Popular Bands/Artists You Never Could Get Into

First Immortality..Then the Bitches
I know one Artist I never got into was AC/DC despite how massively popular they are. Its not that I hate them, I just hate the lead singers voice, I cringe every time I hear him. The music itself is alright but its the lead singers voice that just bugs me to the point of reaching for ear plugs every time I hear it.

Metallica, yes I said it,Metallica. I have no reason to hate the band, I just find them overrated and never really thought of them as anything special. I don't find them impressive in the least, I'm sure a lot would disagree. I'm not saying they suck, but they are nothing special in my ears.

Nirvana
: Nirvana is another of those bands I tried to get into but every time I really listened to them I struggled to figure out what exactly the hype was all about. They have a few good songs but nothing to rush out and purchase over in my opinion. I understand that Kurt was the voice of a generation in some eyes, not mine, maybe that's why I don't think they are anything really special.

So these are my main picks, what are some of yours?

I agree with you on Metallica, as I have found the same thing.
Nirvana, on the other hand, is one of my favourite bands of all time hahaha.

Anyway, for me, a few bands that come to mind are:
Pearl Jam: For the longest time, I just could not get into Pearl Jam. Sure, they didn't suck per-se, but I couldn't stand Eddie Vedder's voice and I just couldn't make a head or tail of their music. These days, however, I've seen the Pearl Jam light and think that the majority of their stuff isn't all too bad!

Opeth: A big one for me. I just don't get it. Amazing musicians, sure. World-class even, but I just can't get into their music. I own two of their records and just cannot see for the life of me why a lot of people kiss the ground they walk on. Yet every time I say that I don't like this band, people look at me like I've committed treason. People have forced me to listen to them and promised me that if I listen to them enough, I'll fall in love with them, and the bass player in my band has offered to give me his entire Opeth collection... all of which have had the same outcome: I just don't get the fuss over this band.

For me its any classic rock bands, such as Metalica Nirvana beasties boys and Beatles
For me these bands don't suck but i don't like them either i tried listening to them but i dont
Like them they must be some sort of appeal to people born in the 90s or 80s but i just find them average. I also can not get into anything Techno/Screamo no matter what. basic they are all horrible singers/bands and suck.

Slipknot

Although I like a small number of their tracks, Slipknot are a band I could never fully fall in love with. When I was in school the 3 big new bands that everyone was getting into was Korn, Limp Bizkit and Slipknot. They wer the "BIG THREE" and anyone who liked rock music liked them.

I didnt mind Korn, I was HUGE Bizkit fan, but Slipknot just never did it for me. I didnt like Corey Taylor's vocals on most songs, I thought he screamed too much, and to be honest I still think he screams too much on alot of 'Knot songs- although I am a big fan of his work in Stone Sour.

I dont know what it was, they just never appealled to me, and even know that I like alot of heavier bands than I did back then, Slipknot still just don't do it for me

I agree on Metallica. I don't get much of Nirvana's stuff; Some is great, but some is equally crap. (Dave's from my home area, & we celebrated him recently; I think he's better now.)

I'm a HUGE Monkee fan, which I thought for years made it wrong to be a Beatle fan. Now, I like them some, but think Paul (like Dave) did better after.

Iron Maiden
I just can't seem to get into them. I like Metallica, Megadeth, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, but somehow I just can't get into Iron Maiden, I can't explain why, because I know I should, and I respect their talent and what they did for metal back in the day, but I just can't listen to them and ever generate any kind of interest for them.

Led Zeppelin
Probably one of the best rock bands of all time... meh They just more or less bore me. Even I find it a shame, but ohwell I guess.

Both are bands I admit I should for all intents & purposes really love... but I don't.

The most popular artist I could never get into was drake. I think that all of his songs are awful. His voice is extremely monotone and he is always singing about himself of women! His only decent song is find your love. I just don't get what the hell the craze about him is for.

hmm i can think of quite a few different singers or bands so ill go that route

Lady Gaga cant stand her or her music shes just too weird for me and her songs are just over rated to me.

Backstreet Boys i was a kid in the 90's and all my friends were into boy bands i never really got into them i found them kinda lame i was always more of a metal or country fan back then and even now i think there a stupid band.

AC/DC i like i love rock n roll but other then that im not a fan of these guys i know there a great rock band but i was never really a big fan of these guys.

Metallica i like a few songs but most of their music just isnt something i can get into and im a huge rock music fan just not 1 of those bands i love

Going with a pretty well-liked and respected band, especially by music critics, as I could never get into the music of U2. It seems like everyone over the age of thirty considers them one of the greatest bands of all-time, but I really don't see it. I can only think of one song of theirs I've enjoyed ("Sunday Bloody Sunday") among the dozen or so I can think of right now, and even then I wouldn't say I love the song or anything. It's just... alright. I guess it's just one of those things you can't quite explain.

I might as well say that I still don't get the hype around Lady Gaga. Some of her stuff is kinda catchy, but nothing I could listen to multiple times over without feeling the urge to kill. In other words, she gets very annoying very quickly.

So many, but I'll stick with 3.

Adele - I really like Linkin Park's cover of Rolling in the Deep, but her voice just grates me. I think every female I know loves her so I either get them singing a song or them playing her album. Also seen a couple interviews where she comes off as a bit of a twat.

Lady Gaga - Can just fuck right off. I can understand why she's big all over the world, but the constant attention grabbing antics being written off as "social commentary" etc just pisses me off even more.

Pink Floyd
- My mate always forgets I'm not a fan of them then goes in a sulk because of it. I know some of their songs and it's not like I hate them or anything, just don't really do anything for me.

Breaking Benjamin - I rattle my brain attempting to come to a conclusive answer as to why people like this band. I've heard so many people sing their praises, I've heard they win awards and shit and that they're supposedly a great rock band and all this, but I wonder why the hell do people like them? I've tried listening to their music. I tried listening to that song, "Blow Me Away" but the song title just made me want a blowjob. I tried to listen to "Follow Me" but then I thought I had a stalker. They have song good guitar rythems but I can't see what some see in them.

Shinedown - The very same thing with Breaking Benjamin! Why in Gods name do people like Shinedown? Are my ears broken? Does their rather nonsensical lyrics not compute with my brain? I don't get it! Once again I've tried, hard, to listen to a few tracks but they just don't do anything for me. Overrated. Totally overrated. Plus I've heard they're shit live which immediately makes me think autotune.

Lil' Wayne - I'm not overly taken by rap music, but this guy makes me scratch my head until my finger begins to embed in my brain. I like Eminem. I like Kanye. I like Jay Z, Dr. Dre and a few more. But this guy has no talent at all. Not one of his songs are good to me, not freakin' one! I remember listening to Kevin Rudolf's song he did for the Royal Rumble two years back and when Lil' Wayne hit I was like, "What the fuck is he saying? What? My TV broken?" Dude is the most over-hyped, overrated rapper ever. Lonely Island makes this dude look whack.

Creed

I tried very hard to get into them (heck three quarters of them are in one of my favourite bands, Alter Bridge)

Musically their decent, its just Scott Stapp's singing. I know he's attempting to emulate singers like Eddie Vedder (who I like) but he just sounds like a bad karaoke impersonator singing over some good music.

Kanye West. I don't care how many critics rate his albums as the greatest thing to happen to music, I just don't get it. His lyrics are all completely hypocritical, and he's a total ass. Some of his back-beats are fun, but Kanye isn't responsible for hardly any of the actual music that goes on his album. He does the rapping...and that's about it. The people that produce it, record it, back-track it, and do all of the effects...are not him. I just don't respect him, and I can't see why so many people like him. Or why critics think his music is the best rap has to offer. I will never understand...

Beatles
Before everyone starts bashing me, I want to go on and say, THEY REVOLUTIONIZED ROCK AND ROLL MUSIC, THEY ARE LEGENDS IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY, VERY INFLUENTIAL TO MUSICIANS EVEN NOWADAYS.....

However, I personally...dont see anything special. Sure, they were one of the firsts in the industry, sure they had some top hits. It's not them that I dont like, Its their music. It doesnt float my boat.

I do enjoy some of their songs such as: While my guitar gently weeps (LOVE THAT SONG) Let it Be, and Come Together. But I enjoy them as COVERS. Yes, I enjoy Aerosmith's Come Together a lot more than the Beatles because ITS MORE UPBEAT, MORE HARD, ...Thats the type of music I enjoy.
I also LOVE LOVE LOVE James Durbin's version of My Guitar Gently Weeps because his voice, its just a voice I could listen to unlike John Lennons. I do however, prefer Paul's voice over Lennons. Anyways, I just cant get into Beatles... no matter how many people bug the shit out of me "Yo! Theyre legends bro! How dont you like em?" I say "Hey, just because they are legends doesnt mean they fit the style I like"

2nd: Kanye West, like someone mentioned before. The guy had some good songs back before he became so obnoxious such as Through The Wire, and Jesus Walks. But now he raps about money, fame, and shit like that. Its just so generic of rappers these days. I like some of his instrumentals though, but its his producers that produce them... not him.

System Of A Down

Seriously, I don't get all the love for this band. They are average at best, with a very small number of good songs. I think people just like them because they are different, because it sure as hell can't be for their musical genious.

Serj Tankian's voice is unique, but most of the time he just sings in a very strange style and I know he can actually sing in tune as he shows it on rare occasions like in "Toxicity" which is my favourite System song.

They just shout too much, and while alot of my friends got really into them back in the day, they just never appealled to me, bar the odd 3 or 4 songs. I could never sit and listen to a whole System album, some of it is just too weird for me, like that "BOUNCE POGO POGO" song....seriously, what the fuck is that? Is that what qualifies as music these days? Christ

I am probably within a very small minority of music listeners, but I never could understand what the big deal was about Led Zeppelin.

There is no question that the guitar skills of the legendary Jimmy Page are outstanding. Even Robert Plant's vocal style is unique and brought something very interesting to the band. I guess the big letdown for me was their actual songwriting. I'll admit that I enjoyed a Zeppelin song or two (mainly "All of my Love," as I thought it was catchy), but I could never bring myself to jump on what seems to be an endless bandwagon of Zeppelin fans.

I might get jumped for this but my choice would be...

Asking Alexandria

I never could figure out what was with everyone drooling over this band. Im not saying they suck, the hardcore fans just annoy me.

Beatles

The song writing is amazing. And i love lucy in the sky with diamonds, but i think my biggest problem is their song style. Idk i guess i needed to live back then to really enjoy it. I seem to love their songs when they are covered by other bands.

Van Halen

Their music is good, but for some reason i could never just sit down and listen to an album...go figure:shrug:

Lady Gaga cause she has this unique look but not something I can get in to.She just seems to be so annoying and really weird in her videos.

Definitely have to go with Lil Wayne here, I just plain don't understand why people like this guy let alone love him and say that he's the greatest of all time. He sounds horrible, and his songs do not impress me one bit, I just don't get it.

Kanye West is another one, I understand why people would like his music but I don't like his additude and his voice is kind of boring for one of the top artists today.

Just so it doesn't look like i'm hating on rap i'll throw in Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato. They are both the same, all the little girls love them and neither of them are good enough for the credit they get. Demi and Selena are fine when theyre acting on kids shows, but just because their voices arent shit doesnt mean they need to become singers, they are mediocre at best and I don't understand the hype. Atleast that damn Beiber can sing, it's with a girls voice but it's a good girl's voice. I'm tired of Disney channel turing all their tv show stars into singers when they don't have the talent to do so, Miley Cyrus I understand but Mitchell Goddman Musso? Are you kidding me!?!

Lil' Wayne. Almost everyone I knew in high school loved the guy and I never understood why. I can never understand a word Lil' Wayne says in his songs. It's bad to the point where I have to actually look up the lyrics in order to follow along. His songs aren't even great yet my schoolmates drooled all over him. In my eyes, Lil' Wayne easily makes the list of the world's most overrated and talentless rappers.

The obvious choice is Justin Bieber but since I'm not a 12 year old girl, and I don't like R&B all that much, I'm going to go for bands from genres I like.

Green Day
They've just gotten worse and worse as years have gone on IMO, Know Your Enemy is one of the worst songs I've ever heard. Just awful lyrics.
I mean the chorus is

Do you know the enemy?
Do you know your enemy?
Well, gotta know the enemy, wah hey

The Doors
It would make sense for me to like them, but I just can't get in too their music, I think it's quite dreary. Garden Of Eden is just boring.

The White Strips
Not a fan of their music despite Seven Nation Army. Overrated.

Some great choices so far, some of which I can agree with and others I feel indifferent too, but to each their own right.

So I'm back with another band. This time it's Coldplay.

I once bought one of their albums after hearing the praise from one of my close friends. He was so high on them that instead of checking out their music first I rushed in and just bought one of their albums thinking this could be the one of my new favorite bands. I got home and threw in the CD into my disk drive on my computer and after the first 3 songs I was just so bored of their music all ready. It just lacked any real punch too it. But I sucked it up and listened to the rest of the album thinking it would pick up at some point, and it never did. I just found that entire album dull and completely uninteresting. I thought, well okay, maybe its just the one album, so I listened to a few of their songs from previous albums and the result was the same. Just dull and boring. Its not that they don't lack creativity, its just I find their music lacks any energy.

Later that week I went back and traded that album in for something else. I didn't see what people saw in them then and even today I still don't what people see in them.

Hmmm, so many, so I think I'll list three that are usually the most revered...

U2 Seriously dislike everything after the Joshua Tree, I know bands should evolve over time but a completely different sound (that isn't anywhere near as good). Add this to the fact that Bono regards himself as some de facto people's champion. Pretentious pricks!

Green Day Basket Case was a tremendous fun song. American Idiot is what YOU are if you think you have any rights to make money off your political beliefs. Leave the politics to politicians and the current affair's media, boys.

Oasis The pretentiousness continues. How these guys can have such a highly inflated opinion of themselves for ripping off arguably the worlds greatest ever band would be laughable if it wasn't so bloody maddening!
