So.....

Nah a little further north. Seeing as how I don't have any pro teams in my state, I pretty much follow the Minnesota teams, sans the Twolves because they're the Twolves. I'm also a Dallas Stars fan alongside being a Minnesota Wild fan. Also the Cleveland Browns are my second team behind the Vikings.

I don't venture into the Music section much, but when I do, I avoid the Rap/Hip Hop threads. But I will say Bone Thugs N Harmony were the only thing to get me into hip hop in the 90's.

Hmmm I'm supposed to mentor someone that avoids hip hop threads. I don't see how that would work exactly.

I know how it feels, well in regards to basketball, it's my favorite sport to play and my next favorite to watch next to the Cards, but we have no team. I usually follow Denver or Atlanta.

I'm a Celtics fan, not as a bandwagon jumper, but because Garnett is my favorite player. Iverson is my second, and well....I don't see him playing anymore, he's pretty much done for. I also follow Denver, and I like Portland as well.

I'm really just a fan of certain players. Hawks have always been the number one team I follow since I appreciate history and they won a title in STL. I loved Melo at Syracuse so that's were that came from.

I avoid out of ignorance, not distaste in the music (even though I'm not crazy about it). I tend to just enjoy my pre-2002 Rap in solitude.

Hey man it's all good. I'm an old school hip hop head myself. Give the all hip hop thread a try, we talk a lot of old school stuff.

Nothin much. loving life. you?

Not a whole lot, just chillin, daughter's in bed, done with work for the week, enjoying my peace and quiet.

I've never posted in it either, it's hard to make a non spam post on music really. Always loved Tip though, probably the only artist that makes me buy all their cds.

It ain't that bad actually, and I've often made different gimmicks for posters to follow so it's easy to make non spam. I've done multiple lists in my thread and otherwise set up nice discussion questions. TIP's old stuff was sick, I didn't like his stuff originally, but he's grown on me.

Cool. Think I found love when I wasnt even looking for it, we get along really well. She's more than twice my age but I dont give a fuck.

ATL's got some good stuff in the hip hop scene, Lil Jon and The Eastside Boyz are constantly bumping in the ride. I'm a huge fan of a lot of Houston rappers, and Memphis has a lot going for it as well.

For me though, the Midwest will always be on top for my favorites.

My first topic I will touch on, is the decay of the state of Hip Hop. Now whether or not you like it, hip hop has been decaying now for the last few years, with weak acts that lean more towards pop that the actual hip hop we have all known and love.

This is pretty much how I feel about the current state of hip hop. Growing up on real hip hop and trying to listen t this pop infused bullshit mixed in with far too much synthesized noises and voices, I can't get into the current stuff at all unless their from Houston (I love every aspect of Houston's music scene, far more diversafied then Austin's).

Right on homie, age ain't shit. Hell my fiancee is 11 years older than me. And I wasn't looking for love when I found her either. I was only 20 and my parents convinced me to come to this tiny ass town of about 50 people with them to see a band play. Met her, we hooked up that night, and we been together ever since.

Haha yeah when I wrote that I was a staunch old school hip hop defender. I've mellowed out quite a bit since then, seeing as how there are some good artists coming up now that are mainstream. Lupe Fiasco is outstanding, as is Kid Cudi. The underground scene is thriving in ways not seen for quite awhile as well.

Houston rap is dope, I got a lot of Chamillionaire, SPM, Lil Flip, Trae the Truth, Z-RO, Slim Thug, and others in my music vault.

Met her in a similar way as yours.
I'm only 20. She's 47, has 3 adult kids & 2 grandkids
I met her a month ago, but I was totally wasted so she didnt think anything of me, saw her again a week later, but I was drunk as hell again so again she didnt think anything of me. Finally a week later, I was sober, we hung out, didnt hook up but had oral in her car, hooked up w/her a few days later & been together ever since but just as friends.

You know,I'm a big Chamillionaire fan,but he's gets a little too talk-y on mixtape messiahs.

Definitely can't wait for Venom tho

UGK by far is my favorite rap group from the south. Bun B especially. Pimp C was damn good in his own right, and I'm still saddened that he's gone.

I'll check those out and get back to you.

Even though I'm pretty much regarded as a metalhead/punk lover, when ever Slim Thug comes to town I see him. I saw Chamillionaire once, but the crowd wasn't to accepting of my Dead Kennedy's T-shirt that read "Kill the Poor". In hindsight, I can see why. :lmao:

Pimp C was a beast, and when he was on lock Bun did more than just hold it down,he pretty much revived em in the clubs and on mainstream.

Damn man you weren't kidding about that. That's alright though man, I've been with a number of older women myself, and (obviously) I prefer them to women my own age often times. Women around our age group still act like they still in high school often times, and I'm too damn grown to be dealing with that shit still. Good for you though homie, I hope all goes well in that for you. My fiancee has a 13 year old daughter. She's pretty cool, listens well and I've corrupted, I mean influenced her music tastes for the better.
