Slipknot

Justin, what did you think of "All Hope Is Gone"

I liked the album as a whole, I wouldn't say it's their best album overall, IMO that honor belongs to Iowa, but I thought All Hope I s Gone was a nice step back into the right direction after Subliminal Verses, I think what alot of people don't take into consideration is that Slipknot is made up of 9 members, and the majority of those 9 members also play in other bands, while others sit in the producers chair for other bands in the studio when Slipknot is on hiatus, so many times when they are writing stuff for new Slipknot songs they are being influenced by the type of music they are playing with, and they don't talk to any of other guys in Slipknot until they all finally get back together to work on a new ablum, that's when all the ideas they have come up with all get thrown on the table, and they need to fit them together like pieces of a tricky puzzle, they need to fit the pieces together to make songs that sound good while at the same time making all 9 members happy, which has got to be a difficult task, I felt that on All Hope is Gone that is exactly what they accomplished

Its up and down to me.

"sulfur" "dead memories" and "snuff' (especially) are some of my favorite songs by them now, but most of the rest of it is just totally uninspiring.

Snuff especially has absolutely fucking amazing instruments and sound, and very moving lyrics. Love it.

Whats your favorite song from the album??

Oh shit, TBH I'm absolutely horriable with song titles, and I haven't listened to the album in awhile, but off the top on my head I'd prolly have to say Dead Memories and I beleive Gematria (The Killing Name) is the other, I remember there is one song that has a lyric that goes something like "Give me minute I'll change your mind, Give me a bullet I'll change your life" I fucking love that lyric and I think it's from Gematria, awesome song

to be honest, it was tough for me to get into Gematria, although it had good artistic value. the first 1 minute or so is just so...weird...

and Snuff is the slow one, the last track I think

"Bury all your secrets in my skin, run away with innocence, leave me with your sin. The air around me still feels like a cage"

"My heart is just too dark to care, I cant destory what isnt there, if I could change I hope I never know"

Look it up if im not jogging your memory. My favorite Slipknot song of all the times (as of now)

Hmm, that could be because it's th second song on the CD and has that weird intro track leading into it, Slipknot loves putting weird intro shit at the beginning of their albums, I useally just skip right over it and start the CD on track two, if you do that Gematria starts with with the heavy as fucking in your face instrumental stuff

Ah yes, just listened to it, second to last song, unless you have the extended edition (either way it's track 11) good song, I remember listening to that song when I decided it was time to get rid of the last GF, LOL, slow songs like that have always seemed to to sound a bit out of place to me on a Slipknot album, prolly cause the rest of the songs on the albums are so fast heavy and intense then you get this slow mellow song that sounds IDK deep?, don't get me wrong I like the song and thin it's great, just always felt it sounded out of place, though there really is other place you could put it on the album to avoid that

see thats the thing, is I sorta entered into liking slipknot backwards, as I heard their slow stuff first, and grew to like the fast stuff later.

and personally, for the most part I prefer mellow and deep to other stuff, but thats why SP is so fucking awesome, is they have tons of range. its not just the same redundant shit over and over

Sadly it seems that that is what most metal fans want, they want their favorite bands to play the same shit over and over, and I fuckign hate that, to me bands that do that just end up boring the fuck out of me, Mudvaye would prolly be the most recent band that I have lost interest in simply due to the fact that after The End Of All Things To Come, every fucking album they've put out sounds just like the last, they had to great albums in LD50 and End of All Things, then it seems like they just got lazy when they went in to do Lost and Found, and I havn't even bothered listening to there new album, I've heard the one single and it didn't really stand out so I just passed on the album, with Slipknot every fucking album is different, yet at the same time has that signature Slipknot sound

Yea the new mudvayne is bland with a side order of bland. dont bother.

The Beginning Of The End Of All Things To Come and L.D. 50 are their best...No question.

I like the new album, but it definitely doesn't have that old school Mudvayne sound. It's definitely influenced by Hellyeah, which isn't bad, just different.

But, after seeing them live...Do What You Do is their best song live. Crowd was nuts for Not Falling, Dig, and Nothing To Gein...But, Do What You Do was just louder and heavier live than anything else they played, and they got so into it, that the crowd was into it more than they would've been on their own.

In May I'm finally going to get to see these fuckers live , and not just them but Korn, Clutch, the Used (which I could honestly care less about), All That Remains, and some other band I've never fucking heard of called Dirtfedd, and what makes this all even better is that this show is the day after the KsE, Lacuna Coil, & Chimaira show I'm going to also:headbanger:

Nice one, but come one... The Used are fucking sick, they were my favourite band few years ago, hmmmm my signature give away anything...

Tracks 2,3,4,5,9,12 all struck me as good tunes on the new disc, but their first 2 CD's are chock full of good tunes. The one thing I don't like is some songs sound like Stone Sour instead of Slipknot........

The Used are one of the many bands to come out in the past 10 years that are vastly overrated, personally I am totally indifferent to them, for me they've really done nothing to be considered a great band, they are just decent at best, I honestly wonder if they would have even reached the level of success that they did if their lead singer hadn't fucked Kelly Osbourne

I've covered this in this thread already...

:lmao: Well technically yes, though she has a BF so I imagine her vagina is off limits to everyone but him, but that being said if she were to make the trip out here I would prolly be willing to spring for a ticket for her

Also I have just learned that there are two different type of tickets for this show the standard GA tickets which cost $40 and then they have tickets with "VIP access" for $75, I have no idea WTF "VIP access" gets me though
