Sean O'Haire

poppycock

Championship Contender
What actually happend with Sean O'Haire? Was he just not good enough to cut it or was it something that happend backstage/outside wrestling. I know he had some issues with arrests over fighting and hitting his girlfriend/wife or something like that. Did that hinder his climb up the WWE ladder?

I used to enjoy his matches both in WCW and in WWE. I think he had a great look (the "WWE" look) and he was more than able inside the ring. His mic work needed improving but he did produce a couple of ok promos. I thought he would become pretty big over time in the WWE but obviously this never happend. I don't know the full story as to why?

Secondly what are your personal thoughts on Sean O'Haire? Were you a fan of his either in WCW, WWE or both?

You know I often wonder the same thing. I think I've read he had an attitude problem. I like his work in WCW and WWE also and really thought he was going somewhere when Piper was managing him. I often wonder if it was Piper getting fired that got him released. I know he was arrested in Hilton Head, SC a few years back for a bar fight and he has recently been doing MMA. Not sure though. I know from his MMA pics he's gotten a little fat though.

Another Sean O-Haire post.

I think the last time, Sean O'Haire had a majority of this site agreeing that he was one wrestler who could have been a pretty good star.

His gimmick of preaching to do bad things thru justification was very unique, and could have sprouted in many many directions. He could have been this master manipulator who could somehow talk anyone into doing things, or eventually he could have had a cult following (pre-SES), he could have been the most untrustworthy person in the company, but tell people how honest he is. He could have played unstable / pyschotic / genius.

His look was awesome and intimidating. He had the size that gives Vince boners. Oh, I'm sure he was on roids, but by the time they had testing, he would have already had enough recognition that he could have gone clean.

They dropped his "Devil's Advocate" gimmick when Piper got with hm and it killed his momentum. When Piper was let go, I think because of some comments made on HBO Real Sports, Creative all of a sudden 'had nothing for him'. Which led to his release...

He did some MMA but I heard he was in a motorcycle accident a few years back that stalled that career. Could be wrong.

His gimmick before Piper was great, I really wanted to see where it was going. His look was very good. He had decent ring skills, and a Swanton Bomb I felt was better that Jeff Hardy.

Such a shame...

I've always been a fan. He was agile for a man of his size. His Senton Bomb looked impressive. I agree with the above sentiments. His gimmick of "I'm only telling what you already know" was brilliant and should have taken him to the top. I reckon if he'd stayed in WWE he would have been a multiple world champion by now.

In WCW he was really young and I only ever saw him in tag matches but what I saw I was impressed with and I saw he had potential back then.

Last thing I heard was he had a try out match with WWE a few years ago. I've heard nothing else since.

Its been said already here, but I too have wondered what happend to him. When Sean first popped up in WCW, he was a freakin beast. I remember telling myself, that man WILL be WCW Champ somday. Well we all know what went wrong there. When he came to the E, I had my hopes. But I think what happend to him was the same fate that came to the other WCW guys, minus Booker T. A total and complete burial. I really dont remember Sean being in any important matches during his 2 E runs. I could be wrong.

I do however agree that losing Piper cost him allot in his second run. They worked well together, that I remember. But, as time has told before, you align someone who is iconic, when the icon is removed the other goes down hill.

mark jindrak and sean o'haire were the shit in wcw. still to this day my fav tag team, why? becuz they had so much potiential, they moved like cruiser weight eventho they were big guys chalk this up to the wrestling business hosing guys that could have been something

p.s. please make cena turn heel

I did like Sean O'Haire, I would put him around the area of Chuck Palumbo in that he was a big guy and he could perform but he was not main event material and he just plain faded. I personally thought he lost some of his fire when went from WCW to WWE, I will always remember him as a wrestler for his time in WCW because he stood out more there, while his time in WWE was just another big man and got stuck in a spot where he wasn't relevant.

Although my best memory of him would be from Pride 33 when he fought Butterbean, everyone talks about Brock Lesnar for leaving wrestling to become the UFC heavyweight champion, but nobody wants to talk about this.

It sucks that WWE kills off things that wouldve been exceptional.

This gimmick spoke to me, because this gimmick was me. It struck me the first night a vignette ever aired and I awaited the debut anxiously (re-debut whatever) ready to hear more, see more and get behind him.

I was happy to see him live under this gimmick once atleast.

It couldve been so huge, this was one of the cool things that didnt get as big as it couldve gotten, kinda like Deuce & Domino couldve been used better.

I liked him most under this gimmick than any other time of his career.

I dont recall why he was let go, but it was stupid no matter what happened.
