Renee Young.... Diva?

Getting Noticed By Management
I have seen her on TV doing interviews on Raw and Smackdown and she seems to have great timing and facials. I remember right after the Punk/Heyman separation, she did an interview on SD with Heyman. I barely knew who she was but I really wanted to beat up Heyman after. Mostly because of what he said, but in large part also because of her great reactions.

Now I she see does color on Divas matches on NXT. If her commentary she discusses personal issues with other Divas, mostly Summer Rae.. which leads me to wonder, Could she be training to be a wrestler? I have to say out of all the nameless faceless interviewers WWE has had the last few years she sticks out as good looking but also credible. Her commentary on the whole is actually pretty good, she out shadows A-Ry in the 2-3 matches I've seen her do there. She's funny, witty, and throws out really funny innuendo's that are funnier because she's a chick (lol). Maybe she can slide into the Main Event color spot someday, I enjoy her work.

So is she better off staying just a interviewer/commentator of maybe mix it up in the ring?

Renee Young worked on Sportsnet in Canada doing highlight shows. She also worked a wrestling program called Aftermath with ex WWF ref Jimmy Corderos so she has some wrestling knowledge. I can't see her ever being an in ring talent though. She is probably best suited as an interviewer backstage.

Her best bet is to become the official ring announcer for wwe superstars, and then build from that, she's pretty. and she's okay as a interviewer i don't really think that anyone could be a bad interviewer though, the best thing i see in renee is her look's that's all you need when your a diva. her as a diva? why not? im sure they could get her better than them bella's or cameron. heck put her on total diva's.

Heh... you said facials.

Lol.

On the real, she's cute. I'm not mad at her being on my screen. If she was just an interviewer, cool. If she were to become a wrassler, that would mean her in spandex and what not. Me rikey.

She said on Aftermath that she was hired to be a broadcaster and not on the active roster. It's probably a better spot for her anyway because most of the divas just end up getting lost in the shuffle. I could see her doing some photo shoots because she's obviously attractive. I think she's happy with her position right now. She's getting lots of TV time and doesn't have to put herself at risk.

Good lord no. Nobody wants to see this useless piece of crap as a diva. She's annoying as it is as a broadcaster who doesn't even know how to do that well. She should just do porn where she would be somewhat useful at.

I really like her, she is pretty, classy, articulate and seems to have a real interest in the business. The way she sells the promos of the people she interviews is great and she really works well with Heyman, plus her commentary on NXT is good.

However she just turned 29, I think had she been planning to wrestle she'd have started training long before now, however she could play a character role, like an Alexandra York type of character.

I agree she should stay put and she's good in the booth and not to sound sexist, I've never heard a female PBP or Color analyst I've enjoyed in Baseball or Football..

but it seems most non "in ring competitors" end up in a match eventually.... The Fink, Heyman, JR, The Coach, Cole, didn't Lillian even sort of have a match once? maybe not a match but she and Trish stripped the Fink down too his red undies?

I've seen her hosting shows like WWE Vintage Collections (with Gene Okerlund) and WWE Experience; and she can talk really well... which makes me wonder if she is a wrestler or simply an interviewer (like Lauren? in TNA few years ago); if she can wrestle as well, that would be really cool because you can tell that her mic skills are gonna be of a greater level than that of almost every other diva , and that's like winning half the battle right there.

I never thought about it, but it isn't a bad question.

I could see Renee Young perhaps doing some wrestling training and becoming a diva eventually. Hey, the base is so low now, she can only improve the division, and she has personality, which puts her ahead of 90% of the WWE divas.

I think, if they go down this path, they should have her join "Total Divas" first, and maybe build a feud for her with someone on the show. Then she can have her first match against her.

Other roles Renee Young could fill (besides being a backstage interviewer) is ring announcing, commentary and even being a GM (I would rather look at her than the warthog Vickie Guerrero).

She could even be a manager, in the vein of Alexandra York or Tammy Sytch, and build a stable. I would be interested to see what she could do as a heel manager.

She's there because a female presence was needed for the backstage announcer's team. They want someone small to stand next to the wrestlers for contrast; Josh Mathews filled that role pretty well, but Renee fills it even better because of her seeming vulnerability to the behemoths whom she interviews. When Josh would cower before their anger, it looked wimpy.....when Renee gets out of their way, it looks realistic.

That said, I have no idea what her in-ring ambitions might be, but she seems too delicate and looks too much like Natalya-Lite to be a wrestler. Let her keep doing what she's doing. Maybe she'll eventually move to ringside; that's a pretty good destiny for a broadcaster.

Renee Young, formerly Renee Paquette, good canadian girl who was a cohost for years on Sportsnet/the Score's Raw/Smackdown analysis show known as Aftermath. Originally titled Right After Wrestling (RAW, get it?") and cohosted with Arda Ocal and I think it's Mauro Ranallo? He's on the Fight network does a lot of the MMA shows. Eventually he was phased out or left to do pure mma as he always seemed to have a disdain for wrestling and former WWE Ref Jimmy Korderas replaced him as the regular cohost. Arda and Jimmy also cohosted the radio version of the show. There were occassional guest hosts when one of trio was on assignment with a live event or one of their other tasks for the network. Arda Ocal would also eventually leave the program as the Score was purchased by rival Sportsnet and they started interfering and ruining the program, removing it from it's long standing airtime and trying to replace popular segments and a rotating group of poor guest hosts/attempts to replace the trio.

Renee would often mention that one of her favorite wrestlers was Golddust. In fact for one series of the opening credits, they would each mimic various wrestlers, and Renee was shown in full Golddust makeup doing his hiss mouth snap.

Her work on the show and interviews with wrestlers at canadian events and a friendship born of twittering and facebook with Golddust helped bring her to wwe's attention, and they eventually lured her away from the show to work for them.

We are all proud of her making a dream come true, but are sad that it ruined one of the best open air serious wrestling analysis shows on tv. Good for you Renee, and we miss you.
