SERIOUSLY?!?!?!!?

i have never watched ROH but i choose to post on this thread.

what happened to Vcoins i wanted to bet all my money on Maryse tonight :/

Wow, you guys are serious.

ROH can't put on more than 10 minutes of great wrestling? LOL, WHAT? We're clearly not watching the same programming.

Can somebody explain to me wtf makes ROH so horrible? I think I might be confused.

Sly already explained why he finds ROH "so horriable"

To me I think some of the fans of ROH tend to do more damage to ROH and put people off than they do good to get people interested in the product, they try to force the product down others throats and make you think it's actually better than what it is, don't get me wrong I like ROH, some of the buisnesses current biggest star have come from ROH, ROH really is nothign more than a minor league, it's a place where wrestlers can go to showcase their talents so that larger companies (WWE & TNA) can see what they have to offer

Bottem line if ROH was the best thing in wrestling than guys like Bryan Danileson, CM Punk, Nigal McGuiness, AJ Styles, and about 90% of TNA's X-Division would never have left the company, because surely ROH would break through and at the very least be just as big as TNA by now

Also, as I've said many times, if wrestling was about how many moves you know, Dean Malenko vs. William Regal would headline every Mania for the last 10 years or so.

WRESTLING IS about how many moves you know, how you execute them, and your in-ring psychology. Sports Entertainment, on the other hand, has more to do with your ability to create a character, give promos, and get people to love or hate you. ROH is Wrestling first, SE second.

That Delirious guy should have the World Title.

Delirious is awesome, though there is one huge problem with a character like his, you can only go so far in a mask, running around like a maniac and speaking jibbirish before you run out of shit for the guy to do with that gimmick, Abyss seems to have the same issues with his character

Websters dictionary says your are WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG

wres·tling
Pronunciation: \ˈres-liŋ, ˈras-; ˈre-səl-iŋ, ˈra-\
Function: noun
Date: before 12th century

: a sport or contest in which two unarmed individuals struggle hand to hand with each attempting to subdue or unbalance the other

I don't see anywhere in that definition where it says anything about know a shit load of moves

Now please stop you are not doing yourself or ROH any favors, if anything you are just putting people off the product and making yourself look ******ed in the process

To date, I've watched one ROH PPV, and own one ROH DVD. I don't remember the name of the PPV, just that the main event was El Generico and Kevin Steen VS Jimmy Jacobs and Tyler Black for the Tag Titles. The DVD I own is one of ROH's best feuds, basically, and contains more of the old guard than the new.

In terms of in-ring ability, I'm immensely impressed with the ROH product. Some people have claimed they're just a bunch of spot-monkeys, but I've already said my piece on that. I liked what I saw, and wanted to see more, but I don't get the channel ROH is on. In terms of mic skills, though, I didn't see anything all that great. Sure, some of the guys were interesting, like Jimmy Jacobs and Delirious, but beyond that, none of them really stood out to me.

Now I'm sure someone will argue that ROH is more about the in-ring product than outside it, and that's fine, but you can't be completely devoid of it and expect it to excel. American wrestling today expects a balance of the two, and that ultimately determines how far a company will go. From what I saw of ROH's best feuds, I liked. They kept things simple. The characters were basic but fleshed out enough to give people reason to like or hate them. The conflicts were simple but well-done. In short, they cut the bullshit, and that's something I've been begging for from both WWE and TNA.

But again, there has to be something there. You can't focus solely on wrestling and expect to compete with WWE and TNA, especially with the whole NXT thing going on and drawing so much attention. The marks have to have a reason to watch. You can't cater to only the smarks and expect to be on national TV every week. Focusing on one niche instead of a broader audience was one of the reasons ECW didn't make it on TV for very long.

And to be blunt, I agree with Justin. A lot of ROH fans are trying to pass off their product as the best ever and incapable of failure, when anyone can tell that that isn't the case. That's why it's so hard for outsiders to see it as anything more than an indy fed with a rabid crowd of fans. Hell, some people still consider ECW to be the same thing, despite the ground-breaking work they did.

Bottom line, enjoy your product, but don't try to make it sound better than it is.

:disappointed:

No, not at all. ROH is VERY much sports entertainment, because it's NOT wrestling. Professional Wrestling and Sports Entertainment are EXACTLY the same thing, no matter the degree to which they try to promote realism. Sports Entertainment is a term coined by the WWE to avoid being governed by state Fighting/Athletic Commissions, since regulations of Fighting Commissions are much more stringent than those who regulate Entertainment.

And besides, ROH DOESN'T promote the concept of realism in its matches. You can turn on the television and find legitimate wrestling everywhere these days, whether it's collegiate, Olympic, or even wrestling in MMA. How often do you see guys do aerial flips and rolls, etc. in legitimate wrestling? You don't. ROH is EVERY bit as much about promoting little realism in its product as the WWE is. Even if Professional Wrestling and Sports Entertainment were two separate entities (which they are not, but we'll assume for a moment they were), ROH would STILL be classified as Sports entertainment, since their product features wholly unrealistic in-ring work.

As for WHY ROH is so terrible? Because their workers don't understand what I just wrote, or at least, they choose to not promote that way. Now, more than ever, Professional Wrestling HAS to promote based upon entertainment value and its storytelling, because if people want to watch REAL fighting, they turn on UFC. ROH is constantly puts on matches that are wholly unbelievable, and try to get by on the fact it's a circus show, with bunches of flips and extremely fast action.

The problem is viewers can't even BEGIN to try and force themselves to think that kind of action could be real. In the WWE, even though everyone knows it's fake, the best workers can draw you in and make you forget for a moment you're not watching a legitimate event. It's just like going to a movie theater...the best movies are the ones where the acting is so good you don't even realize you're just watching a movie. In ROH, you're ALWAYS aware you're watching a fake show.

There's a lot more to it, but this is the spam zone, and I'm tired of writing. That's just a taste, in addition to what I've already said, as to why ROH is not very good.

This guy is gonna be sooooo embarassed when he notices Miz in his sig.

Quick, somebody get the dunce hat.

The IWC would lose about half its talking points if Horny never existed.

True story.
Nah. I'd just talk about the car crashes.
