Sorting the tag team out with the scraps we have left

I know this is a thread which is often posted, but after the PTP reunion and the split of the Dusts this is relevant more than ever.

As it stands we have -
The Uso's
Kidd and Cesaro
The Ascension
New Day
Prime Time Players
Miz and Mizdow (for a couple more weeks)
Los Matadores

In all honesty, that quantity of teams is not bad. But it is the way they are booked which is. I have a few ideas which I think would help boost the division considerably.

Uso's vs Kidd and Cesaro
This really could be a fantastic tag match, as good as if not better than the Uso's matches with The Wyatt's. Firstly keep the women out of it, they add nothing to the story. They are no Lita or Molly Holly. Give them time to have great matches. Why not main event Main Event in a 15 minute match? Why not have a 2 out of 3 falls match to open Smackdown? I think these guys could have a great feud if given time to show their in ring ability and not use Total Diva's.

Los Matadores vs Kalisto & Sin Cara
Hear me out on this one. Los Matadores are very good wrestlers, held back by an awful gimmick. On Kalisto & Cara's main roster debut as a team have Primo & Epico attack them. A best of 5 series could be a fun way to show off their styles, especially if not held back by their gimmick. Why not include a ladder match to finish off the series? But make a big deal about the series. They want to prove they are the best Latin team in WWE. They are not the most charismatic, nor will they put butts in seats. But if given some match time their styles could make some fun and fresh television

Turn New Day heel
But do it properly. They need to attack Ziggler or Bryan, the former being the best option at present. Cost Ziggler a WWE title match? They have tried to be nice, it did not work. They have seen the success of The Shield. It is a New Day and it is their time. Throw in some 3 on 3 matches. Maybe New Day vs Ziggler and PTP's. Or even better vs Ziggler, Ryback and Rowan? 3 on 3 matches were awesome, and the product is much worse without them.

Sort out the Ascension
The gimmick is horrible. Absolutely awesome. They were no nonsense mysterious ass kickers in NXT. Their matches were not the best, but they were destructive. I say just attack everyone and anyone as they go down the ramp before a match. So far they have feuded with jobbers and NAO. Not the best way to introduce them to the roster. Maybe even align them with a heel, working with Wyatt could be a fun route to go.

Whether you put them back with Bray or not, I'd definitely have Luke Harper and Erick Rowan back as a team- there was so much for them to achieve as a duo that they didn't accomplish in their first run. It was a joke that they didn't hold the Tag-Team Titles while they were part of the Wyatt Family, I'd rectify that immediately.

It surely must nearly be time to bring up the Lucha Dragons from NXT. Kalisto and Sin Cara are very exciting performers and they deserve a chance to be a permanent part of the main roster. The fans will surely take to their high-dlying style of offence, and I think matches against Kidd/Cesaro would be brilliant.

I'm so bored already with The Ascension, which is really surprising as I was excited for their main roster debut. They were awesome in NXT, but this stupid new gimmick they have is awful. I don't know why WWE changed something that was working before even letting them try it out on the big show. I think Konnor needs to tone up and some some weight, he looks so out of shape these days and Viktor needs to actually get to the gym- wearing those massive shoulder pads when you are as small as he is looks stupid. If I was WWE, I would try and resign Kenneth Cameron (currently Bram in TNA) and bring him back to rejoin The Ascension- he is much better than Viktor, and as he's Charlotte Flair's husband I think he'd be more than happy to come back to the WWE.

The tag team division is okay for the minute but it will suffer due to the losses of the The Dust Brothers and Miz & Mizdow. I don't think the PTP, Ascension and Cesaro & Kidd are enough to sate the needs of Tag Team division enthusiasts. The division simply lacks 'that team'...see Dudleys, Hardy Boys, E&C, New Age Outlaws etc.


Putting Harper and Rowan back together would be a smart move. Let them develop as a team rather than individuals. They were always overshadowed by Bray Wyatt.

I always used to think Alex Riley and Jack Swagger would be a great team. Both are big guys, can go in the ring and Riley has a lot of charisma. Swagger lacks a bit of charisma but he is popular and far more suited to a face role so tagging these together would be really interesting.

Bad News Barrett and Sheamus are doing well as single superstars but they would make a great heel tag team so if the division ever needs a lift...

I disagree. The only team to have long term decent booking is The Uso's, making viable contenders lacking.

Despite the division being relatively poor in recent years, there has been top storylines to make up for lack of depth. Team Hell No, The Shield, The Wyatt Family, Rhodes Brothers and The Real Americans all added significantly. Then you had teams such as Rey & Sin Cara, Rhode Scholars and PTP to add some depth.

At present the only storylines in the tag division are - something to do with a Total Diva or teasing split ups. New Day beat the Dusts but noone cared. Why don't the commentators make a big deal that they beat the two-time former tag champions and caused the tipping point in their alliance. We just need simple effective booking and the division will improve.

That could be a good idea. Riley has just returned to the ring on NXT, and he's always been popular- even without being an active wrestler. I thought he had a lot of potential but was never really given the chance. Swagger has very little going now, so I'd be happy to see these 2 paired up as a legitimate long-term tag team. I think they'd accomplish more as a duo than as singles wrestlers.

If they want to make the New Day work, I say they gradually scrap the gimmick and remove Big E from the equation. The whole thing just feels TOO fake for me. With their styles and hell, even some matching gear, I could see Woods and Kingston becoming a credible tag team. Big E just feels like the third wheel who is horribly out of place. I agree the Ascension needs some serious figuring out. I just don't know how to take them. Sin Cara and Kalisto would be over big with kids is marketed correctly. I love the Usos but I think people are starting to get Uso overkill now. Kidd and Cearo are awesome as well.

The tag team scene in WWE mirrors the entire roster: "it ain't watcha got, it's how ya use it".

if hawkins was still there instead pf jobbing he could have went back with ryder way to get ryder on the show plus they could have been a decent team but maybe a ziggler ryback team thats been on the go recently can stay for a while and have decent matches with the ascension and usos and even kidd and cesaro thats 4 decent teams with ptp and los matadores plus new day so build on one of them teams to make 5 decent teams in the division for a while maybe even use big show and kane back there for a while

The tag division is probably at an all time low, and theres not gonna be a quick fix. The teams that are there aren't too great and none are real popular.

The Uso's are a good team, good moves, good attitudes, and popularity especially with younger fans. But they have a shelf life that is starting to expire. They are basically a tag team version of John Cena, and we all know the hits he takes online and with older fans. Many performers are criticized for being one dimensional, and to me the Uso's are the most one dimensional of all superstars.

Kidd and Cesaro will be a good team, and they will both benefit from the rub given by McMahon in that infamous podcast. They are a good team, good moves, but destined to split as each other become better.

Bringing up the Lucha Dragons, I feel, will not help much. It's hard for a luchador to truly get over in WWE. They can bring some excitement to Raw but it won't last much beyond their debut.

And OMG the new day. These guys just ain't getting it done. Noone likes em. 3 people with tremendous talent but can't get a pop except for when they edit it into the Smackdown broadcast. They need to go a different way, maybe split them up, or maybe even turn them heel. I wish wwe wasn't so controlling sometimes, wish they'd let these 3 have more control over their gimmicks and lines.

I'd like to see Swagger back in a tag team. That's when he gets over most. People really like his in ring work, but not other aspects of the character. He was born to be a faction enforcer, get him a partner.

It's the worst gimmick possibly in the last 15 years.
The stupid Gospel choir shit entrance. The chant that no one in the fucking building gives two shits about. Just get Woods off my screen and let Big E. be a lower mid-card heel like he was and put Kofi in a real tag team and give them the belts.

Love the Barrett/Sheamus idea someone suggested. Call it The Bad News Brawlers. Great fucking team right there. Let em be tag champs for a year.

Kofi/Neville? High flying high impact team. Might work might not. Kofi's career is such a dumpster fire for a guy with so much friggin talent. Really a big shame.

I'm very stoked about the PTP reunion. "Millions of dollars" gimmick was one of the funnier things around for a while.

Bring up Kalisto to pair with Sin Cara to reunite the Lucha Dragons

Break Big E. Langston away from New Day. He is a much better single superstar

Reunite Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder

Like the pairing of Alex Riley and Jack Swagger

Either reunite Harper and Rowan or what about the idea of Harper and Axel? They have a similar look to them

How about the idea of Adam Rose and Heath Slater-the whole Rosebud act with a little Rock and Rock added to it.

Lucha Dragons should be coming up any week now, i'd have them face The Ascension since that can keep going.

I flip on what a want Stardust/Cody to do, but if they can somehow get a rhodes scholars reunion out of these breakups I'll be impressed.

When Breeze gets called up think he'll get by easier in a tag team, no idea who but please not another Rose/Fandango year. prince pretty is too good for that.

All these divisions can be good with just a little story it works wonders for Tyson/Cesario.

Natayla and Naomi are just as good as Lita and Molly Holly if not better, they just weren't given the same opportunities.

Los Matadores is a lost cause. They seem to have problems with gimmicks of wrestlers who are minorities. They need to repackaged into a gimmick that doesn't draw attention to it.

I can see the New Day being better as heels, Woods can talk, Big E brings the muscle and Kofi needs a new start.

The Ascension don't need a Wyatt. They just need to dominate. WWE keeps booking them as equals to their opponents.

Speaking of Wyatts, Rowan and Harper need to reunite, I can't remember the last time Rowan or Harper won a singles match and it's not like they're going to get singles gold any time soon.

I'd love to see the Rhodes Scholars reunite. With Cody and Dustin seeing things differently and same with Miz and Mizdow, they could just switch places. Miz with Goldust and Cody back with Sandow.
