You knew this was bound to happen eventually, since it's been something we've been talking about for years. Yes, fans, George Lucas and LucasFilm have announced that beginning in 2012, they'll be re-releasing all six Star Wars films in theaters in 3D. The plan right now is to release one film per year, beginning with Episode I: The Phantom Menace.

Neat. Would you rather they start with Episode I or Episode IV?

Episode 1

It's the shittiest of all six imo. Episodes 2 and 3 will probably both be pretty cool as far as 3D special effects go, and I'm not sure how the older ones will look in 3D, but I'll take my 3D Harrison Ford any way I can get him.

They should just skip Eps 1 & 2, and start with Ep. 3 and go from there, I always felt that Eps 1 & 2 were unnecessary for the most part

I just felt 1 & 2 were boring for the most part and really did nothing for the franchse, Lucas could have easily condensed those two movies into one moive and gotten everything across that he needed to, the only shit in Ep. 1 that stands out to me were the pod racing sequence, and the Darth Maul lightsaber duel, as for Ep. 2 the only thing that comes to mind was the Yoda lightsaber duel

Empire is by far the best of the whole series, and I would likely go and see that one regardless of if it's in 3D or not

Also think they should release them 6 months apart instead of a year, but that's just me

It'll probably take until 2015 to have A New Hope completely remastered and in 3-D. that might be why they're starting with 1, to make 4-6 look as spectacular as possible.

Also, the comments on that page won't shut up about the supposed Episodes 7-9

There was supposed to be episode 7-9. But it never eventuated and never will since the ESWU is so prominant and accepted to be canon meaning that the Thrawn stuff by Timothy Zhan is where the next trilogy comes in.

I'm not going to knock Star Wars in 3D until I've seen it, because that sounds quite epic. The whole concept of making everything 3D nowa'days though is just getting abit out of hand. It wasn't really that good the first time I saw a 3D film, now everything is pretty much released in 3D. Not only does it cost another £5 here in the UK just to see it in 3D, but you could get the same experience in 2D and save a headache for 2+ hours.

It's an extraordianary concept that has been brought into the filming industry, don't get me wrong: but I just think it's becoming abit too much. We even have 3D televisions being brought out now.. Like I say, I wont knock SW in 3D until I've seen it.

So this is somewhat off topic, but am the only one that would lke to see them make a TV show that bridges the gap between Sith & New Hope?, when I first heard they were going to make a Star Wars show I thought that's what they were doing then it ended up being the dumb Clone Wars cartoons, which I have little to no interest in what so ever

apparently that's the aim of the force unleashed games

The Force Unleashed is somewhat of an alternate universe game. As for bridging the gap, there are quite a few books on it, including one Darth Vader book.

So, I didn't click on the link or read in full detail because it seems a new "remaking" of Star Wars has been coming out every 5 years lately anyways. *meh*

Are they putting all 6 in 3-D, or just the original 3? The Empire Strikes Back would be awesome in 3D, simply because of the snow. Beyond that, whats really gonna jump out? Stars? And what could possibly be in 1-3 that jumps out..

Also - I agree with Klunder; I rather enjoyed all episodes. I'm a Portman fan, and don't think Hayden did an awful job. I liked the 2nd one the most though - mainly because I'm a sucker for love stories. :heartfilledwithemotions:

Couldn't we just watch them on Spike TV? It's just one less D. Unless you have a 3D TV.

there's plenty of shit that could standout such as the Pod-racing sequence, lightsaber fights, Luke destroying the Deathstar, the blasters, etc.

I remember going to see Return of the Jedi when they re-released the films "digitally enhanced" into theaters like 12 years ago, and even back then as a child I remember thinking "Man, they're really getting every last buck out of this franchise that they can", and that was before the new films.

Meh. That's how I feel. Shit I might go see one of them though, just for the fun of seeing one of the original Star Wars in the movie theater.
