Chris Jericho (CAN) vs Luke Williams (NZL)

This is a first round Ladder Match in the 2010 Wrestlezolympics. The only way to win is to climb a ladder and retreive a "passport" hanging from the catwalks. The passport will send the winner onto the medal round MITB Match. There are no disqualifications and no count outs, though outside interference is strictly prohibited.

The match will open for discussion on Thursday, January 28th, and voting will begin on Friday, January 29th. This is a non-spam thread, so if you decide to post, you must provide reasons why you are backing a particular wrestler. You may vote without posting.

Here we have one of the greatest Ladder Match wrestlers of all time in Chris Jericho. Jericho is undefeated in three Ladder Matches, all of them being unforgettable. He's beaten the best in the business in them too. He's beaten Chris Benoit, Christian, and Shawn Michaels.

He also teamed with Chris Benoit to beat the three pioneers of the TLC Match, The Hardys, The Dudleys, and Edge and Christian IN a TLC match. This was also a match where he was flying solo throughout most of the match due to a rib injury sustained by Chris Benoit during the match.

Jericho is a shoo-in for either Silver or Gold in this event. The fact that he's facing a non-entity like Luke Williams makes it so much easier for Jericho here. Luke was violent as one of the Sheepherders, but he has no Ladder Match experience, and Jericho had more skill while he was working in Mexico than Luke Williams EVER had. It speaks volumes that despite being violent as a Sheepherder, that when he and Butch went to the WWF, they figured the only way they'd be able to connect is as a comedy act.

Jericho takes this easily and it should be unanimous.

I'm sorry Luke, but I have nothing in my mind relating to ladder match experience for you versus a man who has been dominant at the ladder match. In my memory, Jericho has never lost a one on one ladder match, which is why he will be so dominant here. JEricho by a sheep pack length.

Luke licked my cheek once, but other than that he's got no appeal here. Jericho is faster, smarter, more experienced here and just better overall. There's almost nothing to say here as it's so one sided it's not even funny.

Jericho wins this match with relative ease. There is nothing Luke brings to the table for this match that Jericho cannot beat. Guy hit on just about everything. Jericho is a legend in ladder matches and his name belongs with guys like Razor and Michaels. Not to mention he beat Michaels in a ladder match and had a hell of a match with Benoit in 2001 that is quiet possible my favorite ladder match ever.

Jericho wins this, no question about it.

Honestly, I don't think Luke will win this match because I don't think he's capable of climbing a ladder. He's perhaps the worst pro-wrestler in history.

Jericho, on the other hand, is one of the greats.

No brainer here.

Easiest match yet? Possibly. A true great vs Bushwacker Luke. Jericho can come up with crazy shit and the only way Luke wins here is if Jericho decides he dosent feel like winning and sits in the back. And even then Luke has trouble getting up the ladder.Simple pick here.

Well, Luke is one hardcore dude as apart of the Sheepherders and would probably be able to adapt to using the ladder as a weapon to take down Chris Jericho for a while. However, I am not sure he'd be able to climb the ladder fast enough to retrieve whatever hangs in the balance before Jericho gets to his feet.

Chris has experience in ladder matches and defeated people in Ladder matches, including the pioneer Shawn Michaels. He is one of the better wrestlers of the generation is hands down better a wrestler than Luke is. In a hardcore environment such as this, Jericho would be able to find a way for him to climb the ladder before Luke takes the first step.

Jericho to slip through.

Oh come on now. Team ANZ are out of their depth again here. Jericho may have failed to win ladder matches in the past, but I don't think so in this instance. This is in the bag for Jericho and there isn't really much elaboration required.

Poor Bushwackers. They didn't get very favorable draws here, now did they? At least their team name is right now, or something. Anyway, Williams ain't winning here. Sure, Jericho may be a glorified jobber at times, but he was also quite good, especially in ladder matches. You know HBK? He beat that guy in one of these. Luke Williams is no HBK.

The match is very one sided. Jericho has a field day toying with Luke. Anytime Luke gets the least bet of momentum, Jericho smartly steps out of the ring, and Luke always follows. The crowd starts chanting for Luke, and he hams it up for the crowd. This leads Jericho to grab the mike, and say the fans are as stupid as Sheepherders. He gets Lukes attention, and convinces Luke that the fans love him and want to see him hold the ladder and lick it. Luke obliges, and Jericho climbs the ladder and gets the slip.

I'm going with Jericho here. The man has the speed and experience advantage, though I'm sure that Bushwacker Luke would have no fear of the ladder, despite never being in a ladder match.

Regardless, Luke would have to dismatle Jericho; really work the match like a brawl, rather than a game of chance (floor your opponent and hope that you reach the top of the ladder first) and dispose of Jericho on the outside, to really have a clear shot of winning.

All things considered, I see Jericho winning; all it takes is one (or two) codebreakers to turn the tide of the match to his favor, brawl or no brawl.
