Smackdown vs Raw (not the video game)

Hi everybody, its my first thread, and i was kinda thinking...

Which brand is the better one? - Use whatever features you want to rate both shows.

My opinion is that Smackdown has surpassed Raw!

SD! has the new talented superstars, like Del Rio, Barret, E.Jackson, McIntyre, Ziggler, etc. . .
In my opinion they also have the best storylines, I mean, storylines that neither are "Too Much", neither "Too Little".
They have the best color commentators, Cole and Mathews are better together than Cole with King (Booker T, under evaluation :X)

And SD! always seem a "Shitty RAW!", but right now im enjoying more seing SD than Raw!
And i have to tell you, the openings of SD! are very, very cool (i know, nobody cares but i do xD)

I would have to agree. Smackdown in my opinion is becoming more enjoyable to watch. I mean don't get me wrong, I still think that Monday Night Raw is still very entertaing. But I think Smackdown is growing each week.

Right now? They're pretty much the same.

When I first started watching wrestling Jeff Hardy was feuding with Randy Orton and I felt Raw was by far superior, but then Smackdown came up with La Familia and I started watching ONLY Smackdown, until after No Way Out 2010 when I stopped watching altogether. When I came back, The Nexus had started and Raw was for the win.
Smackdown have got some decent main event talent at last, so it's even.

I grew up watching NWA/JCP in the 80's, so I have always been accustomed to pure "wrestling". Thus, I prefer SD almost everyday over RAW because it's the more "wrestling" style show.

In all honesty I have to go with Raw for a few reasons.

1. It's the show I first started watching. I understand this may not mean a lot to some, but I'm a loyal and Nostalgic guy.

2. IMO, The best superstars are NOT on Smackdown, they are where they belong, on RAW. The higest rated Wrestling show on Television. Cena, Punk, Orton, Miz, Sheamus, Morison. (I purposefully left R-truth out btw). But with the exception of Edge, Taker, Barret, and E. Jackson, all of the relevant talent is on the #1 show.

3. It's LIVE! This is huge. Monday night RAW is always live, except for VERY rare cases. When SD! was live a few weeks ago on a tuesday, u bet ur ass I watched. It makes watching so much better because you DO NOT KNOW what is gonna happen. With Smackdown they can edit mistakes, and worst of all, the results are posted online before it airs. That completely removes any desire for me to watch Smackdown because that's just it, I don't have to WATCH to keep up, I can just read the results on Wednesday during lunch.

All in all, RAW is the superior brand. Sure there is speculation that Vince likes the Blue brand better, but even HE can't seem to find a way to draw. I realize SD! has a huge following, but it's just not quite up to par. I won't argue that RAW needs to step it up because they do. As of August of 2010, it's really been quite a snooze fest. Nexus got old, same with the GM. But yes, all in all, RAW over SD! anyday.

2 very different shows if you ask me!

Raw is more entertainment and Smackdown is more wrestling! I enjoy watching both, Raw has good wrestlers, Smackdown also has some good wrestlers, I have always liked Smackdown! I have been watching it since it started back in 99.. Smackdown is my favourite out of the 2 shows.. But thats just my opinion!

RAW has the bttr storylines. the guest hosts. the special personalities and stuff. but their wrestling matches suck.

smackdown has the bttr wrestlers. and by wrestlers i mean in ring capabilites. edge mysterio ziggler (hate the gimmick but a really good wrestler. to thnk he was a member of the spirit squad) barrett taker del rio (hate him too but awesome wrestler)swagger kingston

overall i thnk raw makes for the more entertaining show although i must say im pretty tired of seeing super cena beat everyone within 5 minutes.

Raw without a shadow of a doubt. I like to be entertained and save my "wrestling fill" for the PPV's. I have no problem with Raw being 70% promos, backstage, skits...if I want a match, I'll watch the PPV's.

Smackdown doesn't have a stronger roster, Raw is superior. Raw gets all the suprise returns (2.21.11 anyone?), gets the guest hosts...its far more entertaining.

Go back 8/9 years ago and Smackdown was the better show...Rock, Hogan, Masked Kane, Kurt Angle, Benoit, Jericho, Lesnar.....it shat all over Raw then! And it did a few laters when Brock, Kurt, Eddie, Benoit were stealing the show while Triple H was fucking that dead manequin.

I will agree with people Raw is bigger! Raw gets the big returns (2.21.11), you have the element of surprise as the show is live, so you never know what's going to happen, where as smack down is tapped you know you don't expect anything big on smack down so raw is bigger.

BUT with that being said, if you prefer watching the show for WRESTLING (i have to admit that is me) then smackdown is the main show for you! During the draft i always find my self hoping that all my favorite mid card guys get drafted to smack down! Because you know they will get more time to show what they can do in the ring! you actually get a lot more in ring action on smack down and a lot less 2 min squash matches that you get on raw.

So i think its safe to say both shows have reasons to watch, and at the moment i would say i am equally enjoying both shows. : )

I think SD! is a much better show given its lack of #1 contenders. They big main eventers on the show are rey, del rio, kane, and edge. Nice job with pushing ziggler to M.E. status. I look for ziggler to recieve the biggest push in 2011.

In the past 2 years, we saw SD! team winning in Bragging Rights, and SD! is becoming the face in my really opinion.
We saw 2 years in a row, superstars from SD! winning the Royal Rumble.
We saw Jack Swagger winning the Money in the Bank at Wrestlemania.

Raw is all about Cena, nothing else matters, and they are starting to bore the hell out of me...
Last week, Nexus members fighting one vs one, AGAIN, with Superstars that is going to be at the EC, and with stupid plans...
I really would enjoyed to see Otunga vs Sheamus in the ring, but they put Mark Henry 'cause something that we dont even saw saying...

And the last time, Sheamus beat Mark Henry withouth any dificulties, and now bam :S

I mean RAW is cool, is still the "WWE Nº1 BRAND", but my point is that SD! is becoming better every week...

I prefere Edge(c) to Miz(c), I prefere Kelly Kelly and Laycool over Melina and Natalya, I prefere Striker and Mathews, than Cole and King, and hell are you forgeting that:

Someone attacked Teddy Long?
Why the hell is Michael Tarver appearing?
What is the destiny of Kelly Kelly and Drew Storyline?
What happened with Cody Rhodes?
It's more unpredictable, c'mon do you honestly know if Edge is gonna win at EC?
No? Well I have 99,9% sure that Miz will, and that Cena is going Wreslemania and this sucks...

Tell me, what storyline does Raw has better than SD!

I like Raw better
A) My favorite wrestler is on it
The Miz, the WWE champion, yes, i tune in to see him every monday. Very entertaining.
B) Better storylines
The New Nexus, The Nexus, very good and interesting stoylines

I watch Smackdown because that is where the superstars are built and given a chance to shine. And now with Edge, The Corre, Drew McItntyre, awesome show as well.

As much as we say it, SD! bring the talent up, and Raw uses the talent.
My choice was SD! cos without it, WWE wouldnt have New starlets like Del Rio, MacIntyre, Kingston (if you still class him). All SD! Needs is King with Booker T, and that would dominate WWE.

i'm a little nostalgic and loyal too. I remember what RAW used to be. Names like Shawn Michaels, Diesel, Razor Ramon, Bret Hart, Lex Luger, Stone Cold, The Rock, Undertaker, Kurt Angle, Triple H, John Cena, Edge, Randy Orton gave us some wrestling moments on RAW that I can't forget.
Specially Stone Cold, in his battle against McMahon, or Kurt with his Milk Wagon, ... just moments that come back into my mind.
Trish Stratus, Chyna, Sable, Stacy Keibler, Debra and her puppies...
And I even miss Bischoff as RAW GM. Sure, time changes. Maybe there is more wrestling on Smackdown now. But those days in the Monday Night Wars... RAW was the show that innovated, being live, bringing the attitude era, and a lot of funny and good moments.
For me, RAW will always be the main brand, despite some years (2007-2009 in my opinion) that became boring to dead.

It has to be Raw...the history, the countless classic moments and the show that won the Monday Night Wars! So many awesome things have happened on Raw over the years...Stone Cold's beer bath, Angle's milk bath, the debut and the second coming of Y2J...all these awesome moments happened on Raw and continue to do so every week. And the fact that it is live and totally unpredictable is the icing on the cake.

get rid of the brand extenstion and both shows will see rating increases. I prefer Raw to Smackdown A. Because its on Monday nights when I dont wanna go out. B. Its live and its RAW.

I have to go with RAW because it is the flagship show. It has been for like 18 years. I like SmackDown, but RAW is RAW. Or maybe RAW is WAR!! lol

Though I do not think SD sucks, I prefer RAW. Monday Night has been THE night to watch wrestling for a long time. RAW should always be the A Show. Even if SmackDown is the A- Show. RAW should always have the best story lines and the majority of Top Guys.

RAW won the Monday Night Wars and should be looked at as the BEST! Because it is.
