Samuel Shaw — A Man Reborn

It's Damn Real!

The undisputed, undefeated TNA &
What a transition, too! Not that surfer-boy with really bad tattoos left any kind of resonating impact (no pun intended), but this obsessive, psycho Dexter-like character is just flat out working for him. When you compare it to the incredibly weak echo Sam Shaw created, Samuel is a massive improvement with so much more range. At least on paper…

Which leads me to the one concern I have with him. He’s affixed himself to Christy Hemme, who is not only a female, but a non-roster one at that. She’s not associated with another wrestler on-screen, so where’s the payoff in this? At some point, someone has to come to the aid of Hemme, to actually give him an opportunity at feuding with a wrestler, no? I felt similarly with the Matt Morgan/Hogan feud that TNA tried to get off the ground that was rooted with the same problem. Hogan was never going to wrestle Morgan (at least I don’t think he would), so how do you really advance the story to it’s end?

Who steps in for Christy? Or if no one is necessary, what’s the end-game with Samuel Shaw here?

.I think this whole situation was only to bring Samuel Shaw in and present his new character. As for now he is better then what he was a year ago and he shows great improvement. So in my opinion this will end soon.

That whole business with the shrine and the apartment was a little over the top for me. It's a classic story of an evil kidnapper, distressed damsel and heroic, bullet-eating, brick-shitting hero.

The only problem is that it belongs in the previous century. What it's basically telling us is that women aren't strong enough to be their own saviours and that men have to save them and that's why I don't like it. For example: If James Storm can free her by smashing a bottle over Shaw's head, why can't she do it herself?

Shaws new character is hands down more intresting then his previous one. He was the one gut check winner that I never really thought would go anywhere in TNA. the Guy had a very generic look and while he was ok in ring, many of the other Gut Check contestants winners were far more tallented and showed more Charisma then Sam Shaw ever did. This new Character on the other hand shows signs of real promise. Instead of the Old Shaw who was just on the roster because he won gut check, You now have this creepy stalker Guy with a distinctive look that Creative can now work with. As for where the Storyline should go, I imagine Somebody like Story or Anderson will end up coming to christys aid and will end up feuding with Shaw over the next couple of months before bringing the storyline to a end.

Over the last few months, we’ve learned more and more about Samuel’s artistic endeavors. In the video, he mentioned that this project will involve a question to Christy Hemme. I saw Samuel Shaw's tweets to Christy during GENESIS..

I have to say, I absolutely love this new Samuel Shaw character even though some of it seems a little far fetched and like something out of a movie. When he's on tv, I can't take my eyes off the screen, which is something that hasn't happened for me during episodes of Impact since the early days of Aces and 8's.

I really love this Samuel Shaw/Mr. Anderson feud and I wish it could continue past Lockdown.

Oh, because in THIS century, we always hear about women getting the upper hand on their stalker/harasser without the aid of another man or law enforcement.

You expect Christy Hemme to fight off Shaw and have it be believable? In the real world, she fights him off by hitting him over the head w/ a bottle, which only angers him more and he cuts her throat.

Seriously — this guy is fucking amazing. Easily one of the brightest future performers in the company right now. This feud is wonderfully... well, creepy. I wasn't big on the jacket stip, but the whole sequence after he got Anderson tied up (which was made even better by his bloody nose) was such a wow factor.

I enjoy Shaw, he might be my favorite in TNA atm. He's got a lot of potential that he's already living up to. This feud is really springboarding him. If he continues this, I think he'll be near the top before long.

Hopefully if he does end up with Christy they don't change him too much. Right now he's about as good as it gets

Although Shaw's gimmick is better than his original one I don't think I'd claim he was "a man reborn" or anything other than mediocre. He still shows very little character or charisma for my taste and doesn't talk much. His wrestling is okay but I am not thrilled about his finish. He should have an actual move and not that crappy looking arm chokehold thing. He has a lot of potential to be great but he's not quite there yet.

If you ever get put into that crappy coke hold, you'll find out exactly how effective it really is. It also complements him very well. He's a stalker who chokes out his opponents. They don't get pinned, they don't tap out, they simply get choked out. It's fitting as he shows that he has no remose and he'll choke you out to get what ge wants. Same thing goes for Somoa Joe.

Does Shaw need an impact finisher (no pun intended), but what really work for besides sone sort of kick or ddt/driver move?

Shaw has been built and for the criticism of where does his gimmick eventually go, well who knows until we actually find out. He does need to cut 20 minute promos, all he has to do is say what he needs and wrestle. His push is going good. I will give him time to see how it develops. Just like Iam with ECIII.

The fact they gave him that choke out hold I think plays right into his character well, but I do think having at least one impact finisher, or finisher set-up would certainly help things. Could be something as simple as a snap-DDT, honestly. He doesn't need something elaborate and complex.

I'd like to see something similar to how Joe will use the Muscle Buster and lead it directly into the Coquina Clutch. Obviously the Muscle Buster is much more high impact, but the idea is the same.

It looks crappy the way Shaw applies it which makes the difference between his finish and Samoa Joe's. Joe does it better and to compare those two shows what a mark you are for Shaw.

It is my honest opinion that Shaw's finisher does not suit him. Not at all. I realize he is supposed to be a stalker, which is fine. He pulls that off pretty well. Is he oozing charisma? Hell no. Like I said before, he has potential but isn't quite there yet. I'd like to see a nice unique finish from Shaw and something preferably that isn't a submission. Submission works for guys like Joe and Angle. Shaw, not so much.

I agree Shaw doesn't need to cut 20 minute promos, as no one ever did one that long[assuming you were using that for dramatic effect]. However, Shaw does need to be able to communicate his point to the audience through his speaking. He does a good job with non-verbals and facial reactions. He needs to speak though and learn the craft because telling stories is key to getting over. If Shaw cannot do that, he'll be stuck as a one-dimensional character. I do agree though that both Shaw and EC3 have potential but both need to keep improving and keep doing things to stand out. Because potential can only get ya so far.....

Shaw has been my favourite in TNA since his debut (as this character) which was a shock difference from "Sam"...other than the name, he would be largely un-recognizeable to most.

For me, what is most interesting is who Shaw is going to feud with after Mr Anderson...they teased Hemme falling for him but that didn't quite happen (yet).

Who would you like to see Shaw feud with? My choice would be a returning (face) Bad Influence.
