Prince Devitt's new name in the WWE is....

In Irish mythology Balor is a demon king, so that is sort of badass, but how many people are going to know that? I get that indy stars never keep their names, but this name is ridiculous.

Maybe he will get lucky and they just go with Balor once he hits the main roster.

Same number of syllables in the first and last name as John Cena, Steve Austin, and Hulk Hogan. Ladies and gentlemen, the new face of WWE.

Other notables with a similar name:

C Empunk
Doink Theclown
Trip Ulaych

I sort of know who helped him out on this one, weirdly. Not at liberty to say. It wasn't me. A guy in the UK scene.

It's pronounced BAY-lorr, like the college, if you're wondering.

Finn has connotations with aerodynamics, sharks, a mythical strongman and endings. Balor is a king and a college known for athletics. What part of this isn't suitable for wrestling? I know we're all worried about Wee Cousin Fergal but that isn't going to happen. Guy had a paid job for life in New Japan, he didn't turn up to get laughed at.

Heres the thing honestly I like the name Finn and I've always hated Fergal it just doesn't sound right, but here the name Balor just sucks I've always liked his last name Devitt its just cool "Finn Devitt" now that sounds perfect!!!

I know WWE want to own the trademark to his ring name, but why don't they go for something slightly different from his known ring name and trademark that?

Fergus DaVitte or something like that?

Finn mac Cuhmaill is famous Irish legend who mythology says fought evil, so that's probably where he or someone got the first name.

And at this point I really don't think names matter. They changed Bryan Danielson to Daniel Bryan for Christ sake, and he still got over. My only issue with this, is that after this name change and KENTA's name change that Steen will get a name change also. Kevin Steen does not need a fucking name change!

Just seen his first promotional pic as Balor
