Simpsons Reruns

The Brain

King Of The Ring
The Simpsons has been on for 23 years. There have been nearly 500 episodes. It has been on Fox for the entire run and the reruns have only aired on Fox. Reruns air three times a day five days a week. Why is it that every time I turn on a Simpsons rerun it is an episode from the past two years. Why not give me some early episodes?

Probably because the new one's aren't getting very good ratings and they know people love watching it during those previously mentioned time slots so they just replay them to get interest. Regardless I like to think the Simpsons died in 2008/9. The best episodes are basically everything before that.

I'm surprised Fox hasn't allowed another network to air reruns. They let AdultSwim have Family Guy, Futurama, American Dad, and King of the Hill. Old Simpsons and AdultSwim seem like an obvious pairing.

Over here Sky One air basically nothing but reruns, mostly ones from the early days or late 90's. I watched one episode Monday or so, the one where Reverend Lovejoy's daughter and Bart start a relationship of sort. She was an awesome character, should have kept her around a bit more.

They've been on the air for 23 years and they have less than 500 episodes? Thats kind of sad for a program with 2 to 3 episodes airing every month.

And some of the newer episodes aren't bad; at least I don't think so. The past few weeks have been pretty good.

Over here the rights are split so Sky 1 wwill get the first few seasons and the last couple whilst Channel 4 gets all the ones in between.

Not sure the exact seasons but I know channel 4 dont have the full earlier ones. It probably isnt 1 and 2 but something like 4 and 5. Not 100% sure which ones though.

I've seen two episodes thrice this year. I don't like it when the reruns are so close to each other (like a month!) especially episodes that aren't very good.

They reached 500 episodes earlier this season, right on schedule. In the USA, TV seasons are usually 22 episodes, although some seasons had less, some had more. By the time this season finishes, the Simpsons will have had 508 episodes, not counting the shorts featured on the Tracy Ullman show.

They used to air them, I hate most of the reruns they do air. The Simpsons around the early part of the last decade became WAY too political for me, I like the 90's stuff better.

I thought seasons were longer; that means they were only producing on average 2 new episodes a month. I'm used to watching shows with new material being churned out on a weekly basis.

The tv season usually runs from around late September until sometime in May. There are no new episodes during the summer.

For a few years the WB (or it may have been UPN by this time) ran reruns of all the early Simpsons episodes, so it has been shown in syndication on another network at least once that I know of.
