So how long before Barnes is fired?

John Barnes has told Sky Sports News that he will be named as the new Tranmere Rovers manager on Monday.

Former Celtic boss Barnes emerged as the front-runner for the Prenton Park post at the start of the week when he was replaced as Jamaica chief.

The former England international only spent seven months at the helm of the Reggae Boyz, during which time he was unable to secure World Cup qualification.

But he has now told Sky Sports News that he will be tasked with leading Tranmere's League One campaign in the coming season.

Rovers parted company with Ronnie Moore at the end of last term after he narrowly missed out on a place in the play-offs.

Jason McAteer had also expressed an interest in the vacancy but it now appears that Barnes will be the new man at the helm.

I give it about 3 months. Barnes was a quality player in his day but management wise he is awful. Its been a while since we have seen him so maybe he has picked up some tricks and tips. I doubt that though.

This could end up being bad for Tranmere, they just missed out on the playoffs in League One and gave Leeds a hard time when we played them. I thnk a more experianced manager is needed to give them that push, at the moment though I'm thinking 6 easy points for us next year.

So what do you think about this and how long do you think he will last?

I don't understand why he wants to be a manager. Did his time at Celtic not prove to him that he just wasn't good enough? I know the alternative for him was carrying on his abysmal punditry on channel five so maybe he chose the lesser of two evils. I will give him the whole season purely because Tranmere won't get promoted anyway. WHat they have done is given themselves an outside shot of relegation now but even that shouldn't happen. It will be another season of a whole load of nothing for them just with more media attention due to their gaffer.

Spot on fella. Well, about a week off three months, but great guess. Should have had money on it.

Yep, Barnes lasted a total of three months. His record was 14 games, three wins, one draw, 10 defeats.

He took a team who were comfortably a mid table outfit, and has them 22nd in the League.

He has now failed as Celtic manager, Jamaica manager and Tranmere manager. I think it's time to give up the management gig, Mr. Barnes.

Stick to something you're good at, like presenting. Oh, wait a minute....
