out. Plus, hindsight really helped too. It was not as if those results would matter much, since the "Tag Team Titles" were almost worthless at this point, despite the somewhat great matches fought for them during a handful of weeks during the year.

Good Thread.

Survivor Series 98

Steve Austin, Undertaker, Ken Shamrock, Billy Gunn, Road Dogg

vs.

Rock, Mick Foley, Kane, Jeff Jarrett, Big Bossman

This match would have allowed the main feuds going in the WWE to be rolled into one match. It would have been a great main event that would have seen how well Austin and Taker could work as a team instead of feuding.

Survivor Series 92

Shawn Michaels, Brock Lesnar, Kane, Kurt Angle, RVD

vs.

Triple H, Big Show, Chris Jericho, Eddie Gurerrero, Booker T

This match would have been awesome. Shawn and Hunter leading opposing teams in the main event would have been a great way for them to continue their feud. It would have been great to see Lesnar and Angle on a team as well.
