Smackdown: 2nd Top Babyface?

TJWWE

Pre-Show Stalwart
With Randy Orton suspended for 60 days, that just leaves Sheamus as the only babyface in the main event scene.

So my question is:
"Who should be the 2nd top babyface behind Sheamus until Orton returns?"

Gotta be Christian, no one else has the star power of Christian, even though he's holding a midcard title

I see this as a good time to turn The Miz, even though he could be a possible opponent for christian. One way or another, I see him going to smackdown and turning face very soon.

WOW, this makes the roster depth situation in WWE look REALLY bad. There are so few possible midcarders to even challenge for the IC title were Christian to lose it. Usually this time of year WWE starts to pull the trigger on younger guys who need to move up the card. For that to happen you need to migrate some midcarders to the main event, BUT WHO? There's so few viable options.

Christian is the most likely. Granted, he gets by on nostalgia mostly, for his past accomplishments or his relationship with Edge. Putting him in the main event on Smackdown isn't going to light up the world of sports entertainment but it's not a bad idea. Christian can put together good matches and get a decent reaction from the crowd.

Maybe it's time to pull the trigger on a babyface Miz. The guy has done literally nothing since Survivor Series. Other heels are popping up left and right, and it's safe to say that he's lost all the momentum he had left from headlining Wrestlemania 27. If Miz was put into a program with Damien Sandow where the 2 could verbally spar with each other, I think that would go over nicely. It would be a way for Miz to actually get on the side of the crowd, and also show that he can go in the ring with the dominating Sandow.

Brodus Clay would be a nice addition to Smackdown and would make sense in the main event scene. He doesn't have to win titles, but the crowd is invested in his character so heels could gain a lot of heat going against him.

There's always Kane as well. He's not much of a babyface, but when put against heels he definitely gets the support of the crowd. Kane could easily revert back to heel when Orton comes back, or face a heel Orton later for more mileage out of their feud.

I agree that Miz should make the turn. As much as the fans love to hate him, he does need something fresh to help make him relevant again.

Now is the time to push Ryback up the card. Stop with the local jobbers...Really invest...have him destroy someone legit....hell give him a mouthpiece if need be...but he can be a monster face if you let him. His intensity...his look...I really think the kid can do big things. Take Kane outta the Daniel Bryan thing and have him put Ryback over. I would say Mark Henry would be better, but he is out. I know Vince is high on high on him as well. No better time than now...

I don't know if it's a great idea but isn't Sin Cara coming back next week? Hes kid friendly with his flashy moves and when he's not botching he's actually entertaining. Not the move i would make but from a business stand point it makes sense.

When Sincara comes back, it will take a moment for him to get his stock back...if he ever really had it. But right now, Christian is probably taking the spot as the 2nd Top Babyface. Hell, to most people, he is the top. But sadly, the IC belt can only get so far in that department.

Yea could be the best thing that happens to Christian but it all depends on Vince really. If from what i heard is true Vince has hard feelings against Christian for leaving the company and working for TNA so that might hold him back. Plus Sin Cara is HHH pet project and just look at how hard his other pet project was pushed, hell he's the number 1 face on smackdown right now lol.

It's obvious that Vince had hard feelings when Christian came back but I think Edge helped out in this cause. You can say that Christian winning the World Heavyweight the first time was because of Edge but the second time...yea. I think the hard feelings have faded somewhat if not completely. Sincara is a weird case at the moment. The fact that he hasn't adjusted to the WWE style completely and the injury has dropkicked his rep out of the window. HHH has to cross his fingers and hopes that Sincara gets it down. It would be sad to see Sincara never get into his Mistico style.

its going to be christian, sin cara, or miz (if he turns babyface)
I already see a program for each of these men to, christian could feud with cody rhodes (and other miscellaneous title defenses) over the IC title have them trade it for a while till summerslam, then elevate christian again.
I would like to see sin cara feud with DB on smackdown, here you have two amazing athletes who could put on a hell of a feud, and you could start running this for sin caras return to! eventully have the feud last out till summerslam and have them face off in a #1 contenders ladder match, alone or with other guys.
I would REALLY like to see the miz turn babyface since he hasent done anything since TLC, my vote is to have him feud with dolph ziggler (if he goes solo) over who is the WWEs "perfect" preformer, you've got two solid men, both awesome on the mic and in ring, it also shoots both men back into the main event picture and has them relevent again.

I would enjoy seeing the Miz as a babyface. It would be a nice change of pace and it allows him to utilize his heel mic skills and bring forth his comedic skills into it. Maybe, he could go around belittling all of the heels with his "really" face? Back on the subject of who will take the 2nd babyface slot, Christian pretty much has it set if his program with Cody Rhodes picks up.

It should be Christian, he's great as a heel or a face. Sin Cara will always get good responses as well because he's kid friendly with all the 'cool' flips and that.

I would love to see Ryback pushed and destroy someone legit like someone else said in this post earlier. I don't think he even needs a mouthpiece, he should just be that silent guy destroying people. People say he's too much like Goldberg but how many of the kids in the audiences know who Goldberg is.

Now is a great time to showcase the tag titles more on Smackdown. Kofi and R-Truth can easily step up as big babyfaces. Same with Santino, though obviously, none of them will have the same effect a guy like Orton has.

It would have been interesting to see Kofi a la his 2009 feud with Orton in this spot, where I genuinely believe he could have been a no.2 face. I agree with must of what has been said though.

what about zack ryder he's over but the wwe book him shit he's either never on tv or when he is, he loses every week
Zack Ryder is fantastic but sadly, he does not have the credibility or the status that some of the current main-eventers have. I don't believe his losing streak will break anytime soon. We can both hope that it will transition into a MVP like rebuild.

I whole-heartedly agree with this. I think Ryback is the way to go, he's intense, he's believable, and he's the one thing I never fast forward through on SmackDown.

If not Ryback, I would say the next best choice is definitely Christian. I don't think it hurts that he's currently wearing The Intercontinental Title... if anything it's make the belt look better.

Also, I don't know why people are clinging to The Miz so hard. He's incredibly over-rated, completely boring and he looks like a faux-hawk wearing bullfrog with down syndrome. If you were going to turn any heel and give them that spot, Drew McIntyre is the way to go.

I agree with a Miz face turn and I really like Ryback as a strong face. Christian by default is the second biggest face with the IC belt in hand. Why not turn Drew McIntyre face. He really does have good wrestling ability and he's not horrible on the mic. He was a face in FCW when he feuded with Sheamus and did pretty well. Get this man back on TV and relevant again.

Smackdown needs relevant face depth and, honestly, more structured heel depth. Outside of Daniel Bryan and Del Rio, who's a definitive heel on Smackdown? Kane is more of a tweener right now. I like what they're doing with Damien Sandow as a heel. He seems like a cross between Rick Martel and the Genius in the ring. He has good mic skills and can draw heat.

I don't think crowds will get behind Miz as a face. I have a hard time picturing it, honestly. What about turning Cody Rhodes instead? I think he'd work well as a sarcastic face a crowd could get behind. Miz has too much douche factor. People HATE that smirk on his face.

An interesting development is that CM Punk has been showing up on Smackdown quite a bit lately. It made me wonder if they're positioning Punk to eventually take over SD, he'd immediately become its signature star.

It doesn't really matter anymore because of the Supershows. Besides Cena all the other wrestlers work both shows at times.

The seperate brands concept is dead. They should just unify the titles already.

This would have been a great opportunity for Miz to turn face. If he did not have to leave soon to go film a movie then he could turn face and take the second top face spot. As much as many fans dislike he guy, he would bring in more viewers with all of the publicity appearances he does so having him go face would make sense. Somewhere down the line I still see that as a possibility. However, with Orton being gone for the next two months they need someone immediately.

Jericho is gone for 30 days himself. Bryan needs to be kept away from Sheamus for now. Kane is better as a heel. Ryder has not been booked strongly enough. Ryback is not ready yet. Taker is gone for who even knows how long. Sin Cara is an option, although he would have to speak on a permanent basis if he is going to move further up the card. Rhodes needs to stay heel, the same goes for Barrett when he comes back. The only option they have honestly is Christian. He would be a good choice because he has all the skills to be a top guy, he's main evented before, and it will bring more importance to the Intercontinental Championship if it is held by a top guy. Originally they were supposed to be the #2 guy anyhow.

It SHOULD be Christian. Barring that, just fill somebody in until Rey comes back. However, I have this HORRIBLE feeling that they'll just have it be Kane or try to push Cena (who I love) on both shows.
