Dooooooooooooom
I absolutely loved Mass Effect, it's one of my favorite games and I fell in love with it's universe and story almost instantaneously. Obviously the sequel was inevitable and was already being developed as I just finished the original. However with the recent economy I haven't had much money to be throwing around $60 on games (the last game I bought was SVR2010 last year) so I only recently purchased it. I waited almost 2 years to play this game. I was a bit disappointed by it though.
Now let me say it was a good game with a good plot. And maybe I over hyped it in my head. But it just didn't immerse me into it's universe as much as the first one. I don't know if it was the characters or the story but I couldn't involve myself into the story as much as I did the first one. I think it may have been the supporting characters weren't as interesting or as likable as the ones from the first one (except Thane he was fucking badass, and Mordin was pretty funny).
This game also felt shorter than the first one. Even though it took me about the same time to finish it as the first one. It felt like I was just running through it most of the time. Even the final scenario felt rushed and unrewarding. I felt like that's what I've spent 18 hours trying to get to?
I liked the customizable color for the armor but I thought the weapon and armor system from the first one was easier to use and just better overall. And scanning planets to get resources is so boring, I didn't get all the upgrades.
Now again It was a good game, just not what I was hoping it to be. Hopefully the third one won't disappoint.
What did you guys who played it think?
