Round 1, ECW - RVD/Sabu vs. Candido/Earthquake

I almost had to go with Candido and Quake here. If this was anywhere other than ECW then it would ahve been then. Candido can cancel out RVD as he's far more talented than he's given credit for. He was the NWA Champion for awhile, however to be fair so was Sabu and the belt meant nothing at all at that point. Other than that, you're left with Sabu vs. Quake. Like I said, in ECW Sabu wins that. Outside of ECW, the Canadian and Candido move on. However, we're int he land of extreme and the home boys win it, which I would classify as a bit of an upset.
I'm with KB RVD and Sabu know there way around tables and chairs there's a reason ICP says: "Sabu'd your mom right through a table" he is that good at extreme rules. Candido is great but in Extreme rules with Earth quake against Sabu and RVD it's homeboys all the way.
Meh, guess I gotta go with the ECW team here, since this is in ECW. They'll likely almost kill themselves doing it and will need a helluva of drugs afterwards, but they'll still win.
Candido and Earthquake are decent enough, but far from anything special. I hope they get some votes for Tenta's sake, but they really shouldn't move on here as they aren't the better team in this situation.

Is Tenta around right now? I hope not. Because I can't vote for his hairy canuck in this one. RVD and Sabu defined what ECW was actually about, being hardcore. Candido can lace it up in ECW, but not to this level. Earthquake also has the ability to dish it out in the environment, but not like the Suicidal Sabu and the greatest TV champion ever.
Anywhere other than ECW, CandidoQuake win this. But we are in the land of extreme. Sabu and RVD thrive in this environment and they will find away to take Quake out and get the victory over Candido. I really though CandidoQuake would move past round 1, but they didn't get that lucky draw. The ECW originals get the win here.
I completely and thoroughly endorse the team of RVD & Sabu. Yeah, they define what ECW was- ya know, being hardcore. However, They put on some phenomenal matches in their day as a tag team that involved little or no hardcore spots. It certainly works to their advantage to have home field here, but I think they win this match regardless of where it's held and what the rules are. RVD & Sabu work so well together, they don't need chairs and barbwire to win matches.

There's a reason I chose RVD & Sabu as my mod pick for the tournament; they were one of the best teams of the 90s, and one that deserves a lot more love then they get. Candido is stellar as well, and Tenta was very underrated, but even combined I wouldn't put them over RVD & Sabu. There isn't a style they can't beat this team in.

I firmly believe that the Weed Coalition would end up winning against Candido and Tenta in a real matchup. I voted Tenta and Candido though, simply to give them a fighting chance. RVD and Sabu are underrated as tag team wrestlers and would match up with anyone of the tag teams they could go up against. The thing is, chemistry is a big key, and Tenta and Candido are experienced tag team wrestlers that carried each of their tag teams to WWF Tag Team gold, so who's to say that No Gimmicks Needed and Earthquake Shark couldn't win this?

Oh crap... possibly the greatest ECW tag team ever to have cultimated against two of the greatest wrestlers the professional wrestling world has ever seen where they haven't been fully recognised in the E. If this were to take place anywhere other than the Dub Extreme Rules arena, then Candido/Tenta would kick ass. Chris Candido is such an epic wrestler whom is very well versed in all that he ever does alongside Tenta who is arguably the best big man of the business.
However, Sabu & RVD's passion for the old skewl Dub & experience in these extreme rules will outrule any team hands down. Sabu is know to take himself out so the opponent won't win, as seen in the Mysterio/Sabu match for the WHC as a recent example. RVD's fighting style is based around weaponry & can inject a lot of lethal punishment. Although Candido can make his mark, Tenta wouldn't do so good here.

I was really looking forward to voting for ZipQuake, but just can't do it here. Tenta is a legit strongman, and Candido could have been something really special (possibly carrying TNA with AJ right now), but he gets no love for his burial in WWF/E. But, in a tag match, in ECW no less, I have to give it to the original Team Extreme. RVD can beat either of them, and Sabu might not be able to, but he'll probably die trying. I may even vote as if he died, and RVD shows up alone in the next round. This will be a hell of a show...Darkhorse for match of the round in my opinion...
I think outside of ECW this might require thought, but within ECW, it most definitely doesn't. RVD and Sabu are pretty much the epitome of that company, and I expect that they will go far in this region, and probably rightly so. Earthquake will take some taking down, but eventually, I think he would fall to a load of weapons shots.

rvd and sabu, and it's so obvious, it's like trying to fight a shark in the sea - no one will stand any chance while the matches take place in ecw. theyr'e ecw through and through and have a wealth of experience not only together, but in this environment and they pick up an easy win.

Gotta go with RVD and Sabu in an ECW style match. They've been in and around this ring plenty of times and I just can't see them losing here. RVD and Sabu have power, speed and a great use of weapons.

Everyone and there mothers will be voting for the home team here. We are in ECW. Sabu and RVD are ECW. Im not going to sit here and say Team 4:20 is the greatest Team to come out of the Land of Extreme, but they are close. In this case, maybe if Chris was paired up with The Suicide Blonds or Triple Threat or Lance Storm, Candido might have a chance. In this case, maybe if Earthquake was paried up with Typhoon and just used pure size, Earthquake might have a chance. However, taking each out of their respective elements may hurt them in this tournament. Im going with Team E!! C!! W!!
