Summerslam 2014 Randy Orton

Everyone seems to be in agreement at this point that there is almost 0% chance of Randy leaving WM as champ. So with that in mind, is there any other scenario than an Orton face turn to feud with The Authority leading up to a Summerslam match with HHH that makes sense?

Between adding the triple threat condition and bringing back Batista because Randy wasn't getting the job done as "Face of the company", I don't see anything else that makes sense.

I agree with you. That seems to be the direction they're going in. I wonder if Vince will get involved in the Authority storyline after WM and if he does, will a face Randy Orton be "his guy?"

IF they're going to keep the authority storyline going on past WM then I think Trips probably screws DB out of the belt in the triple threat match, meaning Batista would be champ. That doesn't really change things for Orton as he will look at it as he also got screwed by Triple H.

Another direction I would like to see them go with Orton but I'm not sure if they will, is to see him feud with the Wyatt Family.

I could see Orton vs. Triple H going down at Summer Slam. It makes sense and while it is nothing new the E would give the program the attention it needs to seem fresh or interesting. I would suggest, really for any program, that Orton take a leave following XXX. It is not like he is held in the same regard as Cena where the company can’t survive without him and it would give him a chance to freshen up and leave the bitch boy routine in the past. Maybe the night after on RAW he is “fired” by the Authority or he drops a “Loser Leaves” match. Anyhow he gets a break and comes back hotter than ever with a revamped character. In his absence they have plenty of names that could step up and fill his spot on the card.

In my first Lari's Musings thread I said Orton can be placed in a programme with the Wyatt family, as a way to turn him face and give him a fresh programme(for Orton there are very few "fresh" programmes available,lMO.).

This programme with the Wyatts can also include a feud with HHH, as obviously I do see Batista becoming an Authority man and Orton being thrown out.

So having Orton being mentally "egged" on by Bray and his family, can be a vehicle for Bray himself to get into the Main Event scene also,lMO, whilst giving Orton a whole new programme, the likes of which he has never been a part of before.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's Bryan/Wyatt for the Title at Summerslam. Wouldn't be surprised if once the Authority separates from Orton if the fans get behind him and it ends up Orton/Batista with some type of stipulation @ Summerslam.

At one point Orton was a face before turning heel'' after cashing in money in the bank to beat Bryan for the WWE Championship at Summerslam. If you're asking if he will ever turn face again, well I don't know. I can't predict the future. It could happen if the Authority decides to turn on Orton, but I don't think he will turn face again anytime soon, ,its easily noticed he is a natural heel, and the WWE lacks top heels. My guess is he faces Alberto Del Rio..

I'd like to see Orton/Lesnar. They are two of the OVW 4 that haven't had a match together. They may do Batista/Lesnar though. I'm not sure. I'd rather Orton not be a babyface.

As much as I'd love to see Randy Orton vs Brock Lesnar, I doubt if they'd go for that match. If they don't, they can have Orton vs Rhodes. They can bring up their Legacy history. Rhodes can beat Orton at Summerslam, and Orton can then turn face after the Wyatts turn their attention to him. Heading to Survivor Series Orton forms a team to take on the Wyatts, involving Rhodes and Goldust and other stars. They can slowly build up Rhodes vs Goldust for Wrestlemania XXXI.
If he is facing Brock, then he can be a tweener.

Randy gets kicked out of The Authority and like Bryan has to fight his way to get to HHH. I could see him being tied up with Kane & NAO for the next couple of months

I don't think Randy wants a face turn. From what we've read these past couple years, he wants to portray a heel and lobbied management to turn him back into one as soon as possible. To his credit, he played the face part well ......which might be a more significant statement than first appears: in his wild past, Randy might have defied orders if he didn't like what they had in store. Instead, he played the good guy role to the hilt and finally got what he wanted in terms of character portrayal. At the same time, I don't know that he'd be amenable to going back to face.

I believe he'd be a fine 'tweener, as he's been before. His natural personality isn't ebullient enough to make him an interesting face, as his past interviews have demonstrated. As a 'tweener, he can keep us off balance without having to rely on his talking ability. This way, they can toss him in against the Wyatts after John Cena is finished with them......or they can pit him against a face like Daniel Bryan if that works best before Summerslam. Giving his character that flexibility is best for him and the company.

Placing Randy in the middle and letting him run with it is his best destiny. It accents the sense of unpredictability that Randy has always displayed in real life.

I understand your point, but the problem is, there needs to be a story to pull Randy out of the title picture or he becomes a face by default if Batista is the champ. The most obvious story is Randy vs. The Authority, but again Randy becomes as a face even if by default. Randy vs. Cena is pointless, Randy vs. Brock is out because Brock is going to disappear again for a couple of months after jobbing to Taker.

Randy staying authority and leading a new short term faction against the Shield would be plausible but it goes against Randy ' s character to stay after HHH'S stipulation cost him the title or HHH bringing back Dave cost him the title.
