Rise of the Machine Guns

It's Damn Real!

The undisputed, undefeated TNA &
Somewhere out in Hollywood, George Miller has got to be working the phones to Orlanda Florida in an attempt to sign Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin to a movie deal to work as cameos (at least) for Mad Max 4: Fury Road...

But in all seriousness, our boys are back, eh? MCMG/Gen Me has all the right elements and characteristics IMO to develop into a rather long-lasting story arc in TNA's otherwise convoluted tag division right now, and best of all (with exception to 3D/Nasty Boyz), it's actually not a feud over the straps for a change. Yeah, I'd love to see them as TNA World Tag Team Champions too, but I'd much rather see them dominate the division so their eventual run actually means something than have them win the belts just to turn them over to Beer Money, Inc. again 30 days later (come on, like that wouldn't happen?).

It seems like the [pseudo] heel direction of the team is in full-effect, and TNA probably couldn't have chosen a better spotlight opposition than Gen Me, if for nothing else but for the fact that they actually look like 17-year old pretty boys with above average muscle mass for said age group.

The smarks seem to complain at every turn with how mismanaged and misdirected the MCMG are/have become, so it really begs the question as to how you all feel about the current feud with Gen Me, or the potential for a feud with Max & Jeremy Buck?

I like the Gen Me/MCMG feud. Both teams can give you a good, entertaining, fast-paced 10-15 minute match in which you'll be grimacing in pain and on the edge of your seat at the same time. It's the best feud in the Tag Team division right now, IMO. The Nasty Boys are even worse and more sloppy than they were 15 years ago in their prime, and they just don't cut it IMO.

The match is going to be great, but unfortunately I have a feeling I know what's gonig to happen, Generation Me is going over The Guns, AGAIN. MCMG are way, way overdue for a tag title run, they're the most over tag team in TNA (You can make an argument for Beer Money as well though.) I just wish TNA would finally give them the tag title run they've deserved for a long time now.

well TNA did give them the IWGP Tag Titles and they only defended them for about 2 or 3 times and held them for 4 months I believe, but yeah their long over due, but i think Beer Money will win at DX cause Morgan /Hernandez will turn on each other and GM will beat MCMG so itll be Beer Money vs Generation Me for tag titles and Morgan vs Hernandez all at Lockdown

If done right I believe this match can be the show stealer. Sure it will be a giant spotfest, but that is what the X Division is all about. I have always been a big fan of the MCMGs and I am glad they are finally being put back in the spotlight.

I predict MCMG to go over here but I see Generation Me looking very strong and getting a near win.

I also believe that this match can be a show stealer. I would order DX if I didn't know mania was around the corner. I see Generation Bucks as the New Rockers and MCMG as Two Hbk's. This match will more than likley make this PPV if TNA gives it enough time and attentian. Plus the follow up is also important. If these two teams were fetured more promenently the TV rating might accutally increase drastically.

I guess it's been about two months since the last PUSH THE GUNS thread. They're my favourite team and have been since I first saw them, but I've seen far too many threads like this for my liking.

This just smacks of being the latest in a long line of hot potato turns for MCMG. They began as heels, got over as faces, got a huge push, got jobbed, turned heel, joined the Front Line wherein they turned heel and face on an almost weekly basis, helping drive of the Main Event Mafia one week, teaming against their own allies the next. Then as that wound down they became faces again just before Bound for Glory and here we are a few months later and they've turned again.

Every face turn is accompanied by the storyline of "they're getting serious now" and then they just go heel again. It's getting boring quite frankly. They never explained this latest heel turn and it just made no sense to me, but there you go. I also don't get how a team as over as them can be passed off as heels. Their entire in-ring arsenal is a giant "check this hot shit out" fest and crowds couldn't boo that if they tried, so it's a bit fruitless if you ask me.

But for argument's sake let's say that the new management have seen something in them are want to give them a try-out with this latest heel run. It's a good feud because they're aware of each others' movesets and have good chemistry. They'll put on good matches and MCMG will make Generation ME look better than they actually are. The winner of their Ultimate-X match gets the divine privilege of getting squashed by Morgandez, or if they feel like pulling the trigger too early rather than too late for a change, Beer Money. And then we likely end up back at square one, with these two X-Division teams feuding off and on for the better part of 6 months, just like MCMG and Lethal Consequences before. Whenever they're short of a quick X-Division match or a dark match opener or last second PPV bonus match they'll lock up again. They'll be thrown into multi-man X- matches and occasionally get fed to one of the heavyweight teams.

I'd like that to just be my pessimism making me sound bitter, I'd like to be proven wrong and for one or both of these teams to become significant and perhaps even hold tag team gold, I'd like them to take part in compelling storylines for more than 3 weeks at a time. I'd like them to become big stars in the company. But I'd also like Generation ME to be able to back up their hype and they just can't do that, so go figure.

I honestly don't know who will win, I just hope Shelley's injured neck doesn't become worse from such a high-risk match. Either team could conceivably take on Morgandez if they retain over Beer Money, such is the luxury of a face/heel tag team. Hernandez would want to take on all comers, Morgan can act as a heel, so a face or heel set of challengers works equally well. Gen ME got to win clean in their debut, MCMG have beaten them in a 6-man tag but didn't pin them, so my rudimentary knowledge of booking states that they are due a receipt, but then again Gen ME are flavour of the month so they might give them a quick sharp push.

I'd say it all depends on who wins the tag title match. If Morgan turns on Hernandez now and they face each other at Lockdown, then Beer Money get the straps and Gen Me are their first victims. If they choose to continue the slow build of Morgandez then I'd say MCMG win and have a slim chance of taking the belts off them after some miscommunication between the two.

I'm not holding my breath on this. The Guns are a fun team to watch and their match with Generation Me will probably be the best match at the ppv. The use of the Guns in TNA since very early last year has been pretty bad and nothing's happened thus far in 2010 to make me feel that's going to change.

I know that X Division wrestlers in general have gotten a bit more time in the limelight over the past few weeks on iMPACT! but it's going to take more than a few shows to convince me. After all, the X Division is a big part of the Destination X ppv and I wouldn't be surprised at all to see a lot of X Division wrestlers relegated back to MIA status once the ppv is over. I don't think Hulk Hogan is all that wild about guys like the Guns or Generation Me. Here are four guys that are all under 200 lbs and Hogan likes big guys more than smaller ones for the most part. Morgan, Hernandez and Rob Terry are three wrestlers carrying titles and are well over the 250 pound area. Even Doug Williams is somewhere around 240.

I'd like to see the Guns have a more prominent place in TNA and on TNA television, but I don't think they're going to be all that major of a factor in the long run.

MCMG vs. Generation ME has the potential to become a modern day Hardy Boyz vs. Edge & Christian during the TLC era. Alex Shelley is GOLD. If he had a better attitude and was a bigger guy, he'd probably be a world champ somewhere. There's got to be something going on backstage because I cannot imagine why they would not be pushing the Guns. Shelley to me is like an modern early Jericho.

No I'm glad they got to have some time last night. I just hope it lasts.

well TNA did give them the IWGP Tag Titles and they only defended them for about 2 or 3 times and held them for 4 months I believe, but yeah their long over due
Whatever company in Japan gave them the belts not TNA.

I have been a fan of these two since I laid eyes on them. I think they have some of the best promo skills int he X Division and I enjoyt he direction they are heading in. Their promos seem real and intense and that feeling that they are legit pissed off at TNA for letting guys liek Gen Me come in just jump in front of everyone when they are the ones who have been busting their asses. I am not convinced that some of it isn't a shoot. I do think that there is a bit of realism involved. Hopefully The Guns get the win and possibly get the belts. I'd rather have Hernandez & Morgan lose and break up over a lost to the guns than Beer Money
