[RUMOR] Desmond Wolfe's (Nigel McGuinness) In-Ring Career Over - He Has Hepatitis C

Also considering the amount of lawsuits taht TNA has against it already they really can't afford a risk like that.

I knew people were obsessed with their guy getting a push no matter what in the IWC but I think one of the last threads of my faith in humanity unraveled reading this thread.

My dad has Hep C, can't use the same finger nail clippers as him for some reason. He got from a dirty tattoo needle in Germany or something.

Anyway that sucks about Desmond, cause he when he was in TNA he was one of my main reasons for watching. He is a great talent and it's sad to see someone with all the tools get his career possibly cut short.

Also didn't it say he'd get an office job (assuming this is true)? That's a nice thing for TNA do do as they really don't have to do so.

Could give him a job as a manager. He's not likely to start bleeding on the way down to the ring, unless he's developed Ric Flair Syndrome as well.

Because it means blood can be passed from one wrestler to another? Because it means that blood can get on the ring mat, and infect wrestlers later in the show? Unlike HIV, which dies almost instantly once it's exposed to outside error, Hep C can survive for long periods of time outside the body.

Common sence dictates that the ring mat should be changed after a wrestler bleeds anyway, especially if a wrestler has Hep C.

:lmao:

I love it. You're willing to put people's lives in danger just so you can watch one of a thousand wrestlers.

I don't give a fuck about Desmond Wolfe. I haven't watched TNA in over a year, so that's irrelevent. However, if the opponent knows about the condition, agrees to work with him and sensible measures are put in place (Neither wrestler blades, if both wrestlers start bleeding the match is ended with as little contact as possible, if Desmond starts bleeding he goes straight to the medical staff and the canvas is burned if he bleeds on it) it's not a particularly big risk for the tallent or TNA (the wrestler knew about the risks and consented to the match, so he's got very little ground to stand on legally). It's not a sensible thing to let him wrestle with it, I agree. But if TNA wanted him to, they could enable him to.

It's a shame your "pharmacy degree" doesn't imbue you with common sense.

No, I had that beforehand. I just don't think that Hep C is impossible to work around, even if it is stupid to do so.

Wrestling shows never change the mat after a wrestler bleeds ruing a show. They may never use the mat again, but they don't change it until after the show.

Nor will it be allowed.

Whatever...at this point you're just trying to play semantics, which has nothing to do with why Wolfe isn't going to wrestle again.

To those of you who are downplaying the significance of the Hepatitis C that Wolfe may have, let me ask you. If you were a professional wrestler, and as such, were well aware of the fact that bleeding can happen to anyone at anytime, especially in TNA where it appears to be a prerequisite for every show, would you be comfortable wrestling with or against him? Because I sure as hell wouldn't. Just ask the Undertaker how he felt after being in the ring with Bob Orton after finding out he had Hepatitis C. Wrestling against someone with a highly contagious blood borne illness in a business where bleeding happens on a daily basis, sometimes purposefully but sometimes accidentally.

If the reports are accurate, he's done as a wrestler. Maybe as a manager, or an announcer, or something like this, his career continues, but as an active wrestler, it's over. This is not a WWE versus TNA issue, as either company, same end result.

No, I DO know what I'm talking about, that's why you've been getting your ass kicked up and down this thread, and are now running and hiding since you are completely in the wrong. And, I assure you, you are completely in the wrong. The fact that no wrestling company would let HIV infected wrestlers in the ring is EXACTLY my point. But for the same conditions of infection they won't let HIV wrestlers in the ring, they're not going to allow those with Hepatitis C.

Do you remember a few years back, when it was revealed Bob Orton Sr. had Hep C, and bled on the Undertaker? Do you remember how pissed Undertaker was? Have you seen Bob Orton since?

The fact is, a company like TNA is not going to let a guy with Hep C work in the ring. If it was some random indy company, then they probably would, but a business like TNA is not.

You obviously care too much about the internet if you think you can "kick my ass up and down this thread". And if you must know, I was going to bed.

The Network! /conspiracy :icon_razz:

Sean Waltman is still wrestling. He was in the King of Trios show a week or so ago. I don't agree with wrestlers wrestling with Hep C, but as a fan there's nothing I can do other than hope that the guys involved take proper measures and accept the consequences if something does happen. (Or not give the promotion money for the show on principal)

On a side note, I wouldn't be surprised if a Hep C Wrestling League popped up.

I would go to bed too if I was getting my ass kicked up and down on this thread. No worries bro..

Live to fight another day and all that good stuff ;)

You were posting about wrestling (badly) at 4am in the morning and you are going to accuse other people of caring too much about the internet?

I would leave too if I was getting my ass handed to me in a debate. But yes, I obviously care too much about the Internet. Oh, how I long to be as cool as you, to comment erroneously numerous times in a debate on an Internet wrestling forum, and then suggest what a loser the other person is.

If only I were that cool.

Let me try to bring in a new perspective to this..

What? Waltman wrestled three different matches last weekend at CHIKARA's King of Trios.

Thats odd, I remember when he was in TNA he couldn't work everywhere since he had Hep C.. looks like that didn't stop him from wrestling though.

Does Florida have a similiar law to Missouri (see below)? maybe that is why Nigel can't wrestle for TNA since the impact zone is based from Florida?

Thoughts?

was later reported that Waltman had let TNA know days in advance that he was not cleared to wrestle by the Missouri State Commission due to his hepatitis C diagnosis and was not going to be able to attend the event

Waltman was diagnosed with hepatitis C., which led to him having to no-show TNA's Lockdown PPV in St. Louis after the state of Missouri refused to license him to wrestle.
