Slammy Awards 2016

Will WWE even have a 2016 Slammy Awards show? If they do then which superstar do you think should win Superstar of the Year?

For me it is a toss up between AJ Styles the WWE World Champion and the WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens

It'd have to be AJ Styles, period.

Doesn't matter what KO did, or anyone else.

AJ Styles had probably the best first year in the WWE in recent memory.

Beat John Cena.
Beat John Cena clean in the middle of the ring, at Summerslam.
Beat Chris Jericho twice, or thrice.
Won the WWE championship.
Won the triple threat match.
If it's worth, had two incredibly amazing matches with Roman Reigns.

Had a "phenomenal" year so far.

Logically, Superstar Of The Year goes to AJ Styles easily.

Just try to remember any other wrestler who was main eventing PPVs in WWE just after 4 months of his debut?

Any other guy who's undefeated against John Cena of all people? Even Brock Lesnar has been defeated by John Cena once.

Mic skills are good enough, in-ring skills are phenomenal and what do you want more? Bunch of accomplishments.

He lost to Roman Reigns. Twice. He also lost to James Elsworth. Not once, not twice, but three times. Let that sink in for you, he lost to jobber material three times.

Can see it go to him or Owens. Roman had a good year(minus that welness thing) but think they wont do that again. Rollins was absent and then hold title for couple of seconds before Ambrose cashed in and then he was no1 contender for eternity. If we go by accomplishments, then it might be Styles or Owens.

He also beat John Cena not once, not twice, but three times so that's something that has to be taken into account as well. And besides, it's not as though Styles wasn't protected during his losses to Ellsworth, he couldn't have been protected more if he'd been hogtied and blindfolded.

I don't think there's really been any single guy on the roster that's had such a year that it's not possible for someone else to be considered. Nobody has been so ultra dominant. To be perfectly honest, I won't be at all surprised to see Goldberg win it if he winds up nominated.

I personally hope they skip the Slammy Awards because...well it's probably the single biggest waste of 3 hours during the WWE calendar year. The awards don't particularly matter and are geared more towards pleasing Vince's desire for the "sports entertainment" aspect of things.

I remember reading that there was talk of moving the Slammy Awards to the first quarter of the new year. That's been quite a while, maybe about this same time last year, and I don't believe I've read anything about it. Vince may have changed his mind or maybe there was never anything to it in the first place.

I can see a swerve in Superstar of the year... and it going to Chris Jericho.

What better way to kick off hostilities between the "best buds" than for Jericho to "steal" the honor from KO?

AJ is the logical candidate, but like the last time Jericho won it, he has come out of leftfield, built himself up to the top of the card and MVP of RAW at the moment. The Slammy's are not "serious" awards but often used to further angles, and this would be a great way for him to piss everyone off, including Owens... Remember the heat Owen got for his two Slammy gimmick? Let's face it though, they're almost a lock to give it to Ellsworth...

OMG Moment probably goes to Shane's return or one of his bumps or Goldberg beating Brock.

Tag Team of the Year would be interesting if The Revival won it out of left field as part of their debut... They can do the "hottest free agent" thing off the back of it. There's a lot of scope to do cool things through the Slammys...

I would do 2 separate shows for the Slammys. More superstars could be rewarded and more storylines can be build around that.

RAW : KO (or Y2J if they want to build a feud)
SDLive : AJ Styles (Ambrose had a great year but AJ is phenomenal)

The logical superstar of the year is AJ Styles, but we all know WWE will a fans voting thingy and Roman will win.

Actually I think Roman outweights Styles as far as accomplishments go. Two-time world champ during 2016, main event of Wrestlemania, beat Triple H, Smackdown's future champion and Lesnar and Ambrose in a Triple Threat match.

Sure Styles made a bigger impact, but the numbers don't lie.

If the fans vote it won't be Roman... it could easily end up with Shane in that role if they allowed it, Jericho is more likely too... They're actually better NOT nominating Roman, letting him use it as fuel for his gimmick over the coming year and any heel turn he makes...

Well, this year has been successful for many wrestlers...
Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins all of them have been WWE Word Heavyweight Champion.
Finn Balor debuted to main roster and in his debut night he won fatal four way by pinning Rusev, he beat on of the best competitor Roman Reigns & later defeated Seth Rollins on PPV to become first ever WWE Universal Champion.
K.O. become second and yet longest running WWE Universal Champion, defended his championship many times in different matches, with help of Jericho but still successful many defences...
I am not big fan of AJ Styles but to be honest even such success of guys above this year was AJ Styles year, he accomplished many things in few time!

I think they should do a RAW Superstar of the Year and a Smackdown Live Superstar of the Year.

Smackdown is easily AJ Styles.

RAW, they can have Jericho win it as a shocker and have Owens become jealous of his best friend, and add it to the fuel for their eventual matchup at Wrestlemania.

It should be Charlotte. Undefeated on PPV, basically carried the title for like 90% of the year, put on great matches and great promos all year.

AJ Styles and it's not close.

Beat Cena clean twice. Won the WWE Title. Had great feuds with Reigns, Ambrose, and Jericho.

He's also the face of Smackdown and hasn't had a bad match.

No one else comes close to the year Styles had.

I would give it to AJ, nobody has been more impressive to me this year. But if I'm thinking the way WWE would, I can see them giving it to Ambrose and I as much as I may want to, I can't really argue that decision.

Maybe because I soured on him a bit last year I didn't really notice, but he had a phenomenal year. (You decide if the pun was intended)

He was in the final two at the Royal Rumble, for the first quarter of the year was heavily involved in the World Title picture, he faced Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania (albeit in an underwhelming match). From there he went on to feud with Jericho, then at MITB he won MITB and cashed it on the same night to win the World Title, he beat both other members of The Shield at Battleground, for the majority of his reign was the only World Champion in the company and after dropping it to AJ in September, he remained right in the middle of the title picture until the end of the year.

Not to mention like AJ, he beat Cena clean (granted it was a 10 minute match on Smackdown... I think)

You can argue that he benefited a lot, especially for the first third of the year, from the injury bug that plagued WWE late last year... but regardless, that's one hell of a year.
