Static-X

Cody Rhodes is an excellant
Apparently they have a new album coming out this Tuesday, Cult Of Static how the fuck did I not know this until now!?!

On December 11, 2008 Wayne Static confirmed on the Static-X Message Board the new album's release date and name saying "I had hoped to announce it here first, but my publicist beat me to the punch! The new record is indeed entitled "Cult of Static" and will be released March 17th. The "cult" part of the title is not to be taken in any religious manner, I am referring to and giving respect to the loyalty of all you good people that have supported us through the years. This record is definitely darker than Cannibal and has more synths and loops as well. And this is also the most crushing guitar tone I have ever had. There are 11 songs instead of our usual 12, and they are mostly longer and more epic than ever before."

A new Static-X song called "Lunatic" appeared on soundtrack to the movie Punisher: War Zone.

After hearing that from Wayne, I am defiantly looking forward to this album, Static-X has always been one of my favorite bands, especially since they have all the origianl members back, for awhile there they were slipping off the Justin radar, once they brought Kiochi back on guitar I think they got back on the right track and every album since Start A War has been truly epic, and from the way ity sounds this album sounds to be no different, I just hope they make a stop here again when they go out on tour, they have easily been one of the most fun shows I have been to each time I've seen them

I wish I knew more about this band. I am not particularly well-versed in Static-X, but I certainly can see staying power when I see it. They've been a mainstay in the hard rock scene for years now, and have developed quite a fan base as well. If Justin likes this album, I may have to check it out. I've enjoyed many of Justin's musical suggestions (with the exception of Machinehead) thus far.

I had heard rumors of a new album, but never anything definite. This is good to know. Between this and Lamb Of God, it's shaping up to be a good spring.

I've been a fan of their's since Push It, and I'm pretty sure they can't write shitty music. I saw them at Ozzfest '07, and they put on an excellent show. It'll be cool to see them again, but I doubt it'll be on a major festival, with all of them having already announced their line-ups.

How any fan of metal can not like Machine Heads The Blackening I'll never understand

The new LOG is fucking epic, hasn't left my car since it came out, fucking awesome album

As I said this album looks to be fucking epic, and, to me anyways, it seems like since Start A War each album has just gotten better than the last, I now have a reason to look forward to Teusday, and here's just a taste of what we can all expect from this album

Oh and BTW Dave Mustaine did the solo on this song

It appears marrying a pornstar has done him some good. I was worried that having his personal life put under a microscope would soften him, and effect what the band puts out. I was wrong. It's nice and heavy, and reminds me a bit of the stuff they were putting out around So Cold. I can't wait to see a video, or at least get some information on tour dates.

There's a few bands out there they'd be good to tour with, that aren't already being listed for the festival tours. Like, Lamb Of God. That tour would fucking rock. There's also Metallica, and that would put all evil disco fans into shock.

I would love to see Metallica bring back the Summer Sanitarium tour, imagine if they had both Lamb of God, and Static-X on that tour, then added Down (who right now, as far as I know have no summer tour plans) and a couple other lesser known bands, that tour would be fucking insane

EDIT: found some more songs on Youtube

The majority of the songs are 3 minutes longer than they need to be. That's my reason. Can't name more than 3 songs from it either. Wolves, The Blackening and Aesthetics of Hate. The track, 'In The Presence of My Enemies' from Through The Ashes of Empires is better than ALL of 'The Blackening'. They tried to do 'the next Master of Puppets' and didn't manage it. All metal bands should give up on that idea immediately. Stop trying to surpass Metallica, and just be you for god's sake.

LOL, i don't want to seem like i'm arguing for the sake of it, but seriously? Start A War wasn't good. Wisconsin Death Trip was fuckin' amazing. Machine was a great album as well. Shadow Zone was a slightly different style, but just as enjoyable as the previous two. Their B-Sides album which i can't remember the name of right now, was also pretty good.

Start A War was disappointing. Just didn't like it personally.

Unless someone played me the wrong album, Cannibal was in fact Machine but with different lyrics. The riffs, arrangements and beats were ALL exactly the same. I heard that album, and turned to my mate and said, 'isn't that the lead riff from 'Structural Defect?' and low and behold, it was. And then listened harder and kept saying 'this is the riff for..... from Machine!'

Anyway, for once i won't be paying for a Static X album. Great band, loved everything up until 'Start A War' and never listened to Cannibal again after the first time. I hope this album is back to their previous standards, and it'll be worth checking out purely for Mustaine's solo.

(Sigh) So after all that, no one's even got the album yet. Or perhaps they're all let down by it and don't want to admit that they actually got it.

It's a good album. Haven't given it a proper listen to yet, and it kinda sounds a bit samey, and some of the tracks seem to bleed into one another, but otherwise it's an enjoyable album.

Stingwray would be my favourite at the moment.
