Should Dusty Rhodes replace Cole on commentary?

No, Michael Cole is being pushed since he came on to Raw, as the next top commentator..and he is okay as commentator..I think sometimes he annoys me, but Dusty has done enough work in pro wreslting, let him take it easy down in FCW, plus he can't be bothered travelling, so it wouldn't happen...

No, I don't think Cole is to bad he's not the best, but I think Lawler is the real problem. It wouldn't work anyway Dusty is a color commentator as Cole is a play by play guy. I wouldn't want to see Dusty replace King either. I like Dusty but I never cared for him as a commentator.

I could kiss you for the respect you show The American Dream. However, I don't think he would do any better than Cole, and in fact may end up being a bit worse. If he were to replace anyone at that table, I would swap him out with King.

WWE has made it pretty clear that they wish to stay away from a lot of the stereotypes of old school wrasslin', and that includes southern sounding announcers. Dusty is solid fucking gold on the stick, but he's no JR, and if WWE isn't hot to have JR back in the seat again there's really no fucking way they'd ever give it to Dusty. This is why he's in FCW (that, and his history in that area).

It's a silly idea and you're probably better off forgetting you ever had it, but I loved visualizing it for a little while. Take that how you weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel.

No, no a thousand times no.

I say this for a few reasons. Firstly because Dusty is an absolutely terrible commentator. he borders on uninteligable at times and is incredably annoying, both because of that and the fact that he says things like 'Belly welly'. The whole 'I can't stand to listen to you' thing is bad when commentary is vital to telling the story in the ring.

Secondly because Cole's job is completely different from Dusty's in FCW. Cole is the play by play guy. That means he tells the story while the colour guy (Dusty in FCW) talks around that and adds additional information (like "THIS MOVE WILL MAKE YOUR KIDNEYS EXPLODE") and adds to the appeal. JR Sucked when he made the transition from play-by-play to colour and I suspect that Dusty would too (not that he doesn't now).

Thirdly because Cole can actually do his job pretty well. He's not great by any stretch of the imagination but when he's in 'Anti-Internet' mode he's fairly entertaining, and was undisputably NXT's top heel in the first season.

So yeah, no to Dusty on every imaginable level.

Ha!

Michael Cole has one major thing on Dusty Rhodes, something that will never change... you can understand what the fuck he is saying.

While Dusty Rhodes is fun, he's just a novelty. He says some weird and wild stuff, sure, but you can't understand the other 80% of what he's saying. He probably has some good insight into the match and might be able to help put angles over, but it's pretty hard to do that when every other word sounds like gibberish.

Now I may be exaggerating here, but I don't think anybody wants to struggle to understand what Dusty is saying when we can just as easily listen to Cole.

Furthermore, COLE IS NOT THAT BAD. He is not JR, true, but he's not as terrible as many make him out to be. He is not as knowledgeable in many departments that JR excels in, but JR is a rare gift. Cole does well to put angles over, he seems like he is having a genuinely good time calling the matches, and he doesn't mess up too much. Could we do without the vintage? Sure, but is it so bad to hear him say it every now and then?

So if you go collecting signatures to get Dusty behind the announce table, you can count me out on that one.

However, I know one thing for sure and that is that Michael Cole is not the new GM of Raw. To me, it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. They have had him at the table when emails come through and unless he is shooting them directly at the laptop with the power of his mind, I don’t see that working in any sort of way.

OK you do realize this is fake right? He isn't really getting an email at that exact moment. I have never heard an email notification as loud as that one. It is very possible they could say that he had it set up on a timer or anything of that nature. No I don't believe that he is going to be the GM but if this is your only reason as to why you believe that, you may want to rethink your position.

As to Dusty Rhodes on commentary, not just no, but hell no. I loved Dusty back in the day watching him wrestle and doing his promos but he is not at all understandable a lot of the times. I can just see him starting to commentate and then lose all train of thought and sound like a guy who got his mouth stuck in a blender. I am not a fan of Cole but with all the problems that Lawler has been having recently getting facts right, you have to have someone you can understand at least.

Anyone replacing Cole will be a bonus, the guys completely sucks. The problem as the poster of this thread stated is if he comes off announcing and ends up as GM - that will be even worse.

No dusty Rhodes imo is no where near cole on the mic and he would not be able to connect with the wwe audience which is mainly kids

yeah, i agree with Mizamania there, you're lucky if you can find any kids under the age of 12 who know who the American dream is.. and as much as Cole annoys me, if they can finally make up their mind on making him a Full out heel, then i think he could get better. he plays the heel on NXT, then face on RAW? doesnt make sense, make him a full Heel, and i believe we'd have some good stuff going on from him/King.
