RUMOR: Magnus Not Re-Signing With TNA?

While doing a meet and greet at the London Film and Comic Con earlier today, Magnus said that he had one year left on his current TNA contract, but he wouldn't be staying beyond that.

Magnus is currently involved in the Bound For Glory Series, and (as of Friday's house show) lies in fifth place on 14 points.

This kind of bums me out. I like Magnus. He had a good look, and I always thought his skills were quite decent, on the mic and in the ring. With Magnus having a year left,

What would you like to see him accomplish before he leaves?

Where do you see him going after he leaves?

He's got a year left on his contract and a lot can change in that period of time so I'm not worrying about that yet. Unless he already knows WWE wants him in a year I find it hard to believe he would make a decision this far in advance unless he was just wanting to leave wrestling altogether.

Ignoring for the fact that this he said she said he said "report" is a shining example of shit-as-shit-gets "journalism" the main page has become renowned for, would I be upset to see Magnus leave? In a sense, yes. He's still quite young, which is what is upsetting about news like this (again, not that I actually believe a word of it), because there's still so much untapped potential there to really uncover. While it's certainly possible/plausible that he could ultimately find that elsewhere, it's also just as likely he doesn't and flames out despite the objections of internet fans who also threw hissy fits over other budding young talents that went on to do a whole truckload of nothing like John Morrison, Shelton Benjamin, Kenny Dykstra, etc.

The way I see it, though, even if he is thinking this (and again and again, I seriously doubt the credibility of this "report"), a year is a long time to a performer. A lot can change between now and then that could change his mind.

So as it stands, I'm here:

And like that, Magnus' official account debunks the entire thing for the farce it is, but hey –*anything for clicks, right WrestleZone?

I heard from a guy who was drunk at a bar who overheard two other drunk guys talking, and one of those guys said he worked for WWE and that he heard from a guy who heard from his friend who was in a meeting with Vince that they totally have interest in Magnus!

Feel free to send that in to the WZ main page, anyone. You can even source me this way I too can live out the dream of being a reader who gets sourced about a story that's complete fuckin' horse shit.

If he does leave I can't blame him. While Vince CRAVES big men, the simple truth is that TNA has a long history of simply not knowing "what to do" with big men (see: Matt Morgan). Even if he doesn't go the WWE route and simply returns to England, I have no doubt he will have a much better place in the company than he currently does in TNA.

Big men? You are talking as if Magnus is a giant. Tall yeah. He's 6'3 around an inch smaller than Bully Ray and an inch taller than someone like Anderson. Matt Morgan is quite a few inches taller. Bit of a difference there.

Off topic-I dont understand why you would use Morgan as an example of TNA supposedly failing with big men when WWE gave him a pretty crap stuttering gimmick when he was being pushed over there. That literally blew everyone away didnt it? No?....Oh. Makes that example pretty redundant.

If Magnus comes back to England he'd be in a better place in the company than he currently has in TNA. What? Living in England i know there are a few small promotions around but i'm pretty sure he wouldnt earn anything like what he is likely to get in TNA, especially as he has made a breakthrough in the company in the past couple of years and is a part of the bound for glory series.

Oh right you are just trying to dig at TNA for the sake of it. Good try

The report was a steaming pile anyway so theres no story here, move along.

Can we come off this already? Even if this were true this isn't for a year. Magnus is one of TNA's young guns at it would be a blow to them IMO if he were to leave. He's got a ton of potential to be a main event player. Now Magnus could be full of shit himself in his response, but I doubt it.

Must be cool still being stuck back in 2008, don't mean to ruin this for you, but Barack Obama will become President in November, don't waste your vote.

Vince McMahon hasn't "craved"(what an odd word to choose, and use in caps) big men in years. This is what most idiots on the Internet were using in their arguments against WWE signing the likes of Punk before he debuted when I started using forums, very rarely does anybody with a singular functioning brain cell bring it to light.

Vince McMahon likes big men, huh? Randy Orton doesn't look that big. Nor does CM Punk, Shawn Michaels wasn't big, Kurt Angle wasn't big, The Rock returned much more muscularly defined but in previous runs wasn't big, CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Chris Jericho, Alberto Del Rio; none of these guys can be characterized as big men, and when WWE use stuff like this on television like Punk did in the feud with Triple H, it makes people who continue referencing the asinine statement that Vince "craves" big men, seem foolish.

In relation to Magnus, he has potential to become something. He has a very good look, he can speak rather well on the microphone, when TNA were doing the tour of England he marketed the brand quite well by himself due to their pride in native sportsmen/entertainers. His contention in the BFG Series to me is an indication TNA have high hopes for him, and if they don't, It'd be another loss.

However, considering the fact WrestleZone's crackpot reporting was once again exposed as flawed journalism, this topic shouldn't even be up for debate. It holds no ground, he already corrected it on Twitter.

Made up story or not, WWE probably do have interest in Magnus and would love to have him if they could get him. Why the fuck wouldn't they? He can work, he can certainly talk, he's got a good look and he seems like a good guy backstage.

As for this story, always was bullshit. This is what happens when people take the main page's "exclusives" seriously.

I'm not going to comment on the actual "report", which seems to be bogus. My personal opinion on Magnus, though? I think Magnus has loads of potential that TNA is, for whatever reason, just not tapping into. Out of everyone on TNA's roster, Magnus is one of a few people that I just DO NOT understand why TNA is dropping the ball with so much. Magnus has the look, the charisma, the mic skills, and even the wrestling ability.. and yet TNA consistently does very little with him besides, it seems, throw him into a tag team. It baffles me to no end!

Time and time again Magnus shows his potential, even most recently as Tag Team champions with Samoa Joe. The fact that guys like Devon and Robbie E. have been the Television champion but not Magnus is ridiculous.

If TNA is going to continually use Magnus as they have over the course of his current run in the company, then I for one would be totally fine with Magnus leaving TNA when his contract expires and trying a run with the WWE. Maybe Magnus will get a chance to reach the potential I feel he has, with all the tools he does have, with the WWE. And if not, he can't used any worse then he has been in TNA.. and he'll be making more money.

Surely you can't complain about how Magnus is beign used right now? He did a great, simple to the point promo. I think he'll actually make the top 4.

Magnus denied this rumor and I'm glad about it. In the past three months I've been impressed with the state of TNA. The booking looks better, people actually have a shot to make a name for themselves in prime time TV and that helps a lot the quality in the business overall.

Magnus should stay in TNA, he has the looks, the in-ring ability and obviously the ability to cut a promo. He's young, he already has a decent Tag Team Title Reign and above else he looks loyal. He worked for TNA's Ring Ka Ring as the face of the show and he did great. He has all the tools to succeed and make a good mark on TNA History, but we need to wait and see how's that going to unfold in the future.
