Pure or Hardcore wrestling what do you prefer?, it's an easy question what style of wrestling between these two do you like better?

For me I think I like both, but I tend to lean a little more toward hardcore style, I just like the extremes that guys will go to to beat their oppents, Hardcore style seems to offer a little more creativity to the match, pure wrestling offers great matches as well but with the hardcore style you can do just about anything, where in pure wrestling you're a bit limited

I picked pure.

I feel a lot of the times the "hardcore" style can make some of the bad performers actually look good (Sabu, Jeff Hardy, Balls Mahoney, etc). Even though I admit I enjoy hardcore at times, however I tend to enjoy pure wrestling more. I feel it shows what the athletes are really made of and if they are actually good performers or can work better as stuntman with the "hardcore" style where anything goes.

Pure.

Mad Metal basically summed it up. I like Hardcore wrestling for entertainment but it covers to many flaws in a wrestlers ability. A wrestler can't live off of hardcore anywhere outside of the original ECW. They fade away. Some wrestlers shine in gimmicked matches but usually suck during the basic 1 on 1 matches. Some are good at both but you can't say that for a Hardy.

Pure wrestling is what a wrestler has to have to make it big. You have to be able to be a basic all around good performer. While in Hardcore your nothing more than a glorified spot monkey.

I'd choose an HBK/Angle Singles match over a Taker/Mankind HITC any day because they HITC was shit wrestling just spots.

Hardcore type matches in the end, Don't make you a solid performer. That's why Sandman,Dreamer,Balls,Sabu basically the whole crew... Never made it big anywhere other than ECW and smaller promotions.

Ooh, tough call on this one.

I gotta say both as well. Without Hardcore, guys like Raven, Sabu, Abyss, "Sick" Nick Mondo, New Jack, Balls Mahoney, Axl & Ian Rotten, John Zandig, Supreme, Vic Grimes, Messiah, and Sandman would be left out in the boonies in terms of wrestling (ex: everytime Hak is on RAW, completely out of his element and it magnifies his lacking technique. Still mark out for him and all those listed every time lol.) It's always a good time to watch guys go absolutely apeshit with everything you could think of as weapons. When ECW came around, nothing came close. More blood, More risks, more high spots, more ingenuity with weapons, it had it all. Nowadays, you have XPW(or at least had it), CZW, and the like.

On the flip side, Pure wrestling is essential and is always awesome to watch. Perfect example, Ring Of Honor. Need I say more? They are the gold standard when it comes to Wrestling. You can just about pick any match in ROH history and itll hold its own, if not, blow away any WWE match you've ever seen.Pure wrestling is what true diehard fans come to see. Thank God for guys like Bryan Danielson, Chris Benoit(he still deserves a legacy, he is still the best there has ever been), Bret Hart, Chris Jericho, Chris Daniels, AJ Styles, Ricky Steamboat, Dean Malenko, Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe, & Tazz made it a point to keep the SPORT of professional wrestling in the forefront and to show longtime fans and newcomers alike that there's more to "'Rasslin" than chumps like Hogan and Cena who don't feel the need to use more than 6 moves because their "gimmicks get them over so there's no point to improve". What a line of Bullshit. Sports Entertainment should be curse word to wrestling fans. I know it makes me puke a little every time I hear it.

So there's my two cents on the issue. Agree or disagree, to each their own.

Pure. Purley for the fact I think it would take me longer to grasp it. Generally there's not much skill to Hardcore wrestling. The only skill is not crippling yourself. I could get hit by a steel chair (I'd probably die but I could still do it) but I certainly couldn't chain wrestle. It's more to do with respect. I enjoy hardcore wrestling but there wasn't much from WWE '99 in the hardcore scene that I couldn't do myself.

I'm going to say pure. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy hardcore matches, well, moderately hardcore matches where "wrestlers" don't go over the top, mutilating themselves and doing sick shit just to entertain the sick bastards watching. I'm sure it takes a lot of balls to drop off some scaffolding, dropped on some broken light bulbs, thrown into some barbed wire or whatever, but it doesn't take much skill.

There's nothing I enjoy more than two men working their asses off to entertain a crowd, without going the cheap way and just battering each other with chairs. Samoa Joe, Low Ki, Taz, those are some of my favourite wrestlers, merely because they could/can make me go "Holy shit" without cutting their own limbs off.

Hot damn, I'm Mrs. Sam!!

Pure, without a question.

Pure wrestlers actually know how to wrestle and it shows.Put hardcore wreslters in an actually match and they look like crap.Don't get me wrong, I like to see someone get bashed over the head with a light tube as much as the next guy, but that gets old.HBK/Hart ironman over Sabu/Funk barbed wire anyday.

I chose pure wrestling as well because as a few people have said when you can make someone say out loud, "Did I just see that?!?!?" during a singles match, it's just awe-inspiring. There is so much more athleticism involved as well.

Hardcore was done to death. I actually like WWE's take on Hardcore, by which I mean, use it sparingly. I look at it this way, pure wrestling is the meal, it's what fills you up, and hardcore is that little snack you sneak late at night. A little isn't bad for you, but too much and your teeth fall out.

I choose hardcore as it's more exciting and it shows the guys are truly putting their body's on the line just to entertain us and yes it does take skill as does pure wrestling but when the wrestlers are on the matt half the match it tends to get boring although my favorite wrestlers of the hardcore style actually tend to be good havening a straight forward match as well.

I enjoy the hardcore style the most, but I prefer it mixed with pure wrestling. I think feds such as CZW are entertaining but it's a complete overdose of hardcore stuff. I like hardcore elements mixed with pure wrestling. Or a few straight hardcore matches on an otherwise traditional wrestling card.

I picked Hardcore wrestling and it was a no-brainer for me. First of all, you can see pure wrestling matches all the time, but really good hardcore matches only happen a few times a year. Also, hardcore wrestling is the reason I started watching wrestling in the first place. I didn't start watching because I saw some guy put another guy in a good choke-hold, but because I saw one guy smash another guy through a table, and I thought that was cool so I started watching. And while hardcore wrestling may not take the wrestling skill that pure wrestling takes, it's a lot more dangerous and fun to watch, in my opinion.

I'm gonna go with both. I like a good wrestling match, but I'm a huge mark for spot monekys in matches like Ladder and Cage. I actually don't like matches when someone just beats each other up with weapons, I like to see some wrestling moves mixed with a hardcore concequence (Jeff Hardy at a wrestlemania for example.)

Pure. Hardcore wrestling just hides flaws in wrestlers. Most of the Hardcore wrestlers that I have seen are shit outside of a nongimmicked match. I hate to bash Sabu, but outside of ECW, he's terrible. The hardcore environment works with his style. I mean hell guys like the Rottens were over simply because they beat the shit out of each other with glass glued to their hands, yup, that takes talent.

Hardcore wrestling is what makes wrestling laughable. Don't get me wrong there are some damn fine wrestlers, like RVD, that incorporate hardcore wrestling so well into their arsenal, it's scary. But in the end, RVD doesn't need hardcore wrestling to be good. These feds like CZW and XPW, or WSX, they are shit, plain and simple. Guys busting each other open with light tubes is the stupidest shit ever. It's quick, cheap, legal violence. It's spot fest to hell and back, and really, you get nothing out of it except, god, that stupid fucker has to clean a light bulb out of his skull for another month.

Pure wrestling is the shit. I'm with Jake, understanding a pure wrestling match and everything it incorporates is just scary. I can watch pure mat wrestlers and technicians go at it all day. I loved the Malenko/Benoit Road Wild match. All of the hillbillies on their bikes had no idea what they just saw. The chain wrestling and amount of reversals are just sick. Pure wrestling is good, as long as it is not choreographed to hell and back. The spontaneous nature of it is what makes it amazing. Look at any of the Benoit Angle matches, it's just amazing how flawless those matches come across, and just how natural it looks.

I picked Pure mainly because that shows how much of a performer you are rather than how good you can make a weapon spot. I liked the Old ECW but I don't like promotions like CZW that wrestlers walk around with weapons and hit other wrestlers with them (there are some good wrestlers in CZW though)
I picked Pure as well because I prefer watching it and it's enjoyable to see a match put together with good structure and then executed perfectly in the ring. I enjoy watching Pure wrestling because it shows how good you can wrestle and how well you can take a bump and sometimes a spot.

I would take pure wrestling without a doubt, don't get me wrong i love hardcore wrestling but not like i used to. I would rather watch an Angle Michaels, A Benoit Angles match or even watch a regal and or Finlay match because they show off to the best of there abilty, or even like an Aj Styles match because of his ability to compete with the smaller and bigger guys and it makes you go "how in the hell did he do that". I enjoy watching most matches that Angle is in because of his pure wrestling and his ability to carry a match. A hardcore match is just about weapons and so forth, I loved watching A Sandman Dreamers match or a Sabu match because it shows the type of beating, but the hardcore wrestling style does cover up a lot of flaws in their abilty. Also dont get me wrong i use to love when New Jack use to like dive off of stuff on tables while using his head because he was risking his body in serious ways, or i believe it was either Psicosis or Super Crazy at the first ONS that did a moonsault off the high up on the barricade just to entertain us the fans, thats entertaining but does get boring. The pure wrestling ability can make you sit and your seat and keep going AWE or WOW and it shows off that they worked there hardest to entertain us without using short cuts by beating each other senseless with bats and chairs.

I chose both. I'm equally enamoured with both but I do realize the difference. Pure is more about talent and precision and hardcore is all about being ballsy and stuntwork. I'll watch either type of wrestler as long as their good at what they do. As far as people saying hardcore wrestlers can be good? I disagree...they can. Ive seen some expectionally crappy yardtards.

It's tough to choose just one style. Each has its own place in the wrestling pantheon. But just looking at it from a forced choice kind of perspective, then I'd say pure wrestling, if I had to pick. Hardcore is very hit-and-miss for me. Sometimes, when it's on, it's really on. When it's not? It's just dudes hitting each other with stuff. My favorite instance is when both can be mixed well. Basic wrestling and normal-style work are combined with creativity and solid usage of weapons to make a hybrid style that shoots from different angles on all cylinders, as it were. Lynn/RVD was a solid example of this. They would start the match off with a lot of technical wrestling and near falls, but at no time did the match just resort to blatant striking with the weapons. The weapons were used creatively in new ways you didn't think were possible. THAT is the kind of hardcore wrestling I enjoy most. But it doesn't function without the necessary component: pure wrestling. Other honorable mentions for me are the first HITC match between HBK and Undertaker. The big secret to what I'd consider great hardcore wrestling is VERY simple. Don't use the weapons so much that they invalidate your standard wrestling offense. The second the wrestling becomes second fiddle, you never recover your audience (look at WCW and WWF's Hardcore divisions for examples of this most often).

i myself i pick pure wrestling not to say i dont like some hardcore but a pure wrestling match beats it anyday i take a match betweeen ric flair and ricky steamboat before anything hardcore or even benoit and the hitman

I have to say that I would much rather see a hardcore match than a regular wrestling match b/c of the fact that you can see regular wrestling in any federation but hardcore matches are much more rare. I would much rather see a guy get thrown through a table than get suplexed onto the mat.

I could never say that I don't like to watch a regular match also. A wrestler must also have the mat skills and mic skills needed. Not just any Joe Schmo can go in there and smack someone with a chair and call themselves a wrestler.

A hardcore wrestler must have charisma, mic skills and mat skills to go with their hardcore wrestling style.

long story short: HARDCORE WRESTLING IS BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dude Hardcore all the man Hardcore has no limits no rules and absolutely no mercy hardcore is better than pure wrestling get out of the dang past people Hardcore is the next generation wrestling style
HARDCORE RULE HARDCORE RULE:headbanger:

I like what I'd call Pure Hardcore. ECW was the best example of this and RVD in ECW was an master of his trade. There were a few other's that were awesome, like Lance Storm and Justin Credible. Guys like Angle and Beniot I think are too pure for their own good sometimes (was in the case of Beniot) and lacked the innovation and creativity that came from guys like RVD, Storm, and Credible.

During the "Monday Night Wars", i found myself tuning in on Fridays to watch ECW! ECW had pure wrestling, But with the element of HARDCORE WRESTLING just around the corner. They had the best wrestlers at the time, guys who could take a chair shot and sell the hell out of it. Hardcore wrestling is the best type of wrestling BAR-NONE! In a hardcore match you never know what is going to happen, you sit at the edge or your seat watching, in a regular match, its suplex here, suplex there....SNOOZE!!! Hardcore all the way!

BAMBAM!!

Pure wrestling is always good for the status-quo, but they rarely have that anymore. When was the last time you saw someone use a submission move other than Finlay?

I think every match should consist of "pure wrestling", but they should have occasional hardcore/stipulation matches as SPECIALTY situations. That's one of the reasons I love the Royal Rumble - its once a year. Too many No DQ matches cheapen the thrill.

The big problem, though, is that they desperately need to stop ending matches with interference. I'm getting so sick of how often they do it. 9 times out of 10 now, a match will either end with a DQ interference or someone will distract the ref and do something illegal to win. Downplay that a little and only do it to build up a heel's reputation...not just because you have lazy writers.

The only hardcore wrestling i ever liked was ECW because you did get wrestling and hardcore.
The ECW went under and CZW came about. Every single member of the thing wrestling forums could have wrestled in CZW because there was no skill or talent needed at all to wrestler there.
So pure wrestling gets my vote.

I'm enjoy pure wrestling alot, but hardcore gives a more interesting element. So I'm 50/50 on this one. ROH is an shining example of great pure wrestling, as ECW (the old one) of hardcore. ECW was great because you got alot of harcore wrestling with some pure. I personally would rather watch a haardcore match made by pure wrestlers, than a pure match with harcore wrestlers. Overall both types are great.
