WZCW's First Triple Crown Champion
A rivalry that has been brewing for months and now they finally meet under the stipulation they know best, Mayhem Rules. Gordito and Baez have been building up such an intense rivalry but have yet to take it physically out on each other in a match, now they will finally end the Cold War they've been having at Redemption. People suspect Baez's motivation surrounds a jealous for Gordito's opportunities at World Championship opportunities when he never won the Mayhem Title, will Baez prove the critics wrong or is he set for a long night?

Deadline is Tuesday 7th June 23:59 EST

Nothing but darkness. Pitch black darkness. So dark that blinking makes white dots appear in front of you. Because it's so dark, it's brighter inside your pupils. A voice can be heard. It's deep, with shades of wisdom as well as a sense of authority.

I hope you're here to listen and learn.

Suddenly, some noises fill the dark void before a blinding shine emerges. A bright star in the darkness can be seen. The camera is attracted to the light. Feeling power emanating from it. As the view moves closer, it becomes clear what it is. A TV.

Sit and watch with me,Alisha. I hardly see you anymore.

How you manage in this dark closet is beyond me. You spend days in here just watching TV and reading crap. It's hard to believe you're a big time wrestler. You barely work out, Baez.

Right...

Alisha sits by Baez in a couch to the side. Alisha sits formally while Baez just slouches over and starts "eating" McNuggets. Though they just bounce off his mask making a mess with the Sweet And Sour sauce.

As the presentation ends, Baez gets up and turns on the lights in the room revealing a closet. The area is filled with many a broken bottles, packs of different pharmaceutic drugs, police tickets and junk food.

Ali, I give you the life and times of Gordito. All confined in this little closet.

Are you kidding? All I see is a horrid mess. And just look at those shelves. You really should at least dust this off.

That's the point! It's supposed to be a mess! Would you let me explain?

Sure. I guess.

This room...

I thought it was a closet.

Who cares?! Just let me explain.

This... closet, represents the future and past of Gordito. See, if Gordito keeps going the way he does, this is exactly the way his life will look like. As well as his own home.

As Baez speaks with a very serious and near maniacal manner, he slowly begins to walks across the closet eventually stopping to grab a piece of paper.

Gordito has been living the reckless life on the highway to hell. Living life and enjoying it. Not thinking for one second of the consequences he keeps ignoring. As he keeps rushing ahead, he'll just be followed by the mistakes he never bothered to fix. And so the trash piles up. In time he'll be consumed by his own reckless intent. Choked under all the alcohol, drugs, women and tickets he keeps dismissing as simple mishaps. Next thing you know, his public appearance will start to show the side-effects of his behavior.

Are you aware, Ali?

Baez slowly turns to face his assistant expecting an ignorant but comical answer from her. She seems to stop to think about the question for a bit.

I heard he no-showed an interview.

That's right. And do you know why he no-showed? Because he was too drunk to get to the location. Everyone's big hero. Leading by such a great example. I said it from the very beginning. It would be his undoing.

I get that. But no-showing isn't that big a deal around here. It happens all the time. Why not that long ago before getting hurt, Chri///

I DON'T CARE!! That's no excuse. Especially for a guy so high on the card. Do you know what that reminds me of? Corey Payne. MMA extraordinare. Acted like one to point that his behavior got him kicked out of The 'Z. Clearly the fact that he had a guaranteed world title shot meant nothing to him. He was expendable. And so is Gordito. His attitude shows it.

And what makes you any better?!

Becky cries out. Outraged by Baez' blunt and probably farfetched rant. Baez is quick to fall in shock to her rather uncharacteristic response. Nearly shocked. That doesn't stop him though.

Excuse me?

You think you're any better? You've shown to be nothing more than a jealous freak. You turned on a friend because you couldn't do the things he did. It ate you alive that he was doing better than you and you just couldn't deal with it. People make mistakes. But at least both Corey and Gordito are capable of admitting them and try to correct them. You on the other hand, just hide behind other people's flaws to hide your own. Am I right?

A moment of silence comes by as Baez seems to be reflecting on the unbelievable response. What little of his face be seen seems to go from a shocked expression to a serious one. Despite the strong words he doesn't seem to flinch at all.

For the most part. Yeah. I am jealous. I didn't notice that I was hiding that fact. I am jealous of what Corey got on his way out. And I an jealous of Gordito being regarded higher than me. But neither have ever been better than me. Just because Gordito got a shot at the World title twice doesn't make him better than me. He never. I repeat, NEVER beat me for the Mayhem title when we both were the focus of the division. He flat out lost to me several times. Not once coming close to winning. Yeah, maybe we were bash brothers. But along the way he went down a different road. He tried to take shortcuts and cut right in front of me. But you know what happened? He burned out. He didn't make it. I've been pacing myself, but Gordito wanted to be the eager youngster. That didn't get him too far. So I took it upon myself to show him just how wrong he is.

I assume you remember the cartoon we just sat through, right?

Considering it was just ten minutes ago, yeah I remember. But what does that have to do with this?

Digimon Adventure, episode 19. The Digi-Destined receive a suspicious message that asks them for help. They head to help while also learning of the nature of the Digital World. Tai, the RECKLESS LEADER takes the fact that they are "computer data" in stride and thinks he's invincible. His attitude eventually gets the better of him when his friend Sora gets kidnapped. He runs to help and attempts to run past an electric fence to save her via the invisible hole they came through. But the other kids stop him before he makes a mistake that could kill him. See, he was gonna run straight through the fence believing that he'd just go through the hole or simply hit it with no consequence because he thought nothing could go wrong. But his friends remind him that he can still die. He falls in shock and Datamon gets away with Sora. Had Tai continue with his reckless behavior, he would've died.

Alisha seems reluctant facing Baez' explanation. She clearly seems to be at a loss. But not willing to give in to Baez she still responds.

I'm assuming you feel Gordito relates to Tai, right?

Yup. He's seen as the hero. Everyone expects him to do well. Even himself. Eventually that leads him to believe nothing can go wrong. But just like with Tai, some things can go wrong. And now Gordito is at a crossroads. He's standing in front of the electric fence. Will he take his chances and run recklessly expecting the hole to be there and risk his life? Or will he wait for his friends to help him cross? Gordito has already run up with failure. But what will he do when his next mistake can cost him his career? That electric wall seems very nasty.

I guess you feel like you are the electric fence. But is there an invisible hole in you?

No, you idiot. I'm not the fence. I'm Izzy, Joe and the others. Tai's friends. Who are there to snap him back to reality. To remind him that life has it's consequences. Gordito is free to decide if he wants to leave the fence to chance or if he's willing to take proper advice and work his way up slowly. So far, having Burna by his side doesn't seem to be helping at all. He needs a more blunt way to be taught. And I'm willing to give it too him. Life is harsh. And clearly he's not ready to deal with it. May very well just try to tackle the electric fence without listening to a single word.

Baez' words are harsh and in his own mind very true. But Alisha's face shows she doesn't feel that way. She feels disdain for Baez' comparison. Reacting by nearly crying.

How could you be so cruel? To a guy who has been such a good friend since last year? Don't have any regrets for turning on him? You couldn't even bother to explain how you felt before you just blindly stabbed him the back?! You and him were both considered very high on the card. Why couldn't you just talk to him?

It's been clear from the beginning that he wouldn't and hasn't listened. If I really wanted him gone, it would've happened a long time ago. Yeah, I've beaten him up. But I've had every opportunity to put him out of his misery. But I don't do it out of mercy. I still care for him. I offer to help, but all he does is just carry on with that Stepford Smile. Like if nothing is ever wrong. I'll finally make him open his eyes and see. Even if I have to pin him against the proverbial electric fence to finally get him to see. Tai listened to his friends and was eventually able to save Sora. Can Gordito listen to me and turn his career around? Can he redeem himself? Hopefully, he can. Because I'm willing to end him in the process. He made yet another terrible mistake signing to the Mayhem Rules stipulation. How many steps back is he gonna take before he faces electrocution?

Alisha begins to slowly and sadly turn around. Saddened by the attitude Baez exhibits. She stops before leaving and looks up a bit and responds with a simple, near cliche phrase.

Never... corner a wounded animal...

Baez' may be wearing a mask, but the sound of him smirking can still be heard loud and clear.

That cornered and wounded animal may just ride the lightning at Redemption.

Alisha walks away saddened. Baez merely shrugs off the response and simply drops like dead weight on the sofa and returns to bouncing food off his mask.

Clothed in his ratty red robe, black jeans, and cheap sunglasses Gordito sits atop The Sludge Pit rooftop at dawn. The sky is red with patches of the night sky still fighting back against daylight. This has always been Gordito's favorite time to relax on the top of his bar. Perched in his beat up lawn chair and with a mug of coffee on the ground by his side he takes in the view of the grimy city with his trademark smile upon his face. He allows himself to process a great number of past events which have for better or worse dictated the direction his career and his life have taken in the last year. As he closes his eyes, he can see these moments as if they were taking place around him.

Being a no name inserted into a dark match battle royal at the previous year's Redemption show. His contract match on the following Meltdown, where he came out on top over future champions Holmes and Toyota. His first shot at Baez, earning a measure of respect from the Mayhem veteran which eventually became friendship. The theft of the Mayhem Title at Apocalypse as Baez and Gordito were the last men standing. Defying odds and taking the chance luck provided him to simultaneously pick up his first Pay Per View Main Event and his first shot at the WZCW Championship, which also marked the first meeting between Ty Burna and The Dirty One. Finding fortune favorable to him yet again as he and Barbosa earned spots in a Triple Threat challenge to Burna's title.

He opens his eyes and reaches for his mug. After enjoying the coffee a bit he places it down again. Closing his eyes he takes in a deep breath. The smile fades a bit from his face.

Baez's betrayal, and afterwards his denouncement of his friendship with Gordito. Gordito letting himself become consumed by these personal issues, affecting his relationship with things around him. His chances at revenge on Baez fleeting as his former friend remains just out of grasp, striking whenever Gordito focuses elsewhere. Acting on a whim and getting Baez inserted into the King for a Day match, hoping to get his hands on Baez on the big stage. Coming up short at Kingdom Come, and most importantly never getting his big moment with Baez.

Gordito opens his eyes again. He reaches for his coffee and stands up with it in his hand. He begins to speak, softly at first but quickly increasing in volume.

Gordito: I've spent weeks preparing for this. I've gathered weapons. I've trained myself to be tougher, more resilient than ever before...I've already thanked you for the near weekly chair jumpings for kick-starting that for me. I've fallen asleep at night thinking of all the number of ways I can break you. Hell, I've even gone and found that bowling ball from last year and had it polished and shined for the occasion. I'm ready for this, baby. I've even said my prayers, drank my milk, and taken my vitamins.

He finishes off his coffee and throws the mug down behind him on the roof. As it shatters, he reaches into his red robe and pulls out a cigarette and a lighter. After lighting up and taking a drag he continues.

Gordito: Baez, mark my words...this ends at Redemption. It's time to see how far we've come in a year. Time to see what I have to show for my time here in WZCW. Baez The Killjoy in a Mayhem Rules Match at Redemption, live on Pay Per View.

The Dirty One raises his arms wide.

Gordito: In front of millions we will go to war. An instant Mayhem classic! They'll be talking about this one for a good long time to come, baby. You think I'm heading in there just to go down as the chump who couldn't get it up for the big time?

He lowers his left arm while beating his chest twice with his right hand.

Gordito: I am Gordito, The Dirty One. I've gone toe to toe with champions and legends, I've surprised people time and time again, and I have never NEVER backed away from a good fight. Mayhem Rules against you is homecoming to me, and this time I'm going to show just how good I really am. I'm not quite the same wide eyed weirdo I was when we had our first match. I've been up, I've been down, and I've lived through it all to tell about it. And I'm going to tell you all about it...with chairs, and with bottles, and light tubes, and pans, and anything else I can get my hands on.

He turns to walk towards the door to head downstairs. The sun is now risen, and the red and orange sky has burned away into morning blue. He continues talking as he moves forward.

Gordito: This isn't even about revenge. I don't need revenge. This is about proving you wrong, about showing you that it wasn't that the world has always been against you. It's not that people like me get better treatment. It's that people like me will survive, and will make their way forward, while people like you languish behind and lament what they don't achieve because their little short cuts and schemes always go tits up in the end. Mayhem Rules means no rules, which means there are not short cuts for you this time. No more dodging, no more hiding, no more surprises, only the clash of two Mayhem icons in what might be the most destructive and chaotic match WZCW has ever seen. Better bring your A game, baby, because I am. The Dirty One knows no other way.

He reaches the door and opens it. As he walks through, he looks over his shoulder one last time at the sun in the morning sky.

Gordito: Have fun and go crazy, Baez. It might be the only chance you've got.
