Raw or SmackDown

PISTOL PETE
im gonna keep this thread short and simple, Which show do you enjoy watching the most?

In my opinion, Smackdown seems to be the better show to enjoy, Raw gets these explosive storylines, like the cm punk MITB angle, the ''conspiracy'', why did kavin nash attack c punk? and Y2J chris jericho's return. they are all huge and are ready to explode the roof off of raw, and yet it always seems to backfire. Smackdown gets no interesting storylines, and yet they are always able to make good ending in storylines, with 5 STAR MATCHES, with chirstian and randy orton, mark henry and the big show which no one expected it to be as good as it was exellent. and now we are seeing the DB/Show/Henry feud come into play. And not only is the show great, they are also able to create stars, just look at john cena, rey mysterio, dolph ziggler, alberto del rio, christian, and much...much more.

Smackdown always gives us great quality matches, and to me everything raw does now a' days turns out to be a major letdown. And thats why to me, SmackDown is the better of the two brands/shows.

I prefer RAW because it is the live show. Smackdown I already know what is gonna happen by Wednesday morning at the latest because is virtually impossible to avoid spoilers between Tuesday and Friday. I will only watch Smackdown if something really amazing is going to happen.

RAW.

Nowadays, I am so uninterested in the superstars, and I can only count on 1 hand the guys I tune in to watch. And because I do not care about today's wrestlers, the matches don't interest me (and Smackdown is mostly matches).

I watch RAW for the very beginning promo, the 10 o clock promo, and the very ending. I skip all the matches and don't even acknowledge the divas.

You'll ask why I even bother watching, and the reason is because I enjoy the idea of WWE. Scripted out fighting/drama is entertaining and was, even though it's dimmed down almost 100%, I still love the idea and wish it would become great in all aspects again.

Smackdown. Raw lacks the continuity that Smackdown has from week to week therefore the storylines on SD seem to make more sense. I attribute this to Vince's lack of involvement in Smackdown whereas Raw gets rewritten several times and story lines get dropped in the middle of them with no payoff. Because of these rewrites, the story lines and feuds get so convoluted that the show is barely watchable.

When the brands first split I watched Smackdown every Thursday night up until 2006-ish. Never watched RAW back then because Smackdown was so much better. Now I watch RAW every week and Smackdown maybe once a month. So as of now I picked RAW because the show is just better and more entertaining to me.

Raw. While I'll definitely give a bit more credit to Smackdown for the quality of their matches, Raw is generally more entertaining to watch over the course of two hours. It might be due to the availability of spoilers for SD and the amount of free time I've had lately.

in my opinion Smackdown is by far the best show even if we know what's going to happen before it happens it's still a better show Raw just recently became more boring with the return of jerijoke

I prefer Smackdown, even though the star power on the roster has been hurt in the last few months with injuries to Orton/Christian/Henry and the overall misuse of Sheamus. I like to watch good wrestling matches that are given enough time and smackdown gives me that every week. I just don't get that with raw every week, they tend to either rush through matches sometimes or overdo it when it comes to promos. I can understand the need to build storylines quicker these days due to a more congested ppv schedule so i watch smackdown for good wrestling and raw if i want promos, i simply tend to value wrestling more.

To those who don't watch smackdown because they know what's going to happen because of spoilers, how about just not clicking on the link for smackdown spoilers every Wednesday. Is your self restraint that low that you can't help yourself?. I got into the habit of reading spoilers for a while and i just found it took away from my overall enjoyment of the show. If you want to read the spoilers every week then fine but don't bitch and moan as if it isn't your fault that you can't wait 2 days until smackdown is on to see what happens.

SmackDown has been the better show 9 out of 10 weeks since the start of the Brand Extension, and that is most likely never going to change.

RAW is the A show for the WWE, there is no doubt about that. They have the bigger stars and they usually start the major storylines on RAW. You can also tell that Smackdown is the B show by the number of lower card guys they have and the number of the up and comers they put on TV, and they rarely continue the main storylines. When was the last time Punk or Cena were on Smackdown?

That said lately Smackdown has been just as good as if not better than RAW. They typically feature more actual wrestling, last week RAW had roughly 1/2 an hour of in ring action, and aside from Aksana and Teddy the promos are usually good.

The only thing I hate is that Smackdown in on Friday night. I usually have plans on Fridays, I rarely have plans on a Monday night

I think that the only reason smackdown gets misinterpreted as the better show is because of our outlandish expectations we get for raw. With raw we always go in expecting big, groundbreaking events to occur, and we are rarely met with that. When we (or I atleast) watch smackdown, I'm not really expecting much, and I usually end up being pleasantly suprised in the end. Does that make smackdown the better show? I don't think so.

Also the fact that smackdown stars have to come onto raw to help further their storylines is a dead givaway as to which show is better/means more.

Overall this past year raw has given us the conspiracy angle. Love it or hate it, it was huge. Cm punks shoot/ rise to stardom. Cena and the rock. The brilliance of dolph ziggler. A tournament for the WWE champioship which was culminated with rey mysterio winning his first WWE championship. (Remember that?)

What did smackdown give us? Randy orton vs christian for 6 months in a row. mark henry inducting people into the hall of pain. And wade barrets less effective version, the barret barage. You be the judge.

But how does that make raw the better show? You said yourself when you watch raw you expect them to deliver but they rarely do. The examples you gave just reinforce that point. The conspiracy angle could have been so big after all the hype they put into it with Johnny ace texting some mysterious person and then the live walk out and what was the payoff? Triple H getting relieved of his duties. Hardly the culmination we all expected was it? You say love it or hate it well im pretty sure everyone hated it.

With Cm Punk we had a guy who promised change and shocked the whole WWE universe with his shoot, sure we got a great match at Mitb but by vengance all the hype and momentum Punk had gathered from the shoot was gone. It could have been so much more and many people expected more from it.

Alberto stated off the year with the world at his feet in the WWE after winning the rumble(as a smackdown wrestler i might add). Yet by the end of the year on raw his RING ANNOUNCER gets a better reaction then him. That's not because he's a bad wrestler or a bad heel it's because he's been terribly booked since he went to raw. Smackdown made him a star and raw ruined him.

WWE fans could be forgiven for forgetting Rey's first WWE title win seeing as he lost it not 2 hours after he won it. Instead of giving Rey any sort of a title reign at all they had him lose before the end of the night making the whole tournament a waste of time.

On smackdown they actually give feuds/storylines time to reach a natural conclusion. Christian vs Orton was voted feud of the year on this forum and despite going on for almost 6 months it never felt old or repetitive. That's something you don't find to often nowadays. Mark Henry went from being a joke in the WWE and many people's picks for the future endeavoured list to one of the best heels of the year.
Raw can be great sometimes but Smackdown delivers every week it's on and that's not something i can say about raw.

Iam gonna have to say Smackdown
Smackdown is more consistent as opposed to Raw. Sure Raw is the A-show, it has major storylines, bigger names, but usually it's a letdown.
Smackdown on the other hand has the better matches, right amount of promos and it actually features young wrestlers who have a bright future. Smackdown is a very good place for stars to be made. Raw on the other hand is hell for mid-carders.

my point is that we have a higher expextation for raw than smackdown. When smackdown delivers, they aren't delivering better than raw. They're just being a little better than mediocre. All of the storylines I named on raw may not have necissarily met our expectations, but they were still better than anything smackdown did.

Did my post get deleted?

I said both shows because I love pro wrestling and I'll watch any brand/promotion any chance I get.

smackdown is so much better with what it has to work with, it's a raw supershow and theres just smackdown, same stars, same matches every week, it gets boring, if vince put a bit of effort into smackdown it was be beter that raw and if vince wants it to get more viewers make it live on tuesdays and people just read spoilers so don't bother to watch

Smackdown is fed scraps and they're making the most out of it. I like Smackdown better for some odd reason. RAW is given so much and sometimes it's still average.

I would probably say Raw because as well as having some great matches, it's also really entertaining! Smackdown also has some brilliant matches but Raw has more of an entertainment value to add to the good matches.

I think it's about even this is what I tune in for:

RAW: SMACKDOWN:
y2j ORTON
cm punk RHODES
ziggler BRYAN
miz/rtruth BARRETT

OVERALL I PREFER SMACKDOWN A THERE IS MORE WRESTLING.

CAN'T STAND TEDDY LONG THINK THEY SHOULD REPLACE HIM
WITH WHO? THE RATED R SUPERSTAR EDGE
