This match will be a 3 Stages of Hell Match

This is a second round Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal Match in the 2010 Wrestlezolympics. The match will be 3 falls, best 2 win. The third fall will not be contested if one wrestler sweeps the first two falls.

The first fall will be pinfall only. The match will be contested under no count-out, no-dq rules, but interference in the match is strictly prohibited. Assume there will be no interference from the outside.

The second fall will be submission only. The match can only end by tap out, verbal submission, or referee stoppage.

The final fall (if neseccary) will bring a steel cage down over the ring. The winner will be the first man to escape the cage. No referee will be in the ring during the final fall.

The match will open for discussion on Thursday, February 4th, and voting will begin on Friday, February 5th. This is a non-spam thread, so if you decide to post, you must provide reasons why you are backing a particular wrestler. You may vote without posting.

Davey Boy's gas tank has always been terrible. In every match I've seen him in that would last over 10/15 minutes, by the end of it Davey Boy was ALWAYS breathing heavy, completely gassed. He's just not highly conditioned when it comes to stamina.

Eddie Guerrero, on the other hand, could go two hours if he wanted to, any given night. The guy's gas tank us always full. And to me, that's the determined factor.

I think Davey Boy would come in early on, completely determined and on a mission, and actually pick up the first pinfall on Eddie at around the 10 minute mark. However, that's when his stamina comes to bite him in the ass. Davey Boy would blow all his load on that first pinfall, while Eddie will feel like he just hopped out the shower. Soon after the first fall, Eddie would catch Davey Boy with a roll-up, his feet on the ropes to the ref's blind side, and pick up the pinfall. Past that, Davey Boy would get a 2nd wind due to being pissed, but it wouldn't be enough to put away Eddie. Eddie would withstand the punishment, until waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike, and once he does, it's all over for Davey Boy. Eddie gets his next pinfall via Frogsplash, and wins the match 2-1.

I think you missed the stipulations. 3 stages of hell - the 2nd fall is submission and the final fall is a steel cage match where the ony way to win is to escape the cage. So Eddie can roll up Davey with his feet on the ropes all he wants, the ref will just stand there to see if Davey taps out. And I doubt anyone will tap out to a roll up.

Shit, sorry about that. I just saw the polls and figured it was 2 out of 3 Falls. That mistake won't happen again, lol.

Anyway, my main point still remains; Davey Boy would be gassed by the time he won the first fall. Shortly there after, Eddie would catch Davey Boy in the Lasso From El Paso I think it's called, and Davey Boy being as smart as he is, would tap quickly so no real damage could be done to him. Davey Boy then gets his 2nd wind as I mentioned in my first post; however Eddie is able to take everything Davey Boy dishes out, and then goes on a rampage similar to his match against Chavo Guerrero at the Royal Rumble 2004, winning the match 2-1 after hitting the Frogslash on the big guy multiple times.

The first fall goes to Davey, as he storms out of the blocks and destroys Guerrero for a quick pin. He continues to dominate the second fall, but Eddie manages to get a Lasso from El Paso, as the only one with a proper submission move. The final fall would be an Eddie classic. He'd play possum and lie in the ring as Davey climbs to the top. Eddie would then miraculously be ok and crawl out of the door for the win.

You're forgeting that Eddie does have a few submissions in his arsenal; the Lasso from El Passo comes to mind. I remember him making Mark Henry tap to the move after wearing him down. Now, Bulldog does have more stamina than Henry, but after a grueling No DQ match, even if he wins, one would think that Bulldog wouldn't have much left to hold of Eddie's efforts to wear him down for the submission.

I'm thinking that Bulldog wins the first fall, with both men going full throttle and pulling out the stops. Eddie, with the stamina advantage, and using his knowledge and crafiness, works over Bulldog, slowly wearing the larger man down enough to lock in the Lasso.

By the last fall, the cage match, both men are exhausted; however, Bulldog will be favoring his leg at this point, which will make escaping the cage that much harder. Even with the adrenaline pumping, I'd imagine it still not being enough to stop Guerrero. I can see the match ending with Eddie having made it to the top of the edge of the cage with Bulldog trying to pull him down while balancing on the top rope. Eddie kicks himself free, causing Bulldog to fall, and climbs up and over the cage, and falls to the floor. Thus winning the 3 Stages of Hell match.

Davey can't finish, period. He'll win the first fall with the powerslam, but he has no submissions that I can remember. Eddie has to know a bunch just from hanging out with Benoit and Malenko. You put them in a cage at the end and Eddie will manage to win somehow, which is what the end of his career was completely based on: getting a win from nowhere.

Eddie 2-1.

Davey's only situation is the match type for him not being able to win. Davey would have been a world champion if he was in the modern WWE, where there are two belts, so that neglects Eddie Guerreros win in my books. Davey was one of the top guys at the time.

But yes, Davey does get tired out. But in a keyfabe match, he has the first pin in the banks, once he catches Eddie. Eddie knows he has the second submission in the banks as well. I see the first two pins happening within 5-6 minutes, leaving Davey still another 9 minutes of air left, in order to win.

Have to agree with the majority here. The stamina advantage definetly goes to Eddie here. Davey Boy would likely win the first fall, but that would be it. Eddie, being sneaky and all, would likely do a few things to outsmart the Brit like, uh, play possum and some other stuff. After tying it up at 1-1, Eddie would immeadiately go to climb up the cage, and it'd be a race to the top, which favors Eddie.

It's sort of boring when everyone votes one way. Well actually, Davey Boy has gotten some votes which is nice to see, but no one is standing up for him, so I'll just try to encourage some discussion I suppose. Better dispose of these two niggling myths.

1. Davey Boy will be gassed.

This may be true, but I believe that once Davey Boy gets going, the first perhaps, half hour he will be able to keep up with Guerrero before the match becomes too much for him and he gets too tired. This is the time frame I see him in based on his matches with a guy like HBK, who is similar in size and speed to Guerrero, that went over 25 minutes. He also had matches with Bret Hart that could go over 20-25 minutes. If Davey Boy operates within this time frame and gets the first fall quickly, there is no reason why he couldn't win the match.

2. The Lasso from El Paso

Here is the main argument for Eddie in the second fall. "He's the only one with a legit submission move". I for one don't believe this. Firstly, who says a submission match has to be won whilst the opponent is in a submission maneuver? The match could be stopped by the ref or Eddie could even quit himself. Let's keep in mind that the match is No DQ, as was the singles match before it. This means that theoretically, Davey Boy could do so much damage with his power game as to completely negate Eddie's stamina and speed, controlling the match at his own pace, with maybe even weapons at his disposal.

And if that all fails, since Eddie got tips of Benoit and Malenko, then Bulldog could just as well have gotten a hold or two off of Bret, the brother in law.
