Should Shawn Michaels have had more World Championships?

is it just me or does anybody else think Shawn Michaels should have had more than 4 World Title reigns. It seems like an insult that probably one of the greatest wrestlers of all time only had 4 title reigns, while other wrestlers not in his league had more. To me it just seems a bir unfair.

truthfully, i can see why the wwe didnt allow sean to have anymore runs then he had, i did wish that they let him have a long reign with the world title but that didnt happen, i think it all has to do with age, and at this point in shawns career does he really need to get himself over with a title, err no, if anything i would love him to hold the ecw world title just once, he could be used to get the next ecw champ over or the current one, man seeing him in feuds with cm punk or john morrison would make my day..

It's just the way creative turned out when HBK was at his peak.

I don't think it does or should reflect on his legacy overall.

I don't think anyone would consider Sid Vicious superior to Bob Backlund or Pedro Morales because he held the WWE Title more than times they did.

Just as I don't think anyone would frown on or think less of HBK if it turned out that a guy like Batista or Cena ended up with more title reigns.

It's just the way creative turned out at the time, let's not look too much into it.

Shawn Michaels is always three things, the icon, the show stopper and the main event, i think that the creative knew that Shawn could carry the company without the belt, he is more over then the wwe title and can always be used to further storylines like he did with the whole benoit rumble situation and put on a hell of a three way at mania

its a shame he didnt get more titles are even a longer reign wud have been great. hopefully he will return soon for one more go at it.

he will, he just needs time to heal from injuries and such so i hope he gets back on his feet and gets himself together so that he can come back and churn more classics, maybe if he pulls through one more year of full time schedule hell get another push for the top title.

But even if he doesn't, it won't affect his legacy one way or the other.

If he never wrestled again, his place among the all-time greats and his legacy would be secure.

You can Look at Shawn Michaels though and see that his accomplishments are far superior than some of the superstars that have had more heavy weight title reigns. Shawn Michaels never needed Heavyweight gold to be over with the crowd, his ability is the reason he is over with the crowd. Michaels never needed heavyweight gold to become the Show Stoppa. He gave his all every night and every main event he has ever competed in. Shawn had the ability to carry the company with out gold. Shawn has had so many accomplishments like i believe 7 MOTY's according to PWI. The man was able to carry Vince Mcmahon to a MOTY, and thats an accomplishment in its own, and not many superstars could do that today or the yesteryears of WWE. 4 title reigns doesnt seem because you got to take in the fact in which ERA was he at the height of his success, I believe it was the Attitude ERA, which had the likes of Austin, The Rock, Mick Foley and so on. Just because HHH has had i believe 10 title reigns doesnt mean he is better, its just the way they are booked so HHH has the upper hand on that one. So four titles reigns to me now doesnt seem a bit small because you can surpass that and see all the other accomplishments he has.

first of all he's not over-rated in the least bit and second of all he's put on some of the greatest matches of all time. i dont believe anyone has ever had more matches of the year than hbk. in any case, you have to consider how long hbk was out of wrestling, because during that time he may have held the title a few more times. similar to the undertaker, he hasnt had as many title reigns as he deserves but i dont see that taking away from his legacy as one of the best ever in any way. in 97 when he was champ he had one of the greatest title reigns of all time in my opinion. his matches were amazing to watch.

Shawn Michaels is over-rated and is boring to watch.

hmmmmm if I were going to criticize shawn micheals I would defenitely not say that hes boring to watch. or spam for that matter. If I were going to criticize Shawn Micheals I would say that hes a blatant self promoter but to say hes boring in the ring actually made me laugh. Shawn Micheals goes out every night
and tears the house down because hes the showstoppa! you know your getting an exciting match from him every time he steps in the ring and he gives it his all every night and like BRIAN said if he can get a MOTY out of Vince Mcmahon and thats a huge accomplishment.

At this stage in his career, I personally don't see Shawn winning another world title. I could be wrong, but I think he's better suited in the role he currently fills....feuding with the younger guys and helping to elevate their game.

As a few people have said, just because HBK hasn't had that many title runs, that doesn't mean he's any less of a legend. Look at some of the guys currently in the WWE Hall of Fame. About half of them never even held a world title. The fact that Shawn is still able to perform to the same capacity as he did about a decade ago, says alot more about Shawn than 11+ world titles ever will *cough*TripleH*cough*

HBK said in his book that it's not the title that make the wrestler, it's the wrestler that makes the title. I remember back in the good ol' days when becoming champion meant alot. It solidified you as one of the best in the business. Nowadays they give the IC belt to the new comer. If they feel they can't push the wrestler towards the title, they just force it on the fans to accept the new champ.

Though HBK deserved more title reigns and longer reigns at that, he does not need it. Call him a self promoter or an arrongant individual, but man, he talked the talked and walked the walk. HBK did not need catch phrases, HBK did not need to sell a lot of shirts, all he needed was his skills.

He's turned down miltiple title reigns since his return, so he probably isn't that bothered. He was asked if he wanted the title when Batista injured himself in Jan 06, and when Taker injured himself. He goes to church on a Tuesday so that's why he wont work Smackdonw.

At this stage of his career a world title wouldn't mean anything anyway. He's respected without them. And who wants loads of title reigns like Flair & HHH? What percentage of them have actually meant anything?

i can see everybodys point. im not sayin Shawn needs a title to get him over. Hes probably of only a couple of wrestlers who doesnt need a title to get over. But, I dont see how you can justify Cena keeping the title for a year(yawn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), and having Michaels job at WrestleMania. The man hasnt had a meaningful title reign in the best part of 10 years. 2002 doesnt really count because it was only a month, and he lost it straight back to Triple H. I just think Michaels deserves another run at the top when he comes back.

But, I dont see how you can justify Cena keeping the title for a year(yawn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), and having Michaels job at WrestleMania.

Because Cena requires throngs of children cheering for the guy with the spinner belt to STAY over.

Michaels had a title 6 years ago and is STILL over.

Absolutely! he deserves to be closer to Ric Flair's mark actually. But, who knows how much longer he will decide to keep wrestling. At the very least, he deserves one more lengthy run.

While were on the subject, so does The Nature Boy! He is the man!

Absolutely correct. Remember that HBK was the top heel in the company at the time of his injury. If he hadnt broken his back in the prime of his career he would have have quite a few more title reigns under his belt. Looking at who held the world title in the 4 years or so while he was away, was the leader of the greatest heel faction in WWE, and keeping in mind that he was most likely going to keep fueding wit Austin over the title, it safe to say that many wrestlers wouldn't have any world title reigns. In my opinion, Kane wouldn't have had that one day title reign. It's very likely that Mankind never would have made it to a single world title, let alone three. HHH would have been no. 2 to HBK for a lot longer, eliminating his first few world title reigns. Big Show and Kurt angle probably wouldn't have gotten as big of pushes so early in their WWE careers, eliminating each of their first world title reigns. Now, I'm in no way saying that all of these title reigns would have gone to HBK, but if i were to make an educated guess as to how many more world title reigns HBK would have had, I would guess about 6-8 more world title reigns to his name. Of course this is also assumong that his extra time in the spotlight would have taken the limelight from, at least a little while longer, The Rock, HHH, Mankind, Kane, Big Show, and Kurt Angle. this is all strictly IMO however.

shawn shouldve had more title reigns. he saved the WWE when they were dealing with all of the roid head wrestlers. he was there when bret left for wcw. he mentored HHH. HBK is the greatest performer of all time to me. at least top 5 with flair, hogan, hhh, and sting. and the rock. and kurt angle and chris jericho, well you guys get the point HBK is the man, he put in the work he dedicated himself to this business, he overcame a serious back injury....HBK deserves another title run

I don't want to be bias, due to HBK being my personal favorite, so I wont go with 'more reigns', I just wish he would have had some more meaningful ones. They say capturing the gold is the easy part, its keeping it that is hard. His title victories have been great, the elimination chamber was quite a surprise to me, but his losses have had less than spectacular dignity.

I really hope he gets another 'strap put on him', but what I hope even more is that the way he gets it and the way he'll lose it are compliments to his career.

Hopefully, Shawn will return and put in another few years. The fact of it of him holding the WWE Title again, is very slim. The WWE should have booked him to win at WM 23, but instead they keep making Cena the top man. Right now, he's better off just feuding with younger wrestlers. I can't remember a time when he held the title. And because he is about, maybe 42? You won't see him go competing in Ladder matches or HIAC because he might get hurt and never come back again. If he plans to retire in a couple of years, what a way to retire than to hold the WWE Title one last time. So yes, I do think he deserves another run, I mean, why not? Better than seeing Cena, Umaga, or even HHH hold it again. I'll be happy if he walks away from WM 24 as WWE Champ. Unless WWE goes all gay and books him another gay little match.

Yes, but not at this point. His back is bad and his knees are bad. He's gettin old. We dont need another Flair. He realizes its time to slow down, again.

HBK wont do another ladder match or HIAC or match like that???? Are you kidding this is the showstopper the man who loves to steal the show. Would he do something like that for RAW...probably not. But you give it a main event of a pay-per-view or a match at one of the big 4(RR, Mania, Summerslam, Survivor Series) he will do it. One thing i think HBK definitely is is a guy who loves to entertain and when the event is over i think he thrives on the first thought a fan has is that "i cant believe HBK did that" or "hbk was amazing". Given the right situation the man will do it. Look at his return match against HHH that was brutal and he really didnt know how he was gonna hold up. I guarantee we will see The Showstopper do atleast 1 more crazy intense match.

whats wrong with u? HBK COMPETED IN A NO HOLDS BARRED AT WRESTLEMANIA 22 AND IF IM NT MISTAKEN JUMPD OFF A LADDER TO SQUASH VINNIE MACK, EVN THOU IT WS A YEAR AGO HBK STILL SEEMS LIKE HIS HEALTHY ENOUGH TO DO IT. I WOULD LOVE NOTHING MORE THAN TO SEE HBK GT ANOTHER SHOT FOR THE TITLE

Shawn Michaels & John Cena went a solid hour on Monday Night Raw, earlier this year in April. Call him old & slow, again, after watching that match. You can't find a handful of talent on the roster now, that can go out there & do what Shawn Michaels at his age now, can still go out & do.

Ric Flair in his prime, couldn't hold a candle to Shawn Michaels. I'll give Flair credit, he was great in his prime, don't get that wrong.. but Shawn Michaels is elite, one of a kind, & will never again be duplicated. And to make the statement that Flair & Shawn, to this day, wrestle the same way. (slow & old) Thats a very bad judgment call on someone who probably isn't an H.B.K., or Ric Flair fan.. & just wants to mouth off at talent.
