Speculation Regarding the Death of Chris Benoit

We need to think with our heads and not our hearts on this too. Looking at everything now and waiting for what will come. Man, these next weeks will be tough...

Relax he was a actor on TV.Not a member of your family.I have seen him wrestle since his early days in Canada.I didn't know him and no one here knew him.Don't give him a free pass because he was a good wrestler. Also don't try to make it ok he did this.He killed his wife and son.The reason doesn't matter. He did.No one else did it.

With all due respect, Y2J, it may be time to eliminate one of your earlier quotes from this site: "People only go there to buy porn and murder people. We're doing both." May have been funny at the time and in context, but seems a little inappropriate now.

XFEARBEFORE, your comparison to OJ Simpson says it all. OJ is constantly villified by people for killing his wife and her friend. There were conspiracy theorists at the time who alleged everyone in the world but OJ did it. Benoit kills his wife, and SUFFOCATES HIS SEVEN YEAR OLD SON TO DEATH IN HIS OWN BED, yet people are still talking about Benoit like he's some sort of a legend. Forget the conspiracy theories, folks, let's face the facts re: Benoit. To quote one of Cena's songs, he's a "bad, bad man."

I think it's total bullshit about "Roid Rage" or head injuries causing Benoit to do what he did. A very high percentage of WWE are on steroids (IMO) or at least have been at somepoint in their careers. An even higher percentage suffer head injuries. Yet they don't go around slaughtering their families. It's far more likely that Benoit received bad news from his wife (affair, going to leave him, etc., ) he got pissed off and snapped. No excuses, just poor impulse control from an evil man.

To those who are baffled by the claim that Daniel was coughing up blood, has it ever occurred to you that Benoit made the story up to explain why he was going home? If he had stayed in Texas, he obviously cannot kill his family in Georgia. So he made up a bullshit story about coughing up blood, and went home and did the deed. Ironically on the weekend of a PPV named VENGEANCE. (I assume this will be the last year for a PPV of this name).

Would love to know the content of and the timing of the supposed text messages to Chavo. Especially after hearing Chavo pay tribute to Benoit last night, I'd love to now what he knew and when he knew it.

Ok he did it god stop putting excuses there are still other good wrestlers out there. True he was awesome and great as a wrestler but when he commited the murders ehh not so much. This is like walking into a building on fire people are running in circles screaming "oh my god im on fire" and you going I wont believe this building is on fire until everyone dies. Once again common sense has left the building for some of you guys.

This is my first post here, although I have posted on various other sites in the past. I just wish this message could be on ANY other subject than the one it unfortunately is. I, like so many of you am currently in a state of suspended disbelief and shock. I will openly admit that it takes something huge to shock me, but this genuinely has to my very core. I think the most difficult part to accept about all of this is, you see a personality on your tv sets and you grow to love, respect and connect with that "character". Then, when a tragedy like this occurs *IF* (and all evidence points towards him having done this) Chris Benoit killed himself and his family you realize in that all defining moment you never knew that "person" at all.

Do I truly believe that Chris Benoit is one of the most naturally talented, intense, hard working individuals to ever grace the squared circle? Yes, yes I do. Do I have any respect regardless of state of mind for ANYBODY who murders their own wife and son in cold blood? Absolutely, catergorically NOT.

Is it possible that the police could be wrong,.. ok I did not know him personally. I just can't believe that this is true...there are people who can make situations seem like a murder - suicide...people do it all the time.

This is just off the news

ATLANTA – Chris Benoit strangled his wife, suffocated his seven-year-old son and placed a Bible next to their bodies before hanging himself by the pulley of a weightlifting machine, authorities said Tuesday.
Investigators also found prescription anabolic steroids in the house, Lt. Tommy Pope of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department. He would not comment on Benoit’s state of mind or possible motive.

Autopsies showed all three died of asphyxiation, Pope said.

Benoit’s wife, Nancy, was killed Friday in an upstairs family room, her feet and wrists were bound and there was blood under her head, indicating a possible struggle, Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard said.

The son, Daniel, was likely killed shortly afterwards, and the body found in his bed, Ballard said.

Benoit apparently killed himself several hours and as long as a day later, Ballard said.

His body was found in a downstairs weight room, his body found hanging from the pulley of a piece of exercise equipment.

The prosecutor said he found it “bizarre” that the WWE wrestling star spread out the killings over a long weekend and appeared to remain in the house for up to a day with the bodies.

“I’m baffled about why anybody would kill a seven-year-old,” Ballard said. “I don’t think we’ll ever be able wrap our head around that.”

A law enforcement official close to the investigation earlier said Benoit strangled his wife and smothered his son before hanging himself in his weight room.

Speaking to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity, the official also said authorities are investigating whether steroids may have been a factor in the deaths.

The family was found dead Monday, and authorities were investigating the deaths as a murder-suicide.

Investigators believe the 40-year-old Benoit killed his wife, Nancy, 47, and son, Daniel, 7, over the weekend, then himself on Monday.

World Wrestling Entertainment said on its website that it asked authorities to check on the wrestler and his family after being alerted by friends who received “several curious text messages sent by Benoit early Sunday morning.”

Stamford, Conn.,-based WWE also said on its website it had further information on the deaths, but had been asked by authorities not to release it.

Benoit, who was born in Montreal, was a former world heavyweight champion, Intercontinental champion and held several tag-team titles over his career.

At five-foot-11 and 220 pounds, Benoit was often described as a rabid wolverine in the ring. “The Canadian Crippler” had a chiselled physique and was known for his superior technical skills.

The “Crippler Crossface” was one of his signature moves, along with a flying headbutt from the top rope and triple German suplex.

Fellow wrestlers admired Benoit’s hard-nosed attitude.

“Chris was the type of guy you’d want to go to war with,” said WWE champion John Cena. “He was a good man, he truly lived for the business. He did everything for it.”

Benoit held several titles over his career but realized his dream at Wrestlemania 20 in 2004, defeating Shawn Michaels and champion Triple H in a triple threat match at Madison Square Garden to win the WWE world heavyweight championship for the first time.

Benoit’s wife managed several wrestlers and went by the stage name, “Woman,” The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

They met when her then-husband drew up a script that had them involved in a relationship as part of an ongoing story line on World Championship Wrestling, the newspaper said.

Benoit was scheduled to perform at the “Vengeance” pay-per-view event Sunday night in Houston, but was replaced at the last minute because of what announcer Jim Ross called “personal reasons.”

Benoit became a standout at an early age among many wrestling prospects who trained in the famed dungeon basement of the home where fellow Canadians and professional wrestlers Owen and Bret Hart trained.

Owen Hart was killed in a freak stunt accident during a wrestling pay-per-view event in 1999.

“He was like a family member to me, and everyone in my family is taking it real hard,” Bret Hart, a five-time champion with the now-defunct World Wrestling Federation, said. “It’s almost like reliving the whole Owen (Hart) death over again.”

Benoit maintained a home in metro Atlanta from the time he wrestled for the defunct World Championship Wrestling.

The WWE cancelled its live “Monday Night RAW” card in Corpus Christi, Texas, and USA Network aired a three-hour tribute to Benoit in place of the scheduled wrestling telecast.

The tribute began with WWE chairman Vince McMahon standing in the middle of an empty ring, eyes welling up with tears and voice cracking as he broke the news of Benoit’s death.

“We at the WWE can only offer our condolences to the extended family of Chris Benoit,” said McMahon. “The only other thing we can do at this moment is pay tribute to Chris Benoit.”

In a statement posted on it’s website, the WWE said it “extends its sincerest thoughts and prayers to the Benoit family’s relatives and loved ones in this time of tragedy.”

To quote Steve Austin......."What?" If this was the LAPD I could see it,but really, who else could there have been?

ddlundy get a life.Picking up a man over 200 hundred pounds and hang him.Don't you think his face and other body parts would show a fight.HE DID.He was messed up.Deal with it.

how do you guys think wwe will handle it on ecw tonight?

I bet they wish they could take back the tribute from last night, seeing that it was a tribute to what turned out to be a very evil man.

I think they won't mention benoit at all. They'll just go on with their ecw storyline. If you have nothing good to say, don't say anything.

If they do say something about benoit, it should be negative.

Why do people feel the need to post these crazy scenarios when it is clear that Chris Benoit himself committed this horrible crime. Stop with all the conspiracy theories and just accept that Chris, as it turns out, is a murderer. I admire the man's work just as much as anyone but as a man he is obviously a failure. If he was having mental problems he could have easily left the house and tried to get some help instead of resorting to this. Ok so they found steroids in the house. Big deal, stop blaming everything on that. And another thing. Stop saying there is a chance he didn't do this. It's basically 100% confirmed that he is the murderer. There is no other way this could have happened, not given the evidence at hand.

Bottom line is that something happened over the weekend to cause this. What that thing was, well I'd say only Chris himself knows that and he sure as hell can't tell us. I'd love to know what the text messages said that he sent to friends and I'd love to have the absolute truth as to why this had to happen, but again, we will probably never know the real reason behind this senseless tragedy. I can still respect Chris as a wrestler, because your on screen character and your real life are two different things, but as a man I will never think of him the same again. I guess it's true when they say you never truly know someone at all. I'd hate to be a loved or a close friend of his right now, knowing the truth about a man you thought was a genuinely good person.

RIP Nancy, Daniel
Chris, you can go to hell.

"Some guys are loose cannons, and you can expect something like this happening but not with Chris Benoit. - Bret Hart

Wow. All I can say is wow now that it has been almost confirmed that he did it. What would have driven Benoit to do such a thing, was it wrestling/personal or other? It is sad but we may never find out...

This has been a sad and shocking last few days for the wrestling world, For the benoit friends and family, and just fans of both. 2nd, there is no justification for what is believed that Chris Benoit did. I as many of you were in a complete state of shock upon hearing the news that He his wife and son were all found dead in their home. As the story has unraveled i've found that its disgusting that a man that so many people admire and look up to would do such an act. No doubt there was something seriously wrong with him, people don't just wake up and decide to kill their family, however the legacy of
Chris Benoit was destroyed as a result of this. no matter how great a wrestler he was, it is all over-shadowed by this act.

Wrestlers are people, their on air characters are a part of who they are, especially in the last 10 years where gimicks are more just glorified aspects of those peoples real lives with the exception of a few who are still completely over the top made up characters. You can't say Benoit the wrestler was a great man. Benoit the person killed his family, this is a media nightmare for the WWE, on the heels of the McMahon death angle the WWE PR department has an uphill upstream battle in front of them. CNN reported that over the last 10 years 60 wrestlers have died, just thinking about it and all those who have died including but not limited to Brian Pillman, Owen Hart, Davey Boy Smith, Crash Holly, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Candido, Rick Rude, Yokozuna, Bam Bam Bigelow, Mike Awesome, Curt Hennig, Big Boss Man, Sherri, Elizabeth. Not all of these were wrestling related, and no doubt some are because of serious personal issues but the numbers are staggering. no other form of entertainment has had personalities die at this rate, many questions are going to be asked in the upcoming weeks and the WWE is going to be scrutinized on how they treat, how they help and support their roster. It may not be the WWE's fault, but it will be placed upon them. Reports say that it could have been roid rage that drove benoit to kill his family. The NFL and MLB have recently gone under a lot of scrutiny for steroids and previously the WWE has as well. This will only escalate the talks of it though however and legally or illegally if it is a result of Benoit doing and being under the influence of steroids, the WWE will probably have to re-evaluate its wellness program.

I never thought my first post would be because of such an awful event, i send my condolences to the extended Benoit family, the Wrestling community and am deeply saddened to hear of such a horrible happening.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure all references to the guy will be banned. They already took down all the benoit merchandise on the website, and they've made it so that a search for "chris benoit" on wwe.com won't give results.
But he's still #7 on the top 25 wrestlers page.

To quote Steve Austin......."What?" If this was the LAPD I could see it,but really, who else could there have been?

LAPD...do you have anything against our beloved Donut Monsters?? :D

I think that's it, and frankly, dont expect any other details to be revealed, if there's any...
May the wrat of Satan fall over the murderer. Whoever it was...
Sorry, just kidding. Over Benoit.

Yeah, she kills the boy, hangs Benoit, andd then ties herself up and somehow chokes to death? He killed them, there is no one else.
