The mystique of wrestling is pretty much gone, the internet has all but obliteratted it and that mystique of not knowing what was going to happen next or how something was going to be pulled off just isn't there.
I disagree with this portion of your post. The mystique isn't gone--the creativity is. Take The Rock coming back, just as an example.
Most internet sites had reported it was more than likely going to be The Rock. Hell, the fans were chanting Rocky before his music hit. Now, I admit the surprise factor wasn't there like it would have been 15 years ago. But the surprise didn't make that promo what it was--talent did. The Rock cut one hell of a promo, and went further than most thought he would. He said more than any internet reporter could have predicted.
Nexus was a shocker. We still have no clue who the GM is. Internet reports can take some of the shock value away, but if something is done in a quality, creative manner, it can work just as effictively as it did 10, even 20 years ago.

Now, moving onto Randall. Who in the hell said he, or the WWE, wanted him to the next anyone? Over the last year, the WWE hasn't given him anything to do. Nothing. He feuded with a rusty Edge, very green rookies like Barrett and Sheamus, and half of those feuds didn't revolve around him. The first quality thing he's been given since the John Cena feud back in 2009 is his current beef with Punk. And in my eyes, that's going pretty freakin' well.
My point is the WWE doesn't want him to be the next big thing. They're happy where they are. You think Vince wants to hand the controls over to Orton? After all the time and money he's invested in John Cena? People can call me insane, but Orton has the popularity right now to pull it off. He's getting as big of a reaction, or bigger, than Cena in every city. However, Orton isn't taking over. I doubt Vince wants that. If he doesn't care who is the face of the company, he's had a funny way of showing it.
Orton cannot be The Rock. He cannot be Steve Austin. He isn't that charismatic. No one in wrestling, at this moment, is that charismatic. And yes Cena marks, that includes your guy. Those guys were in a class that doesn't include many people--Hogan, and maybe Flair. That's it.
Wrestling just isn't what it once was. I understand that opinion isn't popular, and I'm sure we have at least 30-40 posters who will tell me how wrong I am. But that's how I feel. I've watched wrestling for the past 22 years, and while this most definitely isn't the worst it's been, I've seen better. And I think viewership being down, across the board, is all the proof I need. Fans have shown, since Rock came back, that several of them are still out there, but they're not watching. It's pretty simple--they watch what they like. If they loved what was on right now, they would still watch.
