So, what's the story, Braun?

Mustang Sally

Sells seashells by the seashore
Can anyone figure why the company brought this guy in to be a Godzilla-type monster......but hasn't yet set him loose on Tokyo?

When a seemingly overpowering figure enters a wrestling organization, he's going to be an indestructible force, at least until the forces of good can break him down. For some, it's as short as one night.....think of Tiny ('Zeus') Lister against Hulk Hogan. You can even think of The Great Khali in his earliest days. He'd take an open-handed swipe at an opponent and the guy would collapse in a heap. It was a while before he started jobbing, remember.

Wouldn't you reason the same thing was going to happen with Braun? When we saw a helpless Roman Reigns held aloft by the big guy, didn't it seem we were in for something really special? Sure, we knew people would get to him eventually, but why so soon?

As I see it, the early dismantling of the immovable object came because of the mini-program with the Undertaker. Yeah, they had to give 'Taker his brother to put Braun over the announcer's table, but there's no way a legend like Undertaker was going to be outright bested by a newcomer; at least not in such a short program, which is the only kind 'Taker works today.

So, now what? Undertaker is gone and WWE Creative has to decide whether Braun Strowman goes back to being an invulnerable monster......or whether his cover is blown and he's about to start losing one-on-one to midcard performers.

What do you think? Has opportunity passed Braun by?

I don't think the ship has sailed on Braun. Mostly because they've already poked so many holes in the bottom of it that it'll sink as soon as they let it free

Anybody else find it weird that this beast person who could no sell a chair shot was warded off by 1 measley kendo stick swing last night? He sold it like a mosquito had bit him but somehow that was enough. It reminds me of how Vader was booked against Shawn Michaels but obviously on a much lower level. How is this massive person scared of a person half their size?

On a personal note, I hate Brauns face. He looks like Nick Dinsmore somehow developed gigantism. And (pardon my language) who the fuck thought giving him The Yetis weird body squeeze submission was a good idea? Have they retired the chokeslam like famous numbers in sports? Hell, give him the Razors Edge finish. Anything but the bullshit body squeeze

I'll leave one positive so it doesn't sound like I'm burying him. I think they've given him the chance to talk one time. Usually I'd prefer to keep "the muscle" quiet like Reigns in the shield, but Braun wad actually believable. I'm not saying to let him talk more, I was just impressed with that 1 or 2 sentence promo

I actually think it's a refreshing change from the usual monster booking. They often go undefeated for awhile until they get into a bigger program and then lose. After that, they often fizzle out and disappear or become irrelevant.

I wouldn't be surprised if that happened to him if/when he separates from the Wyatts. But, like Big Show, with his massive size over everyone else, he's instantly credible. I know people have soured on Big Show, but that's because he's been around for so long and gone through so many stupid storylines.

At the very least, he's more agile than Khali.

He has a babyface and is trying very hard to cover it up with that beard.

On a more serious note. I'm not interested at all in Braun. He has no storyline, no character, besides being "The Force of Destruction"...In the words of Joe Rogan...WoW!. He's not the type to get over in today's WWE universe, unless he has some hidden charisma, mic skills that I'm unaware of, you never know.

They are dropping the ball hard on Braun and the whole Wyatt family at this point. It's disgusting really. I couldn't care less about this Dudley boys feud.

True, and that's why I'm wondering if the Undertaker program has stalled, but not stopped, the Strowman Express. After all, if Undertaker agreed to do a non-WM program, no one was going to stop him, right? Yet, while Bray and his original country cousins Erick & Luke were available to be defeated.... since they often have been.... Braun was too new to go down hard.

And so, technically he didn't. His aura of mystery might have been dimmed by being associated with the losing side of the 'Taker-Wyatt program, but it's not as if he was choke-slammed to oblivion by either Brother of Destruction......so he could be used as a monster again.

But while it's fine for us fans to believe that.....does WWE?

I think they have limited Braun because his talent level is limited. Just because they rushed him up to the main roster doesn't mean he has a clue what he's doing. Right now he's just the WWE's version of ECW's 911.

I think they're still protecting him. They're obviously saving him for something big. He didn't fight at Survivor Series and it must mean something for him, they chose Harper to take the fall.

I can see him becoming a big deal once ROTW starts. He's probably the only Wyatt family member since Bray to have that allure about him that whenever he wrestles it's a big deal.

But again I think they're saving him for ROTW.

Yeah, I think they're protecting him, although I wonder why at this point. The Wyatt Family has lost too much credibility and Bray in particularly no longer seems dangerous. The company has no idea what to do with Strowman though, so he feels irrelevant even though he has been booked as a dominant monster.

Rusev had a few periods during his 'dominant monster heel' phase where it just seemed like WWE had no idea what to do next for him.

Here's the thing: Nobody cares about Braun Strowman. Whether he's wrestling or just standing there, NOBODY CARES. Even the dumbest casual fans aren't buying into Braun Strowman, let alone anyone with a brain cell. He will never draw one red cent of money, and WWE would be idiotic to give him any sort of meaningful push.

I'm waiting for a real angle/story with Braun Stroman before I can give an honest opinion about his character. They seem to be saving him for something or an angle where he goes on an uncontrollable rampage. The guy made Roman Reigns look like a little child when he swatted him away and locked that strong choke on him.

The guy is an almost perfect blueprint for a Vince wrestler. 6 foot 8 ...9 and what almost 4 hundred ? The guy is absolutely huge human being. I hope he gets a chance to work with the top talents soon.

I don't think it's passed but this is every other new solo act that comes in for the last few years: the writers have fun with them for about two weeks, realize they might have to come up with a story for them, and then dump them for some new shiny toy that doesn't take as much effort. Strowman has a lot of potential, but as soon as he loses, a lot of his shine goes away. The Wyatts were sacrificed to the Undertaker and Kane for Survivor Series and as usual, it's time to rebuild them. Strowman is part of that group and will be rebuilt, likely to lose yet again in a bit match.

He is just too green for anything even remotly serious. Aside of his background as good competitor at various strongman competition Samwell Tarly of WWE(GoT reference and meme I saw :p ) just begin his training 2 years ago. There is a reason why he is enforcer for Wyatt family and that is that he looks big and intimidating and just comes in ring when its needed for couple of spots. There is a reason why is he being protected and has nothing to do with the push. More likely has with his lack of experience to do anything more serious in ring. So far he has a role to look intimidating and thats it. When he improves then maybe they give him something more serious. Though I am not really sure that WWE would have him on some big Championship push, having big guys like Mark Henry and Big Show has its advantages. So he could have good future within WWE just on his big looks alone. We would just have to wait and see how they will handle him in future.

Isn't Strauman the guy who wasn't good enough in the ring to debut on NXT TV, but instead they just hot-shotted him onto the main roster? The man is incredibly green, and would be nowhere near the main shows if he wasn't so huge.

He looks the part, thats for sure but we need to know more about him. What's his relationship with Bray Wyatt? How did he come to be a member of the Wyatt Family etc. It is incredibly frustrating that The Wyatts haven't been the dominant force I expected them to be, the gimmick is awesome but has been booked so badly.

I think right now the best thing for Braun is to work a bodyguard gimmick until his in-ring skills improve. He's got the physical attributes needed to be a big player, but until he's ready he shouldn't be exposed.
