Randy Orton babyface?

Getting Noticed By Management
I've noticed over the last few weeks of Raw that randy orton is steadily getting bigger and bigger pops from the crowd and its all cheers, it seems like hes a top face on the "brand" not the top heel(on a side not i find it funny how everyone is cheering a guy who insults the product weekly). So the question is should WWE run with this and have orton work as a babyface, or should they continue to push his as a heel ? And if they are going to have him as a babyface does a current face on raw have to turn heel to balance it out? who should it be?

Well if they are having him in this new stable with Priceless and Manu, either they're going to have to keep him heel, or turn the whole team face, which I don't thinks going to happen. So what I think is going to happen is say that they are still crap champions and that they don't deserve the titles, and he can become a face. this could lead to a feud between Orton and this team.

As for who I think they should turn heel, I think they should turn Punk heel and have him face Orton. Maybe say he's still angry about when Orton badmouthed him and said he was a bad champion, and he wants to get revenge, while Orton says it was the truth. They could have a grudge match.

But overall, I don't see Orton turning face, even if he is getting pops. I see him continuing with this new stable against Punk, Kofi and a couple of other guys. I think a turn could work, but they're building up to something else and at this moment, they shouldn't turn him face. But in a little while, why not?

Does no one remember how much Orton sucked as a face when Evolution turned on him? The only benefit he has nowis experience but he is SOOOOO cocky that he would never be accepted as a true babyface.

Orton at best at the moment is a tweener. he is only getting cheered due to being an established star, who is showing up despite being injured. Once he gets back in the ring and nails his first shock RKO, he will start getting booed. Then as fans, we can measure how great he can be as a heel in the industry.

Remember a guy named The Rock? He was an arrogant jerk-off of a heel, and fans started cheering him for it. His attitude didn't change all that much (if at all) when he finallymade the face turn.

I'm aware that the current "plan" is to make Orton the leader of the Priceless team.....but lightening could always strike twice. I think that, if Orton kept his current attitude, maybe tweaked it a little, he could make a pretty decent face, which Raw currently needs right now.

Orton is bland if he goes 100% good guy face. I think if they are going to turn him face, they need to make him keep his attitude and his "edge" but make him team and help the faces. One of Orton's best strenghths thought is that he is soo cocky and ignorant in real life(from reports) that it's really easy and natural to hate him.

Orton works best as a heel. He is the top guy as far as heels are concerned. Not even Edge comes close. Right now they are just teasing us with this to set up the second generation stable. It gives it a little bit more credibility and lasting power if its built up instead of just being thrown together.

Maybe one day when Randy has no where else to turn he can tweak his character and become a very good face. But that day wont happen for a long time.

he i agree with monkey mania. orton is way better as a heel than a face. he is just so good at it. well yeah he is like edge. he can just but so much heat on himself. his cockiness is what gets him the heat.. but the way he taunts in matches and yeah. just makes me laugh

Orton is doing a great job as a heel I think, he's really achieved a lot in the time he's been in WWE. He's not always been great, he has been struggling at times, but he's trying to constantly improve. There is still some way to go for him I think, but he is on the right path.

The thing is, I also don't believe he'd work as a pure face. But - think about this - if he is getting cheers now even though he is a heel and badmouthing each and everyone... this has ATTITUDE written in big red letters all over it. Orton just should keep this arrogant streak - which I suppose is pretty much what he is like in real life too, from what one can know from internet sources and the like - and be somewhere along the lines of a Rock or Austin character. Someone who follows only his own rules, but gets away with it because he is that good (or that cunning/cheap if he is "heel"). He can pull out the RKO and take everyone out out of nowhere, also very much "Stunner" like.

So if people are actually cheering him now, I see two positions for him in the future. One is of course the uber-heel, that he has been portraying now for quite a long time. The other, "face" variant of that would be pretty much a Tweener type of gimmick. Essentially the same cocky attitude he has, however just feuding with heels instead of faces, and of course being not quite so cheap in matches as a true heel would be. And he still could lay people out left and right with RKOs.

Guess it's gonna be quite interesting to see where he goes now with the Generations-Stable or what other plan WWE might have for him.

Orton is reminding me of another former Evolution member, HHH. Back in 2000, and pretty much from 2002 till he turned face, the game has been among the 'coolest' heels around. People would always pop whenever HHH returned, whether it was a brief absence or more long term, and then he would show'em again why we hated him. Although not quite as cocky or arrogant as Orton, HHH shared Ortons demand for respect and belief that he was the best and could sway others to help him stay that way, except instead of demanding more respect, HHH was respect and all had to obey him, that at the time made him way cooler. nowadays we call that "shutup JBL". Orton is walking the line between face and heel well because nowadays everyone loves someone who doesn't take shit from nobody, face or heel. This is all WWE's way to keep us distracted from the impending fraction that Orton will form with Rhodes, DiBiase and Manu. Right now, Orton works best as a heel, we've seen him as a face and he's too bland. And WWE is in need of quality mainevent heels and Orton will be among them for many years to come.
That being said now, Orton wouldn't have to change much to become a credible face. All Orton would need to do is say "I'm tired of you guys" to his fraction, beat them up and boom, face again. He could keep the same attitude he's got as the fans truely love the cool, cocky, arrogant face now over the traditional 'good guy does right thing' face. And in a few years time the fans will eat it up. till then I'm loving Orton as a heel and WWE would be stupid to change their minds now.

I think a face turn for Orton would suck. He just never impressed me as a babyface. Just listen to his voice. That's not the voice of someone who would be crucified rather than crucify, I'll tell ya that. When he first debuted in WWE he seemed completely awkward and out of place. A guy never benefitted as much from a heel turn as Orton did.

I can't really picture Orton as a good babyface and even if he can play the role better now, I would go against it happening. We already have our share of "good guy" main eventers, and there aren't many top heels in Raw that have the skills of Randy Orton. Of course, they could opt for the cool heel character, but WWE seem to really dislike that kind of alignment.

Orton had started out his career in the WWE as a babyface working against Hardcore Holly and Steven Richards. It didn't work then, and it wouldn't work now, and Orton has been a successful heel since. Evolution was another time he was a face, better that time around, but then again, he turned face going with daddy Cowboy Bob and attacking the Undertaker, and has been a hell of a heel since.

I agree from above whereas Orton is becoming the new-age HHH. Granted there is no "Flair" figure in the mix of himself, Priceless, and Manu, but Orton is taking what he learned in Evolution and should be placing himself as the head heel of Priceless and being a third-gen superstar. Orton should play heel until he completely replaces HHH later on in his career and then work face, but for now, just play the part of mentor, and "knowing" what it takes to rise to the top WITH the names of their fathers attached.
