Super (Rainn Wilson Film)

Now, this just became available on my Sky+ Anytime this morning and I knew I had to watch it. It was a Superhero Comedy with Rainn Wilson & to be totally honest, I loved it. Here's the Trailer.

At points it overflowed with silly gore and violence, but that was what I loved. I think this following scene was possibly the funniest. Before I post it, if you've not seen the film, after his wife is kidnapped by Kevin Bacon, who plays a drug addict, Rainn becomes the superhero "Crimson Bolt" and fights crime over America, in the hope to save his wife from Kevin Bacon. He also ends up with Ellen Page as a sidekick, who looks lovely in a costume. Anyways, the premise for my favourite scene; Rainn (as his character) is queueing to get into a Movie and someone butts into the queue. It springs the catchphrase "No Cuts, No Buts" and then the Crimson Bolt gets involved. Here it is;

Have you seen the film?
If so, what did you think?

I enjoyed it, but from what I remember the tone was all over the place. Better than Kick-Ass anyway.

ARGH YOU MENTIONED IT.

I was hoping no-one compared it to Kick-Ass, but SO many people in reviews did and I thought it deserved to be left alone y'know.

Kick-Ass is itself and Super is totally different apart from the guy becoming a superhero type thing. I don't know, I love Kick-Ass, but this just beat it by an inch.

It's a lazy comparison, but both also concern inept superheroes and Super was put on the shelf for a while because of Kick-Ass.

It has its moments but overall I couldn't get into it. I like Rainn Wilson and Ellen Page but this kinda missed the mark for me.

Super is fantastic, especially if you're into dark & ridiculously over the type violence. I bought the DVD when it came out, & have watched it several times since. The opening credit sequence is probably one of the best of 2011, & one of my favorites all time.

It was hit and miss for me. At times I loved it, at others I just...I dunno. It's hard to describe. I was into it but it did feel a bit all over the place. Worth a watch though, when it's good, it is hilarious.
