Recently I've posted a few topics in the TNA section that ended up getting moved to the trash with rather off-putting snarky comments included upon closing. One was deserved, it was pretty clear trolling, one was kind of petty but I could understand from his perspective, but the most recent was something I thought to be a perfectly good topic for conversational purposes and, yet again, closed with a snarky comment.
I don't take the internet as seriously as some, I'm fortunate to have plenty of distractions in my real life, and I just happen to have a lifelong passion for wrestling that I simply can't escape. But at the same time, I wasn't going to let this go. So I messaged KillJoy with some rather weighty insults about his work as a moderator specifically designed to get under his skin. I expected him to be a young punk kid and that he would get pissed about it, which I would have smiled about and then moved beyond. But that isn't what happened.
Instead, despite my insulting him quite directly, he offered an apology for having bothered me and calmly explained his reasoning. I didn't fully agree but I was impressed at how he handled it. Then I made another topic, one with the kind of statistical bullshit that I know only I care about but post anyway because I find compiling such things relaxing. I just checked my User CP and noticed he gave me 'Rep' for the topic. No comment included, just acknowledging the effort and an unsaid appreciation for trying to make a TNA topic that wasn't all about negativity.
Where many would have taken the bait and gotten upset, KillJoy instead stepped up to the next level and made a positive out of the whole thing. It isn't often that I feel good about anything that happens on a random message board but that did make me feel good. So respect for KillJoy, he definitely deserves it!
