The rumors say that after Harbaugh, the next guy on the list is Brady Hoke, another guy with ties to U of M. His coaching record isn't stellar, but he has been limited to coaching in non-AQ conferences, so I don't know how to gauge his success. Another name I would like to see in the mix is Jim Herrmann. He probably will never be considered...but all Herrmann did while the defensive coordinator at Michigan was guide them to the best statistical defensive season in NCAA history in 97, the year they won the national championship. The biggest issue with this team is defense, and Jim Herrmann knows how to build a national championship caliber defense.
However, if its not Harbaugh, there are only 3 things I want to hear in his introductory press conference.
1. I am not going to mess with Denard Robinson, other than to make him better at what he does. He is a unique player, and I would be a fool to try to turn him into something he isn't.
2. I understand the problems the defense and special teams had, and I believe that the first step in fixing that is recruiting. The last guy didn't do so well recruiting anything but offensive players, I think you need to recruit at every position.
3. I am only going to use 5 defensive backs when it makes strategic sense in a game, not as my base defense. This is the Big Ten, the only way to compete in this league is in either a 3-4 or 4-3 base defense.
As long as I see those things, I will be happy. New coach needs to address the bad without fucking with the good.
