Was it just me or last night did Shaq look like if he had a little bit of training he could actually pull off being a wrestler. He has the size and hes in pretty decent shape for a big guy. And it would give Big Show someone his size who isnt Khali to feud with rather than always having giant vs little guy matches for him.

So could Shaq actually pull off being a wrestler or is too farfetched?

I'd have to say that he could pull off being a wrestler AND it's far fetched. Let's face it... the guy is over 7 feet tall and is in tremedous shape, not to mention the fact that he's still got his youth and plenty of gas left in the tank. But, this is all a moot point. He is a shoe-in for the NBA hall of fame some day and I'm sure he would never even consider changing occupations.

Well, if Shaq is a wrestling fan. He'll have an idea of what the business is about and how to act.

I know its a long shot but a Shaq vs Big Show would draw some attention/money.

I dont think Shaq would sign up for a year or whatever with WWE, but hey, how about a match or two.

People half his size have done it and been successful, why not him.

I think its pretty likely we will see Big Show vs. Shaq somewhere down the line....lets just hope its not at WM26

If wrestling promoters could somehow rationalize in their minds that Mantaur, Giant Gonzales and the Great Khali were good ideas in the ring, Shaq would blow all of those guys away with proper training and experience. He is athletic, he is huge and for the past ten years he has been training in Mixed martial Arts in his off-seasons. I think it would be incredibly cool to watch Shaq choke a bitch out.

More then likely, though, he will only do a one shot deal with the WWE. But then again, who is to say? Ken Shamrock left the world of Mixed Martial Arts and channelled his notoriety into a lucrative and rather successful run in the WWE. I guess it would be all up to whether or not Shaq would be interested in travelling that much and working the WWE schedule or not. Who knows, time will tell, but I would be very interested to see what he could offer if the situation became a reality.

I have to disagree. I think he was very over-the-top and disrespectful last night on camera. Now, I'm sure he was told to stand up to Jericho and Big Show, and even though some stuff he did was funny (kissing Jericho, playing with his hair, calling Big Show 'fat boy') but some of Shaq's antics made other wrestlers look like complete asses. To me, it was unprofessional and he took advantage of his moment on WWE programming.

I know its a long shot but a Shaq vs Big Show would draw some attention/money.

Of course it would. But I doubt Shaq has any interest in risking injury for a matchup on TV. Besides, it's a well-known fact that mainstream superstars and the WWE are a recipe for career suicide, in the eyes of the big-wigs of the entertainment industry. Shaq is a rebel, but it's gonna take Vince a whole lot more than Shaq's rebellious attitude to convince his publicist to get him in a ring.

People half his size have done it and been successful, why not him.

And they were half as famous or injuries didn't matter in their careers. But, it would be nice if it happened.

I'm not sure what antics you're speaking of, please clarify. I thought everything Shaq did last night was gold and if he ever decided to leave the millions and millions of dollars he is earning in the NBA, then the WWE would be a great home for him. Great charisma, could definitely learn the ins and outs of the ring, could learn to work the mike. He'd have a decent novel career. That being said, it would never happen. He has too much going for him with the NBA, as someone said he is a future Hall of Famer and doesn't need the money.

And why shouldn't he take advantage of his moment? He's not there to only further things for the WWE. This is supposed to be a symbiotic relationship, not altruistic. Both parties should be getting something out of this and I felt they did. Hell, WWE was mentioned on SportsCenter today and for once, was being put down. Great job Shaq.

I'm sure he was told not to back down, but to act like you're ven invincible against the Big Show? I just think he went too far. If I were Show and Jericho, I'd be a little pissed.

And was the bolded part of your post a typo? Or did ESPN put the WWE down? If so, then that's not a good thing, last time I checked. But, I'm assuming it was a typo.

No offense there Dman or anything but im pretty sure that him interupting them WAS part of the script jus so they could have the choke down with him and big show at the end of the show. Yes it came off as disrespectful but isnt that exactly what a face does though he did what the crowd really wanted to see...someone stand up to and poke fun at Y2J and Big Show. So i dont see what he did wrong in that aspect of it.

Ok, before you start talking out of your ass again with those sarcastic comments, allow me to retort.

I FULLY understand that wrestling is merely sport-oriented, choreographed entertainment. But on Raw last night, I witnessed a slight lack of respect. Besides, there is a difference between acting and over-acting. I think Shaq was a tad over the top at times. But, that's just my opinion and I'm entitled to it.

Good for Floyd Mayweather. But the difference is that he boxes once or twice per year. Shaq has to worry about playing four to five games per week during 1/3 of the year. He also makes a more money than Mayweather. And basketball has surpassed boxing in popularity for the past 10 years, especially with MMA taking a front seat to pugilism in sports.

For me, it's a toss up between Shaq and Ted DiBiase Sr. But, I have to admit that I was terribly entertained last night. So, no matter what I think or what was written or played out on camera, I feel the WWE did their jobs. Entertaining us is all that matters.

It wasn't any worse than the way the Special Guests have been "treating" Jericho over the last few weeks. I don't think he made them look like fools anymore than he was supposed to. He was the face special guest and they were clearly the heels. Had Shaq dominated Big Show in a match or choke slammed him at the end of Raw, I would be in total agreement with you. I think they handled the situation quite well.

I actually thought some of the Jericho/Big Show comments may have been too close to home, but having read what I have about all involved, it was all probably in good fun.

He should take advantage, but not at the expense of the ones who are inviting him into their home to entertain their fans.

And yes, that was a typo. I almost feel I have to concede this point because of that . I guess I didn't feel like he took advantage of the WWE all that much, I'll say he did use his time to plug himself more than any other host to date, but not overly so.

to answer the thread.....
Shaq could absolutely pull off being a WWE performer for a couple of reasons...1) he is athletically gifted, and still in extremely good shape....
2) he has tons and tons of charisma, which is something that the brass looks for in deciding who is going to be taken to the next level....
there is no doubt that Shaw, could be trained, and taught the wrestling game , from both an in ring standpoint, to being able to work a mic properly and build up angles and storylines......which leads me to my next piece.

Ive seen some responses mention how he was disrespectful etc last night and showed up the performers in the ring at the time , during the opening promo....stuff like that is what I am referring to when I say being taught the wrestling game in terms of build up and working an angle...I have no doubt as most of you do, that he was told to show them up etc etc....Im not so sure that he was taken aside and " coached" , for lack of a better term, on the proper etiquette of showing up jericho and big show....hence things like kissing his forehead and stroking his hair....

I also dont think it is so far fetched to think that he may have involvement in the wrestling business...post nba....he is a self professed die hard wwe/wrestling fan and clearly he has shown a penchant for doing different things, like when he actually worked as a sheriff's deputy in florida a couple yrs back.

he would have to devote himself to the business. its a simple matter of whether or not he wants to ever do it....there is absolutely no question at all that he could do it physically, or grasp the mental part of it as well.

dont underestimate the reaction he received last night as a measuring stick he used on himself last night...and dont think that we have seen the last of the Shaq/big show angle either....dont be surprised if he is involved somehow in Summerslam, in whatever tag match show/jericho are in. its not out of the realm of possibility, thats all im saying......

p.s. notice his little attempt to get the cheap heat, with his jab at the D.C. fans , mentioning that LeBron said hello....he has the heel in him....for those of you who dont know, Cleveland has knocked Washington out of the playoffs the last 3 times the Wizards have been in.

There is no wrong or right in this situation, so I'll ignore that last remark because it's assenine. I have an opinion, I stated it, and if you don't like it or agree with it then don't read it or reply. And I'm perfectly relaxed... I guess you wouldn't know that since you've only posted 14 times on this site and aren't use to my style yet, so maybe you're the one that needs to relax a bit.

Anyway... I already said that I was thoroughly entertained on Monday. All in all, do I feel Shaq did a good job as host? Absolutely. However, I believe that most of you don't fully understand the art of cutting promos. There are lines you shouldn't cross and things you shouldn't do. But, who knows... every single thing that Shaq did could've been in the script. To me, it just seemed that he got a little too comfortable and caught up in the moment. But it makes no difference now. The ratings were great, the show was funny, and I liked the go-home sequence with Shaq taking out the Big Show.
