Rey Mysterio Returns!

Apparently the WWE doesn't think that Rey Mysterio is boring. I wouldn't be surprised if Rey jumps back into the Main Event spotlight, particularly the World Heavyweight Title scene. The majority of the crowd also doesn't seem to think that Rey Mysterio is boring, since his merchandise still sells well after being gone for about a year, and that he got a good pop last night.

damn I wish this guy would get a third wellness violation so I don't have to see him on WWE tv for at least a year. he can always pop up in TNA after his non-compete clause is over and like all former WWE guys, he will get a world title push. this of course is equivalent to getting a little mic time on smackdown before a Ryback beatdown. but at least little Rey will get to wrestle in front of "hundreds" of people

I was really glad to see Rey back last night, it's felt like a decade since we saw him in the ring and it was nice to see him come home. I will admit he's slowed down big time in the past 2 years and he definitely isnt the same high flying beast he used to be but he can still perform and he's a fan favorite so he'll keep putting butts in seats for a while longer.
I was really hoping they could get him in a feud with someone other than Del Rio, we've seen enough of them before and more of them feuding seems like old news. I was really hoping to see him mix it up with someone like Daniel Bryan or The Miz but hopefully we can see some of that soon enough. But he'll make the stuff with Alberto as good as he can and hopefully he can move onto a new opponent after Summerslam.

First night back and we're right back to the same old stale set ups. Rey sissors a guy who falls onto the second rope and gets 619'd ....whoop dee Doo Basel, what does it all mean? Nothing has changed at all. Look, I like Rey but lets do something a little different. PLEASE!!!!

I dont understand why Rey has received so much criticism. He can still compete at a high level and WWE needs faces that can transition from the mid-card to the main event in a moments notice, much like Mysterio can. As for his return, I did enjoy it and I hope that if Del Rio and Mysterio have a feud that its a nice long one, and not just a one month throw-away feud. If Mysterio does get injured again, however, it will probably be best that he retire.

Blah! I hated it, same ol' boring Mysterio. I didn't miss him one bit and wish he would stay gone. His matches are boring. He's not the "highflyer" that he used to be, for obvious reasons but whatever. The only one excited for his return was my 10 year old nephew. :)

Yup...and there are a lot of 10 year old nephews within the WWE fanbase. Rey is more popular and a bigger draw than Cody Rhodes, Daniel Bryan and Dolph Ziggler.

So WWE should utilise him and take advatange of his popularity.

I have no problem with Rey being around, but I wish they'd keep things a little more realistic by not having him constantly humbling much larger wrestlers. It just doesn't look convincing....and the goal is to make it seem so, right? The two images that keep coming to mind are: Rey pinning the shoulders of Batista to the mat.... and Drew McIntyre delivering a clothesline to Rey while on his knees because that was the only way to sell it. Both acts were so visually ridiculous that it defied believability.

Instead of keeping Rey in the heavyweight title picture, can't they let him do his thing against the Justin Gabriels and Heath Slaters of the world? That way, the kiddies can thrill to the same-damn-thing-as-always tactics he uses.....and the company can sell his masks by the truckload.

The problem with Rey Mysterio isn't that he's around, but in how they use him.

I was glad to see Rey back. Over the past 3 and a half or 4 years, even though his knees are possibly being held together with duct tape and bubble gum, he's been the best in-ring performer in the WWE.

I hope this feud with Del Rio is short, because I wanna see Rey and Bryan feuding.

I think the 2 of them could have great chemistry and tear the roof off a building if given the time.

I mean, seeing The Rock vs CM Punk, or Punk vs Lesnar, or Punk vs The Rock etc, but the match I probably wanna see more than anything is Rey vs Bryan.

I was glad to see Rey back and I think he should maybe be used to get a few superstars noticed then maybe retire. Wrestlings taking its effects on his body and he hasn't got long left. Use him to get one or two superstars up there and noticed and then retire him. Maybe then finish him with a sin cara feud.

I was actually impressed for once that WWE didn't advertise a return. Believe it or not, I'm not a really big Mysterio fan. When he's in his element, such as innovating in a cruiserweight/light heavyweight division I think he's great. And I even believe he's good enough to occasionally go for the main titles[World or WWE]. To have him consistently going after bigger opponents is a tad unrealistic. As others have pointed out, Mysterio isn't as great as he used to be because of injuries and such. I was somewhat happy to have him back on the shows, though. WWE are currently short of true stars and Mysterio is a name people know. If WWE are interested in bringing back a cruiserweight division, Mysterio would be set. He could help groom the next generation just by having matches with them and giving them advice. Wrestling has been missing that type of fast paced action from the smaller guys and WWE would do well to bring some of that back.
