Potential Cody Rhodes/Sin Cara feud? Your thoughts?

Dark Match Jobber
Okay, so even though the title of this thread is pretty self-explanatory, let me elaborate just a bit.

After Rey Mysterio was drafted to RAW a few weeks back, that confirmed the Cody Rhodes/Mysterio storyline (which was a hell of a good one, if I may say so myself) would be coming to an end at Extreme Rules. And indeed it did. Now, with Sin Cara being moved to SmackDown, essentially as Rey Mysterio's masked counterpart and replacement (I'm assuming?), the first thing I figured was that Cody Rhodes would start a program with him right from the get-go. (Rhodes moves on from one masked man to another, continuing his angry, psychotic hysteria over masks (figuratively and literally) because of what happened to his face at the expense of Mr. 619 way back when). SmackDown came and went the first week after ER however, and Sin Cara and Chavo Guerrero (surprisingly...for me at least) showed signs of beginning a program (which has apparently carried over to WWE house shows this past weekend), so I realized the idea that popped into my head was seemingly not to be. Now, at this moment I realized that Sin Cara hasn't so much as spoken a word on the mic, which to me hurts his chances of having a good feud with anyone, because you can only express so much through body language (you also can't see an inch of his face through that mask), and with this realization I decided that a Rhodes/Sin Cara feud can wait, for now. Not only that but maybe Rhodes going after another masked man right away would be sort of repetitive (this is obvious, I know).

In closing, my question to all of you wonderful members of the IWC here on WrestleZone is this: If a Rhodes/Sin Cara feud were to happen sometime down the road (and this is assuming Rhodes' character is still in the midst of his psychotic breakdown because of his 'scarred and deformed' visage), do you think it would be enjoyable? But more importantly, is it something you would want to see?

I would want to see it. But I fear it will just turn into another, more botchful version of Rhodes vs. Mysterio II. Sin Cara I believe still has a long road ahead before taking on a credible opponent. He was moved to Smackdown based on how green he still is in fact. It's why I believe he is working an angle with Chavo Guerrero of all people. That and he hasn't spoken because he doesn't have his English down yet. Give him time though, and he will be up there with the big dogs.

As for Cody, well I'm sure somewhere down the line he will enter another feud regarding an opponent hiding behind a mask (possibly Sin Cara or memories of Kane). But in all honesty I'd rather see a Kane/Rhodes program before a Rhodes/Sin Cara feud. Sin Cara like I said is still green. And Rhodes is on a whole new level ever since his feud with Mysterio.

In conclusion, I'd like to see it, but not anytime soon.

Yes, that could be. To me, it just sounds like more of the same in that neither little guy offers much on the mic (in fact, we don't know yet if Sin Cara can talk at all!), leaving Cody to handle all the vocal work. Beyond that, it's damn hard for the big guys to work with Mysterio or Cara. You have to sacrifice yourself to make the little guy look good.....getting yourself into position to absorb their flying maneuvers, as improbable as they may be.

Of course, when you come right down to it, Cody is a good one for the small guys to work with since he's a ring technician who knows how to make his opponent look good......and Cody isn't giant-sized himself. I still say the image of Mysterio pinning huge men like Batista, McIntyre and Swagger is so visually ridiculous it defies belief. So would it be with Sin Cara, although we're probably going to see it.

So, I hope we can see Cody in the ring with Sin Cara......but just for a match or two; not for a whole feud. Give the guy a break!

There are two reasons why I do not want this match to happen.

1. Cara is new into the WWE and I do not think that the audience understands how exactly to react to him. Surely he will get a face pop if he feuds against Rhodes but the crowd won't be behind him like they were behind Rey. Cara has shown off some unique moves but he does not have the desired connection with the crowd as of yet and it might hurt his career if he fails in a high profile feud so early.

2. I want Cody to move out of his fixation with masks. It's too gimmicky in my opinion. I think that he was doing better before he started off with that paper bag stuff. I think that the WWE need to focus more on his own paranoia about his looks getting damaged rather than this mask fixation that Cody has.

So I think that Chavo is the correct guy to feud with Cara at this point because Chavo knows both the Lucha Libre style as well as the WWE style and he will help Cara fix his moveset. I think Cody is better off feuding with a midcard face who is a pretty boy, claiming how he was once dashing but now it is a thing of the past.

I do not want to see that feud, Rhodes should join the core it would help him to progress because he is not that good on his own

I think that a Rhodes and Sin Cara feud could be good in terms of the matches. There's one little problem. Sin Cara has yet to say anything. Rhodes could taunt him in promos, leading up to the match itself, but Sin Cara would have to talk eventually if this feud were to work because verbal promos are better to build up a match than one guy talking while the other just shows up, says nothing, then the match starts. Rhodes VS Sin Cara could easily pick up where Rhodes VS Rey left off if it is done correctly, and the matches would be far better.
