So are we looking at Kane/Orton for WM28? If we have to have Orton on the card, and I wouldn't miss him if he wasn't, this is a good quick, safe way to do it. It was great to see Kane throw Randy around a bit last night, even though Randy couldn't sell ice in the desert. I think the problem with Randy is a complete disconnect from the audience. Face or heel, he's completely disconnected from them. He never looks at the crowd before a finisher, just stares down his opponent. In the few promos he does, he looks at the interviewer and not at the camera or crowd. You can't get people to care about you, one way or another, if you can't connect with them. You have CM Punk who can draw in and bear hug the crowd he's so connected, something Orton could never do.

gee Randy Orton vs Kane at Wrestlemania sucks. There is no way Kane wins. Orton should be utilised so much better, he could be in an interpromotional match with The Miz, or Captain Teddy Longs team. Or even better, have him injected into the Title match with Sheamus and Bryan. By having this a one on one match, Sheamus is obviously going over and they are going to have him run with the ball on Smackdown. Thus I see Orton turning heel and being his first real challenge to the champ during the Spring leading to Summerslam.
Orton is just filling a spot on the Mania card, is this punishment for his drug violation?????

Orton doesn't need to be in the main event, full stop.

Why?

A) He's already a multiple time champion, and has already competed in top tier title matches at Wrestlemania. If Orton was pigeonholed into the match, it would be obvious that he wouldn't win.

B) It pisses all over the idea of the Royal Rumble. Winning the Rumble is a golden ticket to a title shot at Mania - it has to be earned. If Orton just swans in with weeks to go and gets himself put on the card it would completely devalue Sheamus' Rumble victory, face turn, and push.

C) The card is already stacked. Late insertions such as a third participant in main events usually indicate that management feel a one on one match wouldn't draw, and would need an additional injection of star power (see Benoit, HHH, Michaels). Right now with Rock/Cena and HHH/Taker, the undercard could be a 2 hour Divas match and you'd still get a shitload of buys.

D) Sheamus is more over than Orton right now. Sure, Randy still gets his teenage girl pops but I'm seeing a hell of a lot more Sheamus shirts and signs in Smackdown audiences right now.

Im fine with Orton facing Kane at wrestlemania, because it means we wont have to see him in the main event because he bores me to be truthful. I would love to see kane beat orton but I know that just like when he beat CM Punk at last years mania, he will beat kane at this years.

I think it's fair to say Kane.. Honestly, I didn't think about it, but now that I have, it could turn out to be a good match, we know Kane can put on a good match and with Orton's story-telling.. I say give them 15 mins max and they can put on a good match..

Add this match to the other 4 big matches and this could be a great Mania..

I think that there will be a hardcore/street fight stipulation to Orton v Kane. With 4 regular 1-1 matches on the card i think this match needs something a bit different added to it. Also, with the way Kane has really been pushing the 'embrace the hate' mantra with Cena, i think creative can make it work with a kayfabe hot-head like Orton.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was the opener in the way JBL v Finlay was at Wrestlemania 24; a quick ten minute brawl with a couple of cool spots to get the crowd going.

I'd be okay with Orton vs Kane because its a solid PPV match between two guys who don't clash very often. With that said, If I was WWE, and I am kind of surprised they didn't take this approach, but I would have put Orton into the mix with Bryan and Sheamus. Be it that along with Cena, Orton is generally seen as the 2nd top star in the company, he should be in the championship match. To add to that, imo, Sheamus vs Bryan is pretty weak for a WHC title match. Niether one of these guys have the name-value to make this a credible WM worthy main event match, nor one that most fans will be eager to see. Though Sheamus is probably accomplished enough for the spot, Bryan is hardly even worthy. I like Bryan, but he should not be main eventing Mania, let alone be WHC Champion. The guy has accomplished very little in his WWE career, and was rushed into the title scene too prematurely. imo, he is honestly undeserving of this spot.

It's pretty much guaranteed that it'll be Orton vs. Kane this year. Last year, Orton was put into his match with CM Punk mostly because there wasn't really anything else to do with him. Orton's one of the biggest stars in the company, so they were going to have him on the card one way or another even if it's mostly just filler. It looks like Orton finds himself in the same situation again.

It'll probably be a solid match but nothing to knock anyone's socks off. The card looks stacked as it is so there's bound to be at least one or two matches that come off as mostly filler. There's still time for him to be injected into the WHC match but I don't think WWE is going in that direction, at least I hope not. I'd rather see Bryan vs. Sheamus one on one at WM and Orton can always be added into the mix after WM.

I'm satisfied with Orton vs Kane, although I sincerely believe that Orton could have been the next Stone Cold Steve Austin if they used him right. Last year when Cena chose Orton as his partner on Raw to face off against Jack Swagger and Batista, it felt like a huge face turn for Orton. Orton RKOd Batista and Swagger in that match, and although he went on to lose a title match against Swagger he stayed alive after that. Ultimately, he won the title at "Night of Champions" and completely dominated from that point on. This wasn't too long after he faced Dibiase and Rhodes in a mid-card match at Wrestlemania 26. Then at Wrestlemania 27 he got thrown in with Punk and that was before Punk was really considered a top guy. Now, he's behind two title matches, a Hell in a Cell match, and The Rock vs Cena.

To answer the original post, the match at Wrestlemania between Orton and Kane is all but signed at this point.

for those stating Orton has been in main events at Mania....um Mania 25 was his last main event and the match with HHH sucked. His 3 way with DiBiASE and Rhodes he should not have gone over and Mania 27 he had a midcard match with Punk.
Notice a face Orton is not in the main event picture, only the heel Orton. I see him turnig heel very very soon, maybe the night after mania

Orton is a guy who is neither a face nor a heel. He will fight, cheat, will do anything to win and people will cheer him. Right now WWE is making him a baby face and he needs to get rid of that image. I would like to see that image which is anti-hero but not villain....
