... You know, when I think of Hercules, The Rock isn't the first actor to come to mind. Neither is Brett Ratner the first director to come to mind.

Can't help but feel this will be another butchering of Greek mythology, especially since it draws on a comic book take.

I can see The Rock as Hercules. Let's be fair Greeks aren't pasty white guys and The Rock has more charisma than the majority of other Hercules prospects.

As for Brett Ratner directing. I liked all the Rush Hour's and Red Dragon, X-Men THe Last Stand was gonna be sub par no matter who directed it.

And it can't be more of a butchering of the myth that Lou Ferrigno's Hercules didn't already do.

Personally I think he's a good B-movie dirctor (Rush Hour 1-3 are some of my favourite buddy cop movies) and Red Dragon is awesome. I will admit I haven't seen anything else he's done besides X-3

You should watch Manhunter by Michael Mann. Very 80s but it has Brian Cox as the original Hannibal Lecter.
