Redemption - Titus vs. Everest vs. Carmen Bratchny - World Title Unification Match

Real world champion Carmen Bratchny has gone for it since he has come to WZCW. Finally winning a world title he set the challenge...all or nothing. Add in former champion Everest and the World champion Titus in a three way dance (elimination rules) and we are set for a good match!

Deadline for this match is Tuesday 20th April 23:59 EST

*The scene opens outside Silvers Gym. The sky is navy blue and beyond the trees and buildings on the horizon the sun is just starting to rise. There is absolutely no atmosphere in the air, The roads are empty and soulless and the only sound is that of the wind as it occasionally brushes through the leaves of the trees.

As the sun slowly continues to rise a car can be seen coming toward the camera from a distance. The car gets nearer and nearer and the sound of the engine more apparent. From the make, model and colour of the car it is obvious that it is owned by WZCW “Real” World champion Carmen Bratchny. Carmen turns in to the parking lot and stops in a parking space. Carmen turns the engine off, gets out and goes round and opens up the car’s trunk. Carmen then grabs a bag and closes the the trunk again before locking up the car.

Carmen then approaches Silvers Gym and tries to open the front door – It’s locked. Carmen sighes heavily, takes his cell phone from his pocket and begins dialling*

Carmen: Hi Karen it’s me… Where are you?..... 2 minutes?... OK, no problem…. See you then

*Carmen sighes as he places his phone back in his pocket. Carmen begins doing some stretches while he waits for his manager to arrive…

Soon enough another car can be seen from the distance heading towards Silvers Gym. The car (A Pink Audi TT) turns in to the parking lot and parks next to Carmen’s. Karen McKenzie then climbs out of the car. Karen looks up and smiles at Carmen and tosses him the keys to the building before walking round to the back of her car to get something from the trunk.

Carmen lets himself in to the Gym and switches on the lights, Karen follows him in*

Karen: What’s in the bag??

Carmen: Oh nothing really. Some bits I have signed for a charity auction, a change of clothes and Swindle’s Journal

Karen: Oh… Why have you brought the journal?

Carmen: I’ve been reading it for a few weeks now and I’m sure I saw a bit in there about triple threat matches but haven’t found it since, I was supposed to look last night but got caught up at that photo-shoot with TV guide

*Carmen opens the bag and places it on the reception desk. Carmen then walks toward the changing area*

Karen: So then… Ascension… There were some great shots taken of you holding both of those belts at the end of the show

Carmen: I didn’t do it for publicity… It was a warning of what’s to come

Karen: Good… I was about to say... most of those shots were useless anyway… You were wearing a referee’s shirt

Carmen: Well... Wait until after redemption and you can have as many promotional pictures of me hold both belts as you need

*Carmen exits the changing area now wearing a tracksuit*

Karen: Yes… We… We need to talk Redemption

*Carmen climbs on to a treadmill and begins jogging*

Carmen: I’m actually very excited about it… a title unification match, the crowd behind me… I’ve definitely got more of a chance of winning this title shot then I ever did on any other occasion… come to think about it I’ve got more change of winning this match then I had beating Ricky at Kingdom Come… He had the rWo behind him these guys have nothing

Karen: and If we can ensure you are at full potential going in to that match then you’ll barely break a sweat

*A broad grin creeps across Karen’s face as Carmen abruptly stops the treadmill*

Carmen: I hope you are still not thinking about… You better not be thinking about…

*Karen nods*

Carmen: NO… NO…. NO! You cannot and will not make me go there again. Last time I saw people that weren’t there and I nearly quit WZCW because of it

Karen: *Interrupting* But I saved you

Carmen: NO! That’s final!.. Not even your husband was stupid enough to let me go there

Karen: Swindle knew about the dark place?

Carmen: It’s probably in his journal

*Carmen storms across the gym to the journal*

Carmen: Lets see what your husband had to say about The Dark Place

*Carmen opens up the book… he then flicks through the pages…*

Carmen: AH… Here!

*Carmen begins reading…*

Carmen: “”Thursday June 17th 2004 – Today was the worst day I’ve had here. All was going well this morning as me and Bratchny spoke about wrestling… this is the only thing we talk about now… Liger, Kawada, Benoit… wrestling wrestling wrestling. As I said it was all going good until exercise. Carmen was in the yard when one of the lifers made a comment to Bratchny about his kid Bratchny didn’t say anything at first but you could tell he was pissed. Then one of the nonce’s made another comment and then the Russian went psycho beat the guy to a pulp. Smithy from D wing thinks that the nonce will never walk properly again… I’m sure I saw a bone. “”

*Carmen looks up from the book*

Karen: I didn’t hear him mention the Dark Place?!

*Carmen turns a few pages and begins reading*

Carmen: “”Friday July 24th 2004 – Finally! It’s here! Carmen has finally been let out of Solitary. He was very quiet about his time away. I’ve spoken to one of the guards but they said that he just sat in his cell mumbling to himself. The only thing I can get out of him is the words “Dark Place”… strange… very strange””

Karen: I think you’re mis-translating what he is reading… you may have been talking about the solitary cell

*Carmen puts the journal down and heads toward the corner of the room with the TV/DVD player, he then begins searching for a DVD from the shelf*

Karen: Which DVD are you looking for?

Carmen: The video of my promo for WZCW Unscripted… the night I unmasked Titus… ah here it is

*Carmen puts the DVD in to the DVD player*

Carmen: Watch…

*Both Karen & Carmen begin watching the TV screen*

Carmen: I need… I need the dark place

*There is a long pause*

…

Swindle: Th-The dark place?

Carmen: To win I must finally go there and face… err… I not know word

Swindle: your past? Your demons?

Carmen: Redemption

*Carmen pauses the DVD*

Carmen: See!!!

*Karen looks somewhat shocked about seeing her husband alive and well after nearly a year since his stroke which then proceeded to his death*

Karen: Press Play!

Carmen: Huh?

Karen: PRESS PLAY… UN PAUSE IT

*Carmen presses play as the DVD continues*

Swindle: We’ve spoken briefly about this Carmen… you don’t need to go there. We CAN win this match without it

Carmen: I lose at meltdown to worse man… I cannot lose again… I cannot lose belt

Swindle: You won’t lose the belt Carmen… not with me in your corner… not with the stipulation for the match I have… its cast Iron

*Carmen looks at Swindle for a moment. Swindle Smirks at Carmen knowingly*

Swindle: You have to trust me kid… You cannot go to the dark place… its too dangerous… You’ll end up back in prison… Do you trust me?

*There is an awkward pause*

Carmen: I trust you

Swindle: 100%?

Carmen: Yes

*Swindle smiles at the Russian for two reasons firstly he is happy that they have finally put the last few weeks behind them….

And Secondly… Swindle knows all too well what “The Dark Place is…” and what trouble it would bring if Carmen were to ever enter there while under contract with the WZCW*

*Tears stream down Karen’s face as she watches the DVD*

Carmen: Are you ok?

Karen: huh? Umm… Yes… wait, what was that?? Re-wind it!... Red Mask… Red mask is Titus, right?

Carmen: Yes, I unmasked him

*Carmen re-winds the DVD and begins watching again*

Swindle: *Semi Nervously* Now, Now then… Red Mask… I’ve been going over the tapes at the new gym and I’ve noticed a few weaknesses… Firstly he is shorter then you giving you a much longer reach and also he can’t brawl to save his life… This is where you come in kid… you need to brawl, fight and cheat like you’re life depended on it… You will not need to go anywhere near the dark place if you can fight this man. Seriously kid… you MUST NOT get in to a wrestling match with Red Mask you will only win by showing brute force and no mercy…. Can you do that?

Carmen: I do it weekly

Swindle: Exactly what I wanted to hear from you!. You need to be innovative with your environment… use the ring to your advantage… Those steps the smaller guys use to enter the ring… Made of solid steel… that announce table is not made out of cheap timber… Using these pieces of equipment as weapons are great and re-useable… not like those piece of crap steel chairs that fold in after every shot… Doesn’t the manufacturer of those things know what they are used for? I mean Jeez!

Karen: It… It was meant to be!

*Carmen shoots Karen a look of confusion*

Karen: The Dark Place… We were supposed to talk about it… We were supposed to argue about it… We had to watch that DVD… Carmen this is more then coincidence. Swindle has reminded you of how to beat Titus from beyond the grave. Can’t you see it?

*Tears start to roll down Karen’s cheek again*

Carmen: That is all very well but we’re forgetting one very large thing… This isn’t me and Titus. This is me, Titus and Everest. Everest is a former world champion and will stop at nothing to win the gold again

*A grin slowly crawls across Karen’s face*

Karen: And that’s why You will need to do more then ever before, go further then ever before, go deeper then ever before... Go Darker then ever before

*Karen smiles to Carmen while he gives an uncertain look back as the scene fades*

The scene opens to a very dimly lit room. There are no lights on, the only light we see is a very slight beam of light coming through the one lone window with the curtains open. The light can be seen reflecting off of some sort of glass as the camera rotates through the room. A few seconds pass before the room lights slowly come up. As the lights come up the details of the room come into view. It’s a beautifully decorated room that brings up images of those classic trophy style game rooms you see in those high society superstar houses. The difference here is there is nothing in the room but one 3 tiered glass display case, sitting in the middle of the room. All the other shelves in the room and mantles are bare. As the lights finally come on full blast we see the display case in all it’s glory. The camera closes in on a plague adhered to a pedestal. It reads simply “EVEREST: WORLD CHAMPION” and is engraved in solid granite.

Finally the as the camera stops on the dark case, the light inside the case comes on, illuminating the one and only thing that sits in the room:

A WZCW World Heavyweight Title!

A voice is finally overheard breaking the silence, it’s a very familiar voice to WZCW fans as it’s the voice of EVEREST!

EVEREST: (voiceover) This is it! This is the Pinnacle, the Mountain top so to speak. In this room I once displayed trophies that were won worldwide. Championships won from Japan to California, Wrestler of the Year awards from multiple organizations and even a Wrestler of the Decade Award. As you can see I’ve emptied all that crap out and slimmed it down to the one and only piece of hardware that matters. All great accomplishments in their own right and added up they make for one great career. A career any one of those losers that reside in the WZCW locker room would give their left nut for.

But after I lost my title to Titus in what may very well go down as the single greatest performance ever in WZCW, I realized that it wasn’t all those accomplishments that makes me the best. In the wrestling business it’s always been “What have you done lately?”

So let’s look at what’s happened to Everest lately -- I walked into Kingdom Come as World Champion; and had it not been for Titus’ deliberate attack on the official late in that match I would have walked out of there with my title still in MY possession. Of course I’m sure there are plenty of you internet “marks” out there who disagree with my point of view but the fact is if Titus doesn’t take out the coward’s way out at the pay per view, he’d be right where he belongs, on his back looking up at a real champion.

Unfortunately for us, the real world sees Titus holding my title high and walking around declaring himself THE World Champion! A point I will be more than happy to fix come Redemption.

Now there is one other reason that I’ve set up this little display. As you can see that Title sitting in the case isn’t some phony World Title, it’s not some “Secondary World Title” and it DAMN SURE isn’t that piece of tin foil Carmen Bratchney is sporting these days, claiming to be a World Champ.

That’s right Carmen, I haven’t forgotten about you. Not at all. At Ascension you felt the need to put your hands on me, even though you were supposedly just a “referee” a spot where putting your hands on the competitors should have gotten you fined and suspended but instead got you applauded and cheered by those ingrates in the stands.

I know you’re still pissed that you didn’t get your so called “Champion vs. Champion” match with Titus at Redemption. Fact is Carmen you don’t deserve a World Title match, you don’t deserve to be in the ring with me and you damn sure don’t deserve to call yourself a Champion. I said earlier that the tin foil title you carry around is just a sad imitation of what you wish you were: namely a true World Champion like myself.

Redemption is an appropriate name of this pay per view because I’m coming for redemption. I’m coming to the pay per view to get back what is mine and to dish out whatever needs to be given to prove to the world that I’m still the mountain.
Soon the “what have you done lately” question will be answered simply by saying -- “I’m the New WORLD CHAMPION!”

So if you fans want a simple, to the point review of Redemption, it’s simple. Titus vs. Everest vs. Carmen Bratchney for the one and only WZCW WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP. By the end of the night the true one and only WORLD CHAMPION will emerge. And while Titus and Carmen lay unconscious in the middle of the ring I, Everest, will once again be standing on the top of the mountain.

Titus, we’ve got unfinished business. You know it, I know it and the fans know it. Carmen, you couldn’t beat me before, no matter how many times you’ve tried and that’s not going to change come Redemption.

At the end of Redemption the whole world will realize

THIS IS MY WORLD!


AND THAT IS MY CHAMPIONSHIP!

With that the lights go out and silence fills the air once again.

 

[Lee]

Becky: Where on Earth is Titus?....he's late.

Leon: Oh come on Rebecca...the whole “He's late thing” it seems most people are late for interviews, however Titus is never late. When is your interview scheduled?

Becky: 21st April at 4pm.

Leon: And today is the 20th April at 4pm. You're a day early Becky, get with the times. Plus I've heard a rumour that he's stuck in Europe

Becky: Europe? What is he doing there?

Leon: Well he was visiting his parents or something like that, then the volcano exploded and currently he's on his way to Spain to get a flight to Keystone.

Becky: From the UK to Spain is one heck of a bus journey, good grief!

Leon: He'll be exhausted.

MEANWHILE IN SPAIN

We see a broken down old banger of a car with Titus looking very frustrated kicking the wheel.

Titus: Hunk of junk!

Titus pulls out his cellphone looking incredibly frustrated

Titus: Yup, my car has broken down. Anyone speak English? Cinqo hours? I have a plane to catch!

Ah Balls

Becky...Yeah, I'm stuck on some highway on the way to Barcelona airport. If you want the interview meet me at Keystone airport, I'll pay for the flight. I'll send you times and stuff. YES a truck thing has just pulled up! Awesome. Bye

The old rickety pick up truck pulls up, using typically Spanish stereotypes, there's a family crammed in the front and chickens in the back. You can hear generic Spanish music playing.

Titus: Barcelona?

Generic Spanish guy: Si

Titus: Airporto?

Generic Spanish guy: Si

Of course the driver points to the back as Titus grabs his suitcase and briefcase and jumps on the back.

Titus lets out a huge sigh

Titus: Finally the stretch to the airport. Surely it can't get any more worse than this

The camera pans to a guy slouched in the corner, he has a giant sombrero covering his face, as though he's asleep.

Titus jumps as he notices the guy, then gets more comfortable as the radio station plays a new song:

El Guerrero: Ahhhh Titus it took a volcano, a broken car and a nice man with chiiickens for you to come see me again braa?

Titus: El Guerrero, pleasure as always. So what do you have in-store for me today?

El Guerrero: Today it's simple, you have lost focused of your quest. It was never about gold, it was about the fight for good braaa. You take that briefcase you carry and you use what is in it for good. That's all I have for you braaaaaa.

El Guerrero goes back to sleep as you hear the speaker “PLEASE FASTEN YOUR SEATBELT AS WE WILL BE ARRIVING IN KEYSTONE SHORTLY”

We see Titus jolt up, he looks around and realises he is on an aeroplane.

Titus lets out another sigh as we now cut to him walking out of departures carrying his suitcase and briefcase. We also see Becky Serra with a couple of WZCW officials.

Becky gives Titus a friendly wave as the two WZCW employees pick up his cases.

Titus: You can take the suitcase, but I'll be carrying this one.

Titus picks up the brief case.

Becky: So you have a huge match coming up and you have me meet you here? Why ever for?

Titus: Big match? Who am I facing?

Becky: You mean you don't know who you're facing?

Titus: Just yanking your chain Becky, I know who I have. Just find it funny when people don't know who their opponents are!

Becky: Good grief Titus. So why we here then?

Titus: I've somewhere to show you. But the camera must be switched off until we arrive.

The room is completely black as we can hear voices.

Becky: Wow I didn't expect to ever see this room in the flesh, I assumed you had no need for it any-more.

Titus: One would think that Becky, but there are still a number of things to be sorted.

The lights come on and we see Titus' strategy room. The briefcase is on the table with Becky looking at the Everest wall.

Becky: I still can't believe you did it.

Titus: They said I couldn't do it, but I did. I took his weakness and came out on top. Titus defeated Everest, he cried that he was cheated, he cried that it was unfair. So the higher uppers said they would give him another chance. As a warm up for this match they gave him a one on one with yours truly. He lost that too. Yet here we are again, Everest wants another chance to win that title, to be the undisputed WZCW champion, all I say to that is good luck. He'll need it. This wall is redundant now, Everest I can beat, that much I do know.

Becky: Well the three of you have some history, both as friends and foes. How much of a challenge do you see Bratchny as?

Titus: Who is Titus' biggest rival?

Becky: Who's the interviewer here me or you?

Titus: Come on Becky answer me this, who is Titus' biggest rival?

Becky: Everest, surely.

Titus shakes his head.

Becky: Lars Reidar?

Titus shakes his head again

Becky: The rWo?

Titus: BINGO you have it. Come over here.

They head over to the wall which is dedicated to the rWo. There are pictures of Big Dave, Ace David, Karnage, the question mark for the fifth member and of course Ricky with the Real World title.

Titus: These men set out on a quest to destroy Titus. They set on a quest to have me at the bottom of the pecking order. Well what happened? Lets tell you what happened. Ace broke his neck, he's lucky to be alive.

Titus picks up the picture of Ace and throws it to the ground.

Titus: The fifth member never materialised, Blade decided to do his own thing.

Titus picks the question mark off the board and throws it on the ground.

Titus: Leadership struggles Becky, it always happens. Men want wisdom, they want courage but ultimately it comes down to power. These three could never work together. It's obvious that this would happen.

Titus throws the picture of Karnage as well as the one of Big Dave to floor.

Titus laughs at the picture of Ricky.

Titus: You can trust no one in the business Ricky, that much I did learn. Your own brethren laid the smack down on you and what happened? Where are you?

Titus picks up the picture of Ricky and throws that to the floor also.

Becky: So does that mean that you have destroyed the rWo?

Titus: One last thing Becky, one last thing....This.

Titus points to the wall where all is left is a picture of the real world title.

Titus: If anything symbolises the rWo and their attempts to destroy me, it's that belt. At Redemption that belt will be no more as it merges to become the WZCW heavyweight championship. That belt will be mine.

Becky: But can you look past the fact that you and Bratchny are friends?

Titus: The fact is Becky, ever since Swindle was taken ill, things have been all right between us. However he's been showing a ruthless aggression recently which I have not seen for a long time. Can I Titus look into his eyes and see an opponent? No I can't. Which is why I needed to get into a frame of mind, one of a hero, one that hid his face from the emotions of the world. That plan is in that case. You may look if you want, but I need to go and have some me time.

Titus walks out of the room leaving Becky and the briefcase, she opens the case as it covers half of her face.

Becky: Oh my....

Becky pulls out a Red Mask as the camera cuts out.
