Don't they let babies go home after 1 week to make sure everything is fine? One day seems like a very short wait.

It depends. If the baby is born healthy, the usual stay is between 24-48 hours. There were no issues with the pregnancy or Ana after being born, so they discharged her and my wife yesterday evening.
